Over six centuries ago, the Island was founded by two rivaling crews of pirates who, instead of fighting over land, decided to create peace with each other.
In celebration of that event, Manta Carlos has a yearly banquet hosted at City Hall that takes place on the second weekend of November.
While the island does provide food that is replenished hourly, it is customary for those attending to add their own dishes to the tables and restaurants to contribute a table of their own.
