Icy Lake... Brrgh!

Tabitha sauntered lazily over to the lake. The icy winds tickled her nose, as she shoved her hands deeper into her warm jacket. She didn't want to get up this early, but she knew she had to. Standing faithfully beside the lake. She felt comfortable using her powers here. Quickly she began to form a large energy ball. She could feel the power surging through her, racing to every part of her body. Her head pounding, she threw it across the lake, barely missing a squirrel. Her body quivered from the cold, and the force of her own power.

The water on the surface of the lake was frozen. The surroundings, nippy and iced. There was not a single thing not frosted with snow. It made him wonder why he even ventured out from the safety and warmness of the Academy buldings; the white had already blinded him, not like there was much to see in a wintry wonderland anyway.

It was the people, he liked talking to people. It made him forget. And watching people play around, well, it distracted him as well. It was hard to even start a conversation with anyone, with his (non)existent socializing skills, unless he was forced to.

So Haku quieted himself, and settled looking at a lone girl at the edge of the frozen lake, throwing (was that energy?) balls at the opposite end. He sat onto a dry stone, and let his white wings droop and vanish.

(OoC: Vanishing wings? Nice.)

Tabitha turned around. She saw a boy standing alone. "Hhh-hello," she stammered, quietly. She felt a gust of wind, which blew her hair ever which-way. Her fingers tingled from the power of energy, which blazed inside of her, like a fire unwilling to stop.

[It's his secondary power. He doesn't have it up, when he doesn't need it.]

When he had looked away for a quick second, the girl had apparently noticed him there.

"Oh, uh, hi," he mustered, at the relatively same tone as the girl, not exactly used to talking just yet. "What are you doing here, so bright and early?"

He closed his eyes, thankful for the second of darkness, but was yet again affected by the searing white of the snow. His eyes had to adjust after all, adjust to the light; he had to if he wasn't going to spend all his time inside. He sighed as the wind brushed against him, tugging at his cozy jacket.

[Cool, cool.]

"Oh.. ermm," how was she supposed to explain what the proffessor had asked her to do? "Practicing my powers you see...I-I," she couldn't think of anything to say "I need practice."

She glanced hopefully at the boy Does he know? How would he know that the professor wanted me to maximize power? What if he knew about the professors weakness? His cure? Me? Tabitha's pulse quickened.

"Oh. Practice? We're supposed to practice our powers?" He stared blankly into space for a second. "I came here to learn about them. I guess, learn then, practice, I suppose."

At her gaze, he flinched, then fell onto the ground, which was habitual. How could she have such strange glance that made him flinch? But then again, he flinched at almost anything that caught him off guard. Shaking his head to rid himself of the dirty snow, he sat upright, and tried to not look like an idiot.

"What are your powers anyway?" he decided to ask, after a long moment of silence.

"Well my powers are energy. Well conducting energy that it, I also am a little telepathic," she smiled wryly "Well we were not supposed to practice our powers exactly... I just thought...well ya know 'practice makes perfect'." Tabitha laughed nervously at this.

"So what are your powers?" she asked.

"Yeah, I guess so," he said, noticing the uncomfort of the (apparently) innocent question. "Practice is always good."

He shrugged, fingering a piece of dirt. "I don't know. People said it was something like telekinesis, or force field or something. But what kind of force can go through things? And I can't exactly control it either. And then, I can fly a bit, but I use my wings mostly for moving around. It looks hard to support up, but it's really light."

Haku closed his mouth abruptly. He had gotten too into coversation. But if the girl doesn't find out about the other half of it, then she'd be fine, right? He didn't really like heaping troubles onto people he only met two seconds ago. He sighed.

"Oh that's interesting." she replied trying to grasp at something interesting to say. "You said you couldn't control your powers? You mean like they come to you when you need them?" she asked curiously. "There was a professor at my old school-" she sighed sadly, remembering Prof. Diale "she was always interested in that sort of thing."

She tugged on her necklace, which she always wore, gently, reminding her of when she had received it.

"No, I meant. I don't know how it works. So I don't know how to work it," he corrected, staring at his hand as if he could conjour up his powers at that instant. "It's like: you have everything in front of you, but you can't see how it fits together."

He watched as a little mist began to surround a rock, and it flew into teh lake. "I guess, if I'm pretty much under control, no emotions going haywire, then, it'd work."

Sighing, he watched as the foggy substance melted through the lake, and disappeared. "Your professor, if she knew about that kind of thing. She probably liked dramatic scenes."
