Raphael still looked a little shaken but he had enough awareness to notice how his breakdown was spooking the girl. It took him a moment to find his voice again, but his hands were raised like he was trying to gesture her to sit back down but hesitated doing so. Which... was exactly what he was about to do but his mind was a bit in a jumble, a voice at the back of his mind whispering to him conspiratorily.

"N-no, no, it wasn't you. Just. I was just a sudden flashback that just--" Not able to find the words to say, all Raphael could do was motion his hands towards his face like he was gesturing a sudden wave tht struck him. "I-I'm getting used... to people talking about eating people," he added, rather awkwardly, motioning for her to sit down. "But erm. Yeah, i-it's really not what you said."

The blonde seemed to ponder if he should entertain her and answer the question, but the part of him that was still trying to wrap his head around the idea of possibly harming people in the past wasn't making the decision easy.

Still, maybe talking about it could help him make sense of himself. "It's... actually more of the lines of... I remembered something I couldn't remember? If that makes sense," he said rather quietly.

"oh..." The redhead nodded. Flashbacks she could understand. She really didn't have many other than the memories brought up by her one experience with sleep. But those had been terrifying. She hadn't exactly had a great childhood. One of the reasons she'd been so scared of this boy at first.

He seemed to have calmed down a little. Or, he was saying he didn't want her to leave anyways, so she did sit back down. Fatima was feeling a little awkward herself. She half-smiled, laughing nervously to diffuse the tension, "I guess we're both a bit of a mess. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets nervous... I really don't eat people though. I mean there's a store here... never mind. I eat y'know normal stuff mostly. But yeah... Memories are hard."

She didn't want to prod the boy too much. They'd only just met, and she knew just how bad remembering could be. But if he wanted to talk about it, she wasn't going to shut him down. She was probably the last person he should be talking to, though. She didn't have the first clue how to comfort someone who needed it.

"It makes sense, yeah. You - don't need to talk about it if you don't want to... I have lots of scary memories like that. I get it..." She was quiet too. Kind of at a loss for more words. She picked at her food, trying to think of a distraction.

Raphael breathed a sigh of relief when he found Fatima sitting back down. The last thing he needed was freaking out who could have been his new friend and probably making her remember him as this... neurotic guy. That would be terrible! On the other hand, "Mhm, I guess you can say that," he said, a wry smile on his face. "I think most people think I have it together but... ahaha... I'm one hundred percent sure I've got issues on the side."

He figured it wouldn't be such a great topic to discuss though, especially this early. Regardless if they were both messed up; there was line where talking about murdering people should be reserved for more private discussions (or never at all -- but Manta Carlos was a wild place, to begin with).

"Like I said, I remember nothing about it," he told her, shugging his shoulders dismissively and turning his attention back to his meal. After saying that, he felt an odd silence on them, like they've suddenly ran out of things to talk about. It was odd for the teen because he was a natural chatter.

Glancing towards the clock, he realized they still had a lot of time on their hands. Oh boy. Cracking a wry grin, he diverted the discussion for school, hoping she wouldn't notice his awkwardness to dance away from the topic. A little small talk to kill time before they had to leave for class.
