Personality Description: Joseph is a man with all of the potential in the world to do something with his life, but he never quite gets there. Smart, funny, charming, and filled with creativity, Joseph somehow hasn’t quite managed to hit his ‘home run’ idea yet. Most likely, it’s because he is constantly shifting. Willows’ mind goes through phases, so he’ll have a fantastic idea for a month or two, but it’s always a grand scheme that needs multiple years worth of work. By that time, he has already given up and thought up multiple more. For this reason, sketches and plans are scattered throughout all of his desks and notes.
In terms of academic achievement, Joseph is quite smart. Having a naturally great memory and a love for the challenge of learning, however has either done extremely well in prior classes or completely bombed them. He does things only that are necessary, so in most cases will shrug off of homework if he feels like he doesn’t need it. One notable story is of him passing Precalculus with a solid High C without doing a single take-home assignment in that year. On the flip side, anything he IS interested in doing, he will learn outside of school. He has a tendency to ask for additional books and reading if he feels the knowledge is valuable to him.
His sporadic nature isn’t his only downside. Willows is plagued with an ego. While it typically comes out in the form of self-appreciative jokes, his minor superiority complex does come into play when making decisions, and he’ll oftentimes underestimate someone’s capabilities.
He’s a passionate man, and everything about him oozes ‘big’. When talking with others, he tends to skip over small chat and discuss dreams and goals and odd ideas and anything that would be more ‘interesting’. This is, of course, until someone brings up gossip, to which he eats up right away. He’s attracted to drama, and typically his large pool of friends always has at least one piece of it going on that he’s always checking up on.

Willows is a Ritualist. He has a wider variety of spells than most do, however most are weaker than what a sorcerer in that field would be able to perform, all require some sort of preparation, and he must know the spell to do it. Unless continuing a previous thread, all of his spells are considered non-prepared and he must take the appropriate time to prepare them. Also, all preparation requires some sort of materials. For lesser, this may just be special ink and/or some spices, but for anything above a minor level he’ll oftentimes need some other magical ingredients. Preparation time is based off of the level of the spell. The stronger/more specific thing it does, the longer it’ll take..
The easiest and most common for Joseph to pull off, these almost always require little preparation (to the point where Joseph can do them while walking or multitasking) and typically only ink. The seals can also be used to augment something as well, to increase or decrease the size of an entire room as well as make some aesthetic changes (a common one he will do at parties is to put a seal on a wall so the room is sound-proof). As with all of his spells, the more a spell does, the more complex it does and the more it requires.
These are nothing too powerful, and mostly are just party tricks. This includes a wide variety of fun rituals like light formations, making inanimate objects come alive to dance, growing the size of a food, and many more. Anything extreme will of course take a longer time for Joseph to prepare, but for the most part these are all pretty easy and simple spells.
These rituals are rare, and while some may be used more than once, these are the spells that require more time and will only be used in certain cases. Is there a problem that needs solved by a very niche ritual? These are the ones for that. Biography: Born to two mages, all of Joe’s life was spent on the island (aside from a few vacations here and there, mostly to the States to visit non-magical family or any that have gotten jobs in the outside world). His life doesn’t have much of an interesting tale behind it. He was born to a middle-class family, when to the Academy for all of his life (from K-up) and during his school years discovered his interest in finance and rituals. Due to the fact that he’s always been on the island, he’s a bit knowledgeable about it and the supernatural people that are around.
