Know your superior

The woods were filled with the sound of breaking trees as Index moved through the forest in their full form. New trees would take the place of these broken ones eventually, so there was no need for any caution. Besides, they currently were carrying precious cargo so there was not much Index was worried about other than bringing it back to their home.

In Index’s claws were a large avian creature that resembled a griffin. The body was crushed as Index had to make sure it was dead before bringing it home, though they could easily heal all of the damage done to the creature. Index intended to perform an autopsy on the being once they reach Index’s home. The ‘Forbidden Forest’ as it was called was home to a plethora of fascinating specimens that were just begging to be examined more closely.

Index had reached the entrance to their home, a large gaping hole that led into a complex tunnel network, each of which ended in a cavern deep in the earth.

The avian creature was moved up along the chain of claws until it reach the ones closed to Index’s head. Index unceremoniously slid the body down the hole, intending to pick it back up when they reached the bottom.

Index paused for a moment before turning to the voice. They slowly turned and then moved towards the voice, trees crashing down onto the ground as Index moved to the floating women off in the distance.

Index stopped and inspected the woman for a few moments, trying to figure out who exactly this person was. Then it clicked suddenly. “Ectybr’ru. Surprised to see you here. Why do you call my name?”

Two of Index’s eyes remained focused on Ecta, however the other eight rapidly darted around to scan the scene. It wasn’t out of choice, it was just how Index was.

“You ask questions my dear inferior, and expect answers. I have my reasoning and that is enough. I must say however it is amusing to see someone so determined to follow in my footsteps.” Index had heard much about Ectybr’ru, an collector of knowledge much like they were. However they doubted Ectybr’ru had anywhere near the same amount of knowledge they had.

Index paused for a moment, the appendages on their head shifting sections of their mind orb around and pressing some of the areas down. They were obviously thinking about something.

“I suppose there is true to what you say. Still, why do you call on me? I am very busy now that I have been revived. I was about to perform an autopsy before you called for me.”

She kept repeating the question as if the answer was going to be different. “I have my reasons Ectybr’ru. There are things I desire to study more closely on this rock.” The appendages were clacking a little harder than usual. This conversation was certainly starting to get irritating and wasn’t going anywhere. Index didn’t have time for some pointless banter, they had much more important work if that was the case.
