Klef is a pint sized girl of Irish-Mexican descent who looks fairly ambiguous in terms of age and gender. Standing at around five feet, she has a fairly small, boyish build; relatively scrawny with narrow hips and a small chest. Freckles, cuts, and bruises are scattered across her sandy skin from adventuring/being a klutz. Her auburn hair is sloppily cut, always looking like she just got out of bed with the longest pieces reaching her chin. Her fringe is long and typically obscures a good portion her eyes most of the time, she occasionally pulls it up when she’s doing any serious detection work. She has the high cheekbones and freckles of her mother and the button nose and pouty lips of her father, but the small gap in the back of her mouth is entirely her doing. Her eyes are unmistakable, they have an almost hypnotic quality and tie into her most familiar power. They are big and round, always glowing with small flecks dancing about. She has never cared much about fashion, sloppiness and lack color coordination do not bother at all, especially after losing her sight. Her priority is comfort and practicality. Klef will never caught dead without her oversized blue hoodie, even in her school uniform. It is the closest thing she has to a safety blanket, taking it away is a death wish. In addition to her hoodie pocket, she also prefers to wear cargo shorts for maximum storage of trinkets and during school hours she wears pants/shorts because they have pockets.

Unpredictable and perpetually confused, Klef is one heck of a wild card. Curiosity is a double edged sword that she unwaveringly swings around, ignoring the possibility that it may slice her or someone else in half. She's a bright girl after new information and experiences, open to almost anything. Her adventurous spirit is always present wherever she goes. In general, Klef likes being in the presence of others, she's typically friendly towards others and will lend a hand as long as it involves adventure. On the other hand, her intense curiosity may be more dangerous than her demonic nature could ever be. It's her addiction, she'll bites off more than she can chew and has a hard time knowing when to stop. She often loses sight of what is really important to accomplish short term goals, sometimes forgetting how it may affect the ones she holds dear. Just how she can detect other auras, she can pick up on her own too. There's this very mysterious nature that surrounds her. She always feels the need to hide something, even when she isn't sure what she is supposed to be hiding. Unsurprisingly, Klef is also a pathological liar and a fairly decent one at that. Despite her efforts, she can't quite kick the habit of lying about everything. Whether it's big or small, she subconsciously fabricates stories in order to keep people from knowing too much about her and sticks to them. Worse of all, she is starting to enjoy it. The idea of using people for her own personal gain, has been increasingly more appealing to her.For the sake of being even shadier than she already is, she tends to only keep people at arm's length. She is weirdly paranoid about growing too close to anyone, believing that their relationship could screw her over in the long run. Even though she is reckless and brash, at least her nature keeps her from screwing up other people too badly. Everything is temporary to her, and because of that, she is oddly hopeful about the future. In spite of losing what was most once important to her and her inability to hold down any meaningful relationship, Klef remains relatively chipper in most situations. She is almost always in a good mood around others, given the situation is normal. She believes that everything has a runtime, her lack of sight, and of course, people. Because of this, she has a hard time holding down any kind of long term relationship that isn't secured through blood, but the unusual amount of hope that runs through her keeps her moving forward with a positive outlook.

Most people have very few vivid memories of their toddler years, that is what parents and photo albums are for. Unfortunately, Klef had neither. Life as she knew it began at age four when she arrived at the circus with her sixteen year old uncle, Juniper. He has been a father figure to her for as long as she can remember. Both of them have always been aware of her supernatural abilities, it's pretty hard to miss glowing eyes. Even at a young age, she was learned how to train her powers, her detection abilities grew from a one foot radius to an entire mile. Life at the circus was pretty chill, was a good place to experiment and do whatever she wanted with little consequences. She had a pretty good relationship with the performers, enough to convince them to let her train to be an acrobat and eventually working as an acrobat at seven. A scout reached out to her after a performance when she was ten, because her powers clearly were assisting her. Sadly, Juniper turned it down immediately, but kept the brochure. Of course, all good things must come to an end. Klef and Juniper said goodbye to all their circus friends and left for a bigger and better things in the city. She tagged along with Juniper as he auditioned for a couple hundred gigs, but was never allowed to be on screen herself for reasons unknown. Eventually they found a compromise, Klef acted in all sorts of plays. The two were still broke, despite having jobs, to this day she has never lived anywhere besides a one bedroom apartment. Despite this, they found enough money to buy textbooks and made good use of libraries/virtual schools to make sure that she got an education. As much as Juniper tried to shelter her, she was still exposed to some more adult subjects at a young age through show business, luckily coming out completely untouched. Even so, they made the most out of their situation and all the short-lived friendships that came with it. Though she'll never speak of anything before life on the island, she even had a best friend that stuck by her the entire time. He was essentially her polar opposite, cautious, organized, blunt, a total perfectionist, yet somehow her perfect partner in crime. The two of them had brochures and a shared interest in this 'Manta Carlos'. They were thicker than thieves for years, little did she know he had actually lived on the island until it slipped out when they were thirteen. That, plus Juniper still not letting her go to Starlight Academy pushed her to rebel. She ran away from home, changed her appearance, traveled on a cargo ship, but still kept the nickname. Life at a magic school went surprisingly normal, she made a few friends and kept good grades. Then the March Virus rolled around and took her sight, she has spent almost a year blind and conflicted. She made close friends with James, which later almost became more than friends before she chose to act clueless to his efforts for the sake of their friendship. Later in June she reunited with her uncle who had been frantically looking for her and adapted to life blind. Her regular school career resumed after that with only a few hiccups and has even been getting bits of her sight back.

Lives with her uncle Juniper one of the less safe neighborhoods of the city. Limited income, but the school provides for anything related to her disability such as books and tutoring.
