Knock, knock...
As Celeste looked over some potential recipes for her upcoming classes, she heard the soft rapping on the door of her office.
"Soifra? You are still here?" she stated, somewhat surprised to see when the young woman still at school. It was fairly late, and Celeste knew that Soifra did not take part in any of the night classes.
"Is something the matter or is there something I can help you with?" she asked slightly worried now by the girl's silence. Celeste knew the young woman had a few problems at home, or so Soifra had confided a few weeks back when Celeste had found her crying her heart out in the girls' washroom a few weeks prior.
"Yes, I mean no. No, I'm fine," Soifra said quietly as she looked at her Home Ec teacher hesitantly and then shook her head. "I just, well, I sorta wanted to say thank you for the other day," she explained awkwardly as she looked at Celeste shyly and flushed a light pink.
"Everything is better at home then?" Celeste asked the girl, glad that she could help the young woman.
"A little," Soifra replied. "It's not perfect, but things are better..." she told Celeste.
"That's good to hear. If you ever need to talk to someone, my door is always open," Celeste told her.
"Thanks, Miss Forestier. I will remember that," Soifra said with a tiny and very happy smile. "Anyways, I should be going, my mom is probably wondering where I am... " she explained. "Oh, and if you ever need help with anything, let me know, okay," Soifra added quickly and as an afterthought before she turned around and left before Celeste could really answer.
