Appearance Description: Jin is both an attractive and rather intimidating woman. Most of the time she either looks angry (not that she's always angry--she just has Resting Bitch Face Syndrome), or cocky and domineering. She often has a spear by her side--and even when she doesn't have it on hand, she definitely doesn't look like someone to mess with.
Jin's hair is absurdly long; it's nearly to the ground, which is pretty impressive considering she stands at 6'7". The color of her hair gives away her Selkie origins, as it is silver with darker, leopard-like spots just like her fur as a leopard seal.
In addition to being tall, she's also quite muscular--anyone who has met her would likely describe her as being an Amazonian woman. Her skin tone is fairly dark, like that of the Inuit, and her eyes are a piercing ice blue.
If she could walk around naked all the time, she would--but she has come to accept human standards of decency. She doesn't like to wear clothing that is too restrictive, instead opting for loose pants or flowy skirts. She definitely has zero body shame, and will often wear skimpier outfits because she finds them comfortable. One thing that she always wears is the large tooth of a leviathan around her neck on a leather cord.
When she is in her human form, she usually keeps her large seal skin either around her waist or over her shoulders. Sometimes she will keep it hidden in Vanyan's mansion as well.
Personality Description: Leopard seals are generally solitary creatures, and it shows in Jin. Socializing is not exactly her strong suit--or rather, many of the subtleties of human interaction often elude her. She is prone to speaking her mind and being very blunt, which can be very off-putting. She often forgets that some things are best left kept to herself: if she thinks you look like shit that day, she's going to tell you. If you're annoying her, you will know it very quickly. On the other hand, if she likes you, you'll definitely know that too. As leopard seals often are, Jin is very curious and will enjoy anyone who can keep her interest. Ultimately, even if she can pass as relatively human, she is an animal at heart.
Jin also thinks very highly of herself and sometimes comes off as arrogant. However, there is also a side to her that is surprisingly nurturing. She is actually considered something of a legend among the selkie community because she often saves other selkies from being kept as slaves. She will scold the hell out of them for getting caught in the first place, but nonetheless she has saved many lives.

Selkie: Being a selkie definitely comes with its own perks and drawbacks. Jin, being lucky enough to be born a leopard seal, is very physically strong in both her seal and human forms. She can also hold her breath underwater for almost 2 hours.
Selkies have slightly longer lifespans than humans--which is good, because if they had the lifespan of a seal, then Jin would have already been dead by now!
The biggest downfall of any selkie is their seal skin. When a selkie sheds their seal form, they must keep the skin well protected or hidden. If a anyone else claims the skin, then the selkie loses all free will and must do anything the human wishes. They can only regain their freedom by obtaining their skin once more.
Teleportation: Jin has the ability to teleport, but it can only be through water. She can dive into any body of water and teleport herself into an entirely different one. The teleportation ability only works if she is completely submerged, so anything smaller than a bathtub is really not going to help. But the teleportation ability has great range: she could dive into the ocean on one side of the world and reemerge on the other side of the planet. She often teleports to and from Manta Carlos Islands via Vanyan's bathtub, for example. She could just teleport via the ocean, but it's more fun to surprise Vanyan out of nowhere.
She has the ability to teleport someone along with her: she just needs to hold them as she jumps into water to bring them along with her.
The one major restriction of her teleportation is that she needs to be able to visualize the location which she wants to teleport to, which means she cannot possibly go somewhere she hasn't been before. Luckily, Jin has done a lot of travelling so she does have a pretty wide range of places she can visualize and teleport to.

As a child, her mother, Dai, was very meticulous about teaching Jin about human culture and a few key phrases in various languages in the event she ever did decide to travel outside of Antarctica or got captured by humans. It was every selkie's worst nightmare to be captured, but Jin was cocky and had little regard for anyone's warnings.
Things went downhill very quickly for Jin when she and her mother were captured. The two were separated to be sold off as slaves and Jin hasn't seen her mother since.
Jin was bought by a wealthy and incredibly creepy man by the name of Lazar, but luckily she was not meant for him, but rather his younger brother Vanyan; because Lazar was just the kind of weirdo to give his gay brother a female sex slave as a present.
Vanyan wanted nothing to do with Jin, but was also afraid to let her go right away. She was obviously very hostile, and would probably attack him the second he gave her that seal skin back. So, that obviously resulted in Vanyan keeping her around for a while, but he asked nothing of her. With what little English Jin learned from her mother, they were able to communicate and eventually Vanyan was able to calm her down and prove that he was absolutely no threat to her.
He was ready to release her as soon as she showed signs of trusting him enough to not rip his head off--but before that, she became intrigued with a few different aspects of human culture. Perhaps what interested her most was weaponry, and Vanyan just so happened to have a whole room of weapons. He agreed to teach her how to use various weapons, but kept her seal skin in his possession so she couldn't possibly harm him. You know...just in case. Jin learned a bit of nearly everything, but became particularly fond of spears.
Despite their weird circumstances and completely conflicting personalities, the two actually bonded. Even after Vanyan gave Jin her skin back, she decided to hang around a while. Humans were more interesting than she had thought, and figured she might as well stick around to learn more of the language and culture.
However, Jin does bore rather quickly, so she decided to start travelling around just for the hell of it. For the most part, she keeps to herself and doesn't get involved in other's affairs, but there was one thing she could not ignore: seeing other selkies forced into slavery. Whether it meant stealthily stealing another selkie's skin back to return to them, or flat-out killing the person who "owned" the selkie (her preferred method), Jin has saved every selkie she has ever seen trapped. Needless to say, word of her deeds have spread around the selkie community and have made her a bit of a celebrity. In addition to saving other selkies, there are all sorts of stories that revolve around the things Jin has done: some true, some not.
One story that is true is that she once killed a massive leviathan by herself. It's a story that's difficult to swallow for most, but she has the tooth necklace to prove it.
Jin has been on all sort of crazy adventures, and sometimes even manages to drag Vanyan along with her despite the fact that he doesn't even like leaving his house. For now, things have calmed down and she spends a lot of her time on Manta Carlos Islands, staying in Vanyan's mansion. But who knows how long the calm will last when it comes to someone as wild as Jin.
