To be frank, Halloween is the worst time of year. At least when you're an obligate monster hunter. The week leading up to October 31st is always filled with spooks and spectres that just can't keep to themselves. To make matters worse, the sheer amount of people out in costume tends to interfere with one's ability to track inhuman activity. It's like one big camouflage net being thrown over the world.
The sheer amount of paranormal activity during the last week of October always drove Nao's senses insane. She felt that tingling inner radar going off at even the slightest movement in her periphery. Maybe it was just the spirit's way of keeping her on edge. Making sure she was ready at a moment's notice in case something big DID go down.
This year was no different. The earlier part of the semester had been relatively quiet for her and was... honestly... a nice change of pace. However, as Halloween loomed ever closer, Nao could feel that familiar sense that something very bad was on the horizon. It was as though Halloween was making up for lost time, ensuring that the last few months of calm would be answered for tenfold.
So, she chose to be proactive.
Nao armed herself... slipping the familiar claymore over her shoulder as she made her way for the door.. and eventually found herself standing at the edge of the dark, foreboding wilderness.
Honestly, she didn't really know where to start. She'd heard of a graveyard out in the woods, and... it seemed like as good a place as any to start her search. There was, of course, the issue of not exactly knowing where it was located. The last thing she needed was to spend her entire night scouring the depths of the forest for a place she'd never seen before.
With a sigh, she turned on her heel and made her way back to campus. Maybe if she asked around, she could find someone to lead her to the den of spookiness. Just maybe.
Her first few attempts to find a guide were met with mixed results. Most people just stared at the sword-toting girl as though she was insane. A few guys replied with what she could only assume was crude innuendo... and entire crowds of students just gave her a wide berth altogether.
"Seriously, can someone just show me how to find the dagnab graveyard?" She found herself grumbling at random passersby.
That was of course, until she was hit with an idea. How else could she get students willing to take her out to a remote spot in the woods?
"Ghost hunting expedition! We're uh gonna go find some EVPs and uh... see if we can catch a few ghosts on camera. Just like on TV! Come one, come all!"
