Riley could tell from looking at his partner that something was off, in what he'd said. It wasn't the usual anger, by any means, but it wasn't something just easily blown off. If anything, they seemed as confused as him- and that scared him. His demeanor was chilled as always, but his pulse was racing, his breathing quickened...

And then, she asked what her name was.

Needless to say, it caused the senior to freeze in his tracks as he stared at her, trying desperately to not convey any emotion. He'd managed to hide the shock, but the way his body had tensed up was obvious. He'd gone completely rigid, not making any sudden moves, not saying anything for a long, long while. Mainly because in that moment, he felt very akin to a cornered rat.

After a long moment, he looked off to the side, his nose wrinkled as he let out a hard sigh- though it came off as more of a scoff.

"I don't know. What is your name, huh? Was probably something so fucking forgettable it left my mind." The venom was halfhearted, however, as he said those words. It was as if on some level he knew. He knew that at this point, he'd lost. She'd figured it out.

He had failed his one self-assigned job, and now she was going to end up upset.

"Just.. fuck off, let's continue the project already. Or.. let Trill do her shit or whatever."

That settled it, his tenseness after she asked him only confirmed it. He really did forget her. She knew he would've remembered her name if he was able to. He remembered it yesterday even though he only heard it once, even when he kept calling her other names, he still remembered it by the end of class

~...Lyria? Are you okay?~ Lyria heard Trill's voice echo in her mind, laced with concern. ~Yeah, I'm fine.~ Lyria had to admit, it hurt. It hurt a lot, and this was why Riley didn't want her near him in the first place. This is what he was trying to prevent.

~You shouldn't get involved with him anymore. He's only going to keep hurting you, again and again and again. This is the perfect opportunity, Lyria, you don't have anything keeping you from pretending yesterday never happened. We should just finish this project and be done with him.~ Lyria knew Trill only had her best interest at heart, but what about Riley? Who did he have to help him when things got tough? Lyria knew nothing about Riley, hell, she just met the guy yesterday. She didn't know if he already had friends or family that were trying to help him, but the way he spoke about her curse, he sounded so lonely, as if he had no one else but himself. ~Sorry, Trill. I don't think I can do that.~

Lyria wasn't going to back down, she was going to help him no matter what. She didn't care if he was going to forget her after every interaction they had, she would just introduce herself all over again. He's been suffering all alone because he would only hurt others if he were to let them in, she wasn't going to be one of those people.

"I told you something yesterday, Riley." Lyria said. "I don't know if you remember it, but I said I wasn't going to give up on you. So if you don't remember who I am, then..." She gave him her best smile and held out her hand.

"Hello! My name's Lyria and I guess I'm your partner. I hope we can get along!"
