“Give me just enough information so that I can lie convincingly.”

![]() Kylar looks strikingly similar in both his male and female form as if one were looking at identical twins. His hair is unnaturally red, like his eyes, and his face is only just defined. His hair, no matter what form he takes, appears wind struck. His hair is styled so thick bangs fall over his right eye. The locks are soft, silken, and well taken care of. His nose is sharp and long. Refined. His eyes are close-set and round, slanted neither up nor down. His eyebrows are sharp and thin. If not for the near constant smug look on his full lips, Kylar could come off like a high middle-class gentleman. He walks with a robust confidence and speaks clearly and loudly, unashamed of anything he says or does. The man laughs and smiles easily, but there's something haughty about him for sure. He may not always voice it, but it's obvious he becomes disappointed in those who can't hold a conversation with him. Kylar's body shape helps him to look taller than he really is. A mixture of dark clothing and a pair of long legs and a long torso make him come off almost six foot tall when in reality he's a mere 5'7". It's pretty obvious Kylar works out, more cardio than lifting, but he has enough strength to speak of. ![]() In her female form, his hair is long and tightly curled, with the same red eyes and thin eyebrows. She wears the same smug expression and walks with more sway to her hips. She is busty, with a defined waist and nice rear. ![]() His Crocota form is as large as a small horse, with thick claws and very sharp and strong teeth. He has the coloration of a lion and a hyena mixed, with an overall fur color more suited to a lion, but lighter stripes along his back and legs suited for a striped Hyena. His paws, claws, and facial structure are closer to a lion and he even sports a thick mane. Notably, he has no tail. Personality;
“[Horror fiction] shows us that the control we believe we have is purely illusory, and that every moment we teeter on chaos and oblivion.”
― Clive Barker
![]() First and foremost, Kylar Defan is almost always wearing a mask. The polite boy, the scholar, the partier, the monster. It's one thing or another and at this point, Kylar himself isn't sure what's a mask and what's real. In day to day life, Kylar is a polite enough boy with a dazzling smile and a confident air about him. He's intelligent and sophisticated. He enjoys talking about arts, poetry, mathematics, or video games. Generally speaking, he's easy to get along with, even if something is intimidating in the smug look he wears. It would surprise no one to say that Kylar was somewhat conceded in his attitude towards others. He enjoys making fun of people, teasing them, but tends to do it in such a way that one could wonder whether he'd just insulted them or not. He's skilled in backhanded compliments and uses them frequently. Behind that top layer, Ky is a boy morbidly curious about blood and death. He likes to see how he can make a person dance, what they can give him. That's always the question in the back of his mind: what do I get out of this? It isn't so much that Kylar wants to hurt everyone around him, but he doesn't intend to extensively interact with people unless he gets something from them, unwitting or not. With that said, Kylar does have the urge to hurt people, to see their blood spilled. Pain, in particular, interests him in a clinical sense. He feels no empathy for those who hurt, emotionally or physically. As for whether or not Kylar is capable of genuine love, that has yet to be seen. For the time being, it just doesn't compute to him that someone might love another selflessly. Even if he likes a person, a great deal that wouldn't stop him from hurting them or selling them out were they to get in his way. His alliances are flimsy, remaining only so long as someone doesn't get in his way or he is getting something valuable from them. Despite this unfeeling nature, Kylar has an easy time laughing and being amused by people's antics. It's quite common for him to see himself as better than other people. Very rarely is he intimidated or genuinely scared of a foe. Instead, he finds people (especially those threatening or insulting him) just adorable. Powers;
“Blood is really warm,
it's like drinking hot chocolate
but with more screaming.”
― Ryan Mecum, Zombie Haiku: Good Poetry for Your...Brains
AGONYPain Inducement: With the flick of his wrist, Kylar can cause intense, telepathic pain in his victims. This is neither physical nor emotional, but it feels like the former. When using this ability on someone, it will be hard for them to tell where the pain starts and where it stops. The magic is a throbbing pain that lets up only enough to let a person subconsciously relax before wrecking them again. This will leave no damage (permanent or otherwise) on the body internally or externally. Kylar may only use this magic on one person at a time and must be in close enough proximity to hear someone speaking normally for him to use it. If he is to leave a room, the pain will stop once he is gone, but if he remains, he can continue harming a person. There is no particular time limit or cool down period for this ability, but it never increases or decreases in intensity. Not exactly, but something about this magic keeps people from naturally growing a tolerance to this particular pain. No matter how much he uses this ability on someone, it never becomes lethal or cripples the body once he has stopped. After he stops inflicting pain, it only takes about three to five seconds for the person to feel completely okay once again. Pain Detection: Kylar can sense when people around him are in pain, emotionally or physically. For this to work he has to be directly in their presence, the same room and able to spot or speak to them. When people are in pain around him, Kylara feels energized. If he concentrates and touches a person, he can visualize what type of wounds they're suffering from. This only works with physical afflictions, internal or external, but not emotional ones. If someone is in emotional pain, he can only tell that they are, but not why they are (unless he can find out via his telepathy). This ability cannot be used on himself. TELEPATHYMind Reading (Passive): Kylar's mind reading ability works via distance. He doesn't require touching anyone to hear their thoughts. Instead, their thoughts are approximately the same volume as a voice, with insistent thoughts being louder like yelling and fleeting thoughts like a whisper. The closer someone is to him, the more he can hear from them, but the farther they are, the more likely he can only hear insistent thoughts. He hears thoughts in the voice and tone of the person thinking them. The only difference between the tone of a thought and someone physically speaking is a light reverberation in thoughts that most voices cannot mimic. He is incapable of turning this power off, meaning crowded rooms are difficult for him. Like being in a real party, he'll have to focus on someone and be closer to them to hear their thoughts and he's liable to miss things. He, of course, cannot read impulsive actions or thoughts that are in a different language than one he can speak. In places with many people, all thinking at once or intensely Kylar can become overwhelmed and need to step out. This ability also doesn't work on mindless creatures or creatures working off only instinct. Memory Reading: Kylar can read people's memories. However, to do so requires he be touching their face or head and that the target either be receptive to his searching their memories, or they be passed out (not asleep). He cannot read all of their memories, but instead, must sift through them from most recent to earliest in search of whatever he's looking for. While in their minds, he's watching from within their eyes and vaguely feels as they felt during the situation. This has a very dream-like effect on him and requires that Kylar concentrates and keep skin contact. The moment contact is broken, so is the link. While using this ability, all his senses are nullified. Kylar may only experience one memory every hour, as it takes mental energy. SPECIES ABILITIESThe Crocotta are a mythical canid creature originating from India or Ethiopia and said to be dangerous enemies of both man and dogs. Strong Jaw: As such, Kylar's jaw strength averages a PSI (pounds per square inch) of 7000, approximately 700 less than a saltwater crocodile. Enhanced Durability: While initially the Crocotta was thought to be invincible to steel weaponry, that isn't entirely accurate. Kylar's skin is very tough and can take quite the beating. It has less resistance to sharp objects to things like bullets and hammers and greater resistance to sharp objects like knives or spears. Super Strength and Speed: He is stronger and faster than an average person, easily able to keep up with bodybuilders and professional athletes, even while not seeming to maintain the muscle mass to do so. He regularly runs and does some weight lifting to ensure he stays in good physical condition, despite the boost he gets from his supernatural blood. Mimicry: It is also a skill of the Crocotta to unnervingly mimic the voices and tones of the people around them. This works best in short bursts or sentences, rather than any long speeches. He can't keep up using someone's voice for long periods of times, so this ability is best used to lure ignorant people via calling out in the voice of their loved ones. Notably, he can make sounds like bird calls, or other natural things pretty well, but nothing mechanical or electronic. Gender Switching: The final two aspects belonging to the Crocotta is gender switching and longevity. Kylar is capable of switching his gender on a dime, taking only a few seconds. Biologically, he can either be female or male depending on his mood. Longevity: He has a long lifespan but is not immortal. WEAKNESSESAntisocial personality disorder: Kylar has antisocial personality disorder, characterized by deceitfulness, violence, disregard for people's safety and their boundaries, a lack of remorse, and failure to conform to societal normals. This is more or less sociopathy. Kylar doesn't see people as people, or even objects most of the time. He sees them as an advantage, a disadvantage, or a hindrance. He has categories comparing their usefulness to him. If someone is too much trouble and don't give him anything worthwhile, he wants nothing to do with them. He has better things to do with his time. This tends to give him impulsive thoughts and the inability to deny these desires. He can try, but they're on his mind constantly and rarely are they good, innocent things. Rather, he wonders, for instance, how long would it take someone to drown? Or suffocate? He doesn't want these answers from books; he wants to test them out for himself. He struggles to relate with anyone emotionally or care about them beyond what they could do for him. Most of his interactions with people are superficial, he feels nothing (or very shallow emotions) towards them. He isn't always looking to manipulate someone or harm them, but he very rarely genuinely cares for a person. Flesh-Eater: Kylar must consume flesh regularly to maintain his sanity, lest he becomes a beast who follows nothing but instinct. The consumption of flesh is what allows him to appear human and switch between his Crocotta form and human form. While he could theoretically grave rob, fresh meat is better and healthier for him. Going so much as a week without any meat would be enough to render him inhuman and incapable of forethought. Predatory Instincts: As a predator, Kylar naturally has the instincts of one. He is prone to losing control when those around him act like prey and has, on more than one occasion, found himself subconsciously on the hunt or stalking someone whom he sees as weak enough to be food. This makes controlling his impulses difficult, and when even slightly hungry, near impossible. Kylar's thought process works closer to apex predators than it does a human. He has the desire to kill and consume anything worth its energy when hungry, and has no understanding of morality beyond what may or may not inconvenience him. He thinks about the most logical course of action to the knowledge he has, rather than taking into consideration any emotional attachments he may have. It's nearly impossible for Kylar to feel a sentimental attachment to anything or anyone. Biography;
“Our people... blood is the only language we speak. I'm all out of words.”
― Kurtis J. Wiebe, Rat Queens Special: Braga #1
![]() CW: Mentions of alcoholism and animal mutilation. Kylar Rhett was born in Iceland to a stay at home mother and an alcoholic father. He would say his life was average, but that wouldn't be entirely truthful. From an early age, Kylar gave off red flags. Theft, fights, tantrums. He was a troubled child who only learned to hide it as he reached puberty. Behind a charming smile and good grades hid a darker secret. Kylar had taken a liking to torturing the neighborhood pets, testing the limits with knives, hands, or magic. He had a sick fascination with pain since he could speak. He had never felt such a thing and the way others writhed interested him. Using his magic to get ahead became a daily part of his life. Telepathy to manipulate, agony to destroy. The first few times he murdered animals no one noticed, but it didn't take long for his mother to find a few of the poor creatures that died at his hands. She took him out of school, wishing to homeschool him, hoping that would help things. When it didn't, things only got worse. While his father's frustration with him and his mom was on an incline, so was Kylar's need to hurt things. It was almost a scientific fascination. When the letter to Starlight Academy came, Kylar's mother couldn't have sent him off faster. He arrived at Manta Carlos at the ripe age of thirteen and had been there ever since. SPECIAL ITEMS;
