"All animals have their unique quirks and perks!"
Name: Ivy Hale
Age: 30
Birthday: April 15th
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Category: Citizen
Career: Member of Mortal Coil (organization)
Appearance: Ivy stands at 6'3''. She has dark skin and long, black hair that's formed into a single, thick braid. Her shining, emerald eyes are some of the most prominent features about her. Usually, when at new places, she will be looking for animals or insects to talk to, so they will be wide with a curious gaze. Ivy's body is muscled from years of experience. Her attire usually consists of leggings, a dark vest, a long-sleeved shirt with some kind of goofy design on it, and trainers.
Personality: Ivy is a very simply person with very simple needs. She just wants to live an easy, stress-free life in which she can have fun with the people she loves. However, she knows that the life she leads can't allow such luxuries, so she lives with it by finding the little joys in everything. Whether it be making a new friend (animal, human, or anything else), or getting to relax with an already close friend, Ivy will make the most of it.
However, she knows when she can be overbearing, and in turn, knows how to calm down a bit. Along with being extremely friendly, Ivy is also extremely motherly. She does her absolute best to make sure her friends are well and healthy, and although her friends take top priority, she will gladly see to it it help strangers. This holds especially true for children.
There isn't much that can get Ivy to be seriously angry. If someone were to, say, accidentally spill her coffee (or even on purpose, for the sake of the argument), she would be more sad than anything. She's a very emotionally person, and it doesn't take much to get her to cry. If a friend gets angry at her, even if she knew it was justified , she would still get upset anyway.
Species Abilities: N/A
Powers:
- Creature Kinship
- Communication: Ivy can talk to any and all creatures. English, being the language she speaks, is the universal language for Communication. She must talk to a creature out loud, and then the creature will then be able to communicate telepathically with Ivy, with whatever language it speaks being translated to English. She can't use this ability with normal humans ("normal" being a very broad term), but she can use it with creatures that aren't humans that are still capable of actually speaking. For example, this ability will work on both a normal dog and a demon that speaks a strange, foreign language she's never heard before.
- Imitation: Ivy can change parts of her body to take the form of other creatures. She can cover her arm in dragon scales for more protection, grow a dog nose for enhanced smell, grow a bear's coat to block out the cold, etc. Ivy can imitate any creature that she can use her Communication with. She can make as many changes as she wants at one time, but anything more than three has a risk of greatly disorienting her. It takes five seconds for any transformation to take place. How long she can hold the transformation depends on how many changes she's made, and if she holds a transformation longer than she can handle, she'll pass out. It takes a full minute after reverting back from any transformation before she can transform again. If Ivy changes most of her body to one certain creature, or changes to something else entirely, how long it takes to transform depends on what it is. If it's a normal dog, it'll take thirty seconds; if it's a dragon, it'll take ten minutes. However, when she reverts back from a full body transformation, how long it takes before she can transform again is how long it took her to transform in the first place (e.g. If she transforms into a dragon and reverts back, it'll take ten minutes before she can transform again).
- Ivy can use Communication with multiple creatures at once.
- Ivy knows how to make any transformation work in various scenarios.
- It requires great concentration to transform.
- Ivy can only imitate one aspect of a creature at a time. For example, if she wants to imitate a dragon, she has to choose between a dragon's scales, a dragon's wings, a dragon's fire breath, or a dragon's strength. If she wants to imitate a dog, she has to choose between a dog's enhanced hearing, a dog's enhanced smell, a dog's speed, etc.
When Ivy was twelve years old, her brother, Mason, was born. She had been overjoyed ever since she found out she was having a baby brother, and when he was actually born, it was like a dream come true for her. Her goal was to be the most reliable and influential older sister she could, and she spent every second she could with Mason to ensure that that happened.
Ivy's actions had the intended effect. Over the years, she had been one of the biggest parts of Mason's life, which was to be expected. However, she went above and beyond, using her free time to help him with school work, encouraging him to participate in clubs, and much more. By the time he reached middle school, he thought that she was a little overbearing, but decided that the help was welcome.
Ivy was still a big part of Mason's life when he was a sophomore in high school. However, it was also at that time that everything was flipped upside down. The day would have been perfectly normal if it wasn't for the strange feeling in the air that nobody could seem to shake. Suddenly, multiple gigantic, nightmarish monsters appeared from seemingly nowhere, and everything came to a halt. They crushed everything indiscriminately, but fortunately, they moved in a group and at an extremely slow pace.
The group of monsters was far enough away from Mason's school for Ivy to speed over and pick him up. As she expected, the amount of cars around the school was more than she could count. She considered simply getting out the car and running to the school, but the crowd of people was too dense for her to even think of maneuvering through it. Before she could try to find a way through, another monster emerged from the ground, swallowing up everything in its path, which included Ivy and her car.
Once she was in the belly of the beast, chaos ensued, possibly even more than what was already going on across town. Screams tore through the air, which was to be expected, but everybody that was swallowed up was also performing some kind of unbelievable act. Some shot fire from their mouths. Others grew wings, and others did things that Ivy didn't even know how to describe. Meanwhile, Ivy's limbs twisted and changed into parts of other animals. To say she panicked would be an understatement, and everything from the time her body started changing to when the monster disappeared was simply a blur for her.
It happened hours later, when the sun had long since gone down. She and hundreds of other people found themselves in a dense forest, and with no sunlight, many people simply wandered aimlessly. Most people had long since finished freaking out, including Ivy. However, with no idea where she was, no idea where her brother was, and none of her possessions except her clothes, she was completely at a loss as to what to do. She also had no memory of what had happened to cause her to end up in the forest. In fact, an entire section of her memory was simply blackened out. All she remembered was that she was looking for her brother.
Her situation wasn't any better when she found her way out of the forest. She was in the middle of nowhere, not even sure if she was in the same state, and hadn't even thought to ask anyone else for help. She was also unbelievably hungry, to the point where her legs were incredibly weak. After hours of walking down a seemingly unending road, Ivy collapsed. She was fully convinced that she was going to die, until, a short time later, a pair of footsteps appeared from far away. She was still conscious at that point and managed to get a look at the two people approaching her. One was a tall woman with unnaturally black eyes, and the other was a man with eyes that briefly changed colors. They helped her, and in return she offered to help them. The man, which Ivy soon learned was named Chris, deemed her to be genuine, so the woman, who was named Sarah, accepted her help.
At first, Ivy didn't agree with the duo's tactics. They lied and cheated quite often, even though it was never for their own personal gain. However, when she got her hands on a phone, she found that she couldn't contact her parents or any of her friends. Also, she was afraid of what Chris would do if she left, she was growing quite fond of Sarah, and she needed someone to help figure out her strange abilities.
Eventually, Ivy relented, and found that what they did wasn't as bad as she made it out to be. After learning how to control her abilities, she joined Mortal Coil, and even ended up forming a romantic relationship with Sarah. The three of them began taking on bigger operations while simultaneously searching for Mason.
Once they did find Mason, he also became a member of Mortal Coil. Ivy was not only relieved that he was safe with her, she was also relieved that he knew what had happened for her to end up in the forest and why she couldn't remember. He told her of the events that took place that day, which she wouldn't have believed if it wasn't for her abilities. Mason had somehow escaped the incident and met up with the man who had been behind it. Apparently, the man accidentally released the monsters he was holding onto. He couldn't go in to stop things at the risk of revealing himself. The man had many people from his own group go out to rectify the situation: One person completely repaired the damage that was done to the town. Another erased and/or twisted everyone's memories, and another sent out clones to help control peoples' powers and persuade them from telling people, one of which didn't get to Ivy since she was picked up by Mortal Coil. A man specializing in technology and robotics had also repaired Mason's body, which was completely torn up in the incident.
Even after hearing what had happened, Ivy still had no memory of it. Nevertheless, she decided not to focus on remembering what had happened and instead focused on surviving with her brother and new friends. After Mortal Coil's recent [temporary] disbanding, Ivy met up with Sarah and Chris on the Manta Carlos Islands.
Note: A majority of this history takes place on a parallel Earth, although Ivy doesn't know that as Mason didn't tell her. Their version of Earth was almost identical to this one. The switch happened when Ivy was consumed by the monster.
