"That's gotta be fun," Galen remarked dryly, eyebrow still quirked in surprise. He wondered how she put up with it, wondered if she would have never told him if he hadn't guessed. He admitted he could understand why she'd want to keep it a secret, but it still bothered him, somehow.

He lapsed into silence, occupied with trying to remember the staff Psychologist's office hours. He'd have to go there some time today, try to convince her to give him something to help him sleep. He rubbed the palms of his hands against red-rimmed eyes, trying to clear the bleariness from them. "Hey. What time does the cafeteria open? I could use some coffee." He mumbled over at Alex, gloved hands already unfolding the map to figure out if it was in the same building. "Is it safe to eat there? The kitchen staff sound a little diabolical."

“Yeah fun,” She said with a shrug, “I guess that’s one way of looking at it.” The other way of course as constant hassle having to put-up with everyone else's thoughts, and never having any time where it’s just you alone, in silence. “People can be very… imaginative.” She added after pausing for moment looking for a positive outlook on the situation.

“Well,” She trailed off as she looked out the window at towards the Kitchen; smoke was rising from a steel chimney on the roof. “It looks like the staff is already cooking breakfast, but I think it will open in a half hour or so.” She then turned back to him and chuckled. “Don’t worry about the staff that aren’t all that diabolical, just a little cranky. But don’t worry they may hate feeding hundreds of hormonal teenagers with god like powers. But they are more afraid of the concept of hundreds of hormonal teenagers with godlike powers being hungry.”

He laughed noiselessly. "Imaginative? That doesn't really sound pleasant." Were people's thoughts really that disgusting? Somehow he didn't have a hard time believing it. He was just glad his power was more defense then offense. He didn't think he'd enjoy the all-knowing all-seeing powers like telepathy or clairvoyance.

"Oh, that's them?" He frowned down at the map, comparing it with the view from the window. "Should have guessed, what with the... Smoke." He folded the map, tucking it away once again in his back pocket. "Sorry. I get a little thickheaded when I'm tired. And... Like I said. Insomnia." If he had gotten some sleep, he'd have remembered to introduce himself, he wouldn't be reduced to a stammering mess anytime something unexpected happened.

He laughed shortly, rubbing his hands together evilly. "I like it! Power through fear! Or at least breakfast, anyway." He wouldn't want to work here either, when there were enough messed up students that they needed a full time psychologist on staff.

“Pleasant,” Alex echoed. “Not at all. But I still got to give some of those people props for creativity. Then I need to go get them therapy. Lots of it.” She knew it was disgusting but what else could she say about it. I mean like it or not and no matter how much people tried to hide it and suppress it. We were all driven by our most basic desires. And for teenagers those desires boil down to, sex, food, more sex, and even more sex.

“Yeah I don’t blame you.” She said with a yawn. Wheel she didn’t have insomnia she basically only got a few hours sleep that night before getting up and knew that within a few hours she was going to be regretting that decision. “Have you tried visiting the clinic or anything? They may give you something for it and help you sleep.” She knew he probably already did visit the clinic but for some reason she felt like she needed to ask that, like it showed she cared or something. “If that doesn’t work I got a book for English that I’m sure will knock you out.” She said, remember at that moment she left the book down on her night stand.

“Yep Robespierre would be so proud of this school.” Alex said as she grinned as sinisterly as she could, which was not at all she thought. “I honestly don’t care though as long as I get some eggs and hot juicy sausage in me in the morning I’m fine….” She paused her eyes widening at that comment. “That is not at all what I meant it to sound like.”

"Lovely," he said drolly, wrinkling his nose at the idea. "If I were you, I'd bend the spoon of everyone who I heard exercising their creativity. Faster then therapy, and twice as effective."

"Tried it yesterday." He sighed, restless gaze falling on her for a millisecond at the sound of her voice. "Apparently they don't want me taking pills right now? Something about..." He waved a finger in the direction of his face. "She suggested meditation. An English book would probably work about as well - provided you mean for me to read it, not knock myself over the head with it."

Galen laughed soundlessly, the only indication of his mirth his shaking shoulders. "You're provoking me," he teased. "I've passed your purity test so far, so now you're trying to trick me into 'creativity'. Lucky for me I'm just a naturally good person." He assumed an expression of perfect benevolence, only able to hold it for a few seconds before cracking up again.

Alex shrugged it really didn’t matter to him and she had to admit back when she was a guy she thought the exact same things about any pretty girl he saw and like it or not the mental consensus of the guys at this school was she was at least somewhat attractive. At that moment a thought ran threw her mind, some of the boys at his old school rated the girls in their class on a scale of one to ten, where would they have put her on that list. That was something that could bother her later, she decided. “Nah there’s no real point you can’t teach them that way.” Alex sighed. “Even if I choked them all with my mind Darth Vader style I doubt that would do anything good. Except make me feel better.

Alex nodded and made a disappointed sigh as Galen explained his trip to the clinic. Why wouldn’t they give him sleeping pills because of the scars? Unless he was on some kind of other medication, or maybe they think if he did that to his face he would try and ill himself or something. “Yeah, I meant read it.” She grinned. “But we can file that under plan B. in case it doesn’t’ work.”

“Ah trust me wasn’t trying to provoke you.” She said as she walked by him, give him a wink, something she isn’t exactly sure why she did but in a few minutes when she realized what she did would be real embarrassed by it. It was wink after all who winks at someone else like that Alex could only think of a few reasons. And all of them seemed to involve flirting. She stopped once she got to the door to the stairs. Resting her hand on it she glanced back and muttered “C’mon I’ll you the cafeteria, maybe some food will get your mind off sleep.”

"You don't have to choke them all. Just a few. For examples," He deadpanned, grinning sadistically. "I'm sure they'd get the idea."

He shrugged, rubbing his eyes with gloved fingers. "It's worth a shot. I'm open to everything at this point. Unlike you, I'm not the sort who usually gets up with the sun. It's... disconcerting." He'd had about an hour of sleep, in ten or twenty minute intervals throughout the night. He couldn't remember the last time he'd gotten a full night of sleep, but it had been long enough that a few hours of uninterrupted unconsciousness was looking tempting, no matter how it was achieved.

She winked, and if you weren't then, you are now he thought, but he was smart enough not to say anything out loud - she almost seemed like she regretted it a few seconds later. "Sounds good," He said instead, following her to the door leading to the stairs. "Let's go scare the kitchen staff, hmm?"

“Oh no I’m pretty sure I would have to choke them all.” Alex said with sinister glee. “They really won’t learn they would watch their best friend gets choked, think it won’t happen to them, and go about with their business.” Alex couldn’t help but be amazing with that comment at how much she had changed it had taken less than a year for her to go from full on average girl loving teenage boy, to a confused teenage girl with a loathing of men of the opposite sex. To her dread she only imagined how bad she was going to be six months from now. This wasn’t helped when she picked up Galen’s thought on her wink. She had to admit he really was right about it, Alex was slowing losing touch with her gender identity and she knew there was nothing she could do about it.

“I’ll have to catch up with you.” Alex said pausing with her hand on the door. “Believe it or not this-” She slid her thumbs into the elastic of her blue shorts and pulled it away from her waste and let it snap back. “Is not what I normally like being caught wearing outside of the girls dorm. I’m gonna need to go change real quick before going to get breakfast.” And probably cry naked and alone in the shower for fifteen minutes over her plight, Alex added only in her head.

"Ah." He scratched the back of his head, trying to solve the dilemma. "Guess you'd better not, then. Half the student body suddenly choking might raise a few eyebrows." At least he wasn't likely to make a fool of himself in this particular area. He never spent a lot of time actually looking at people, and when he did it was never for long enough to notice much. It was a defense mechanism he'd developed when he was a kid, and although he had no use for it any more, he found it hard to shake the habit.

He glanced at her clothes, registering their strangeness for the first time. At least - he assumed they were strange. He didn't know much about what was considered appropriate attire for teenage girls. "They look fine," he offered, politely, although to him almost any clothing looked 'fine'. "See you there, then?" He crinkled gloved fingers in her direction in a vague sort of wave, starting down the staircase.
