Private Finished I Did What?

Konpeitō's stiff smiled loosened. His entire body loosened, in fact. On the outside, it may have seemed like he grew calmer, but in reality, he has legitimately blacked out from anger. That was the best thing his body could do. If he acted on emotion, he may have attempted to punch Basté square in the face.

He took a few shaky breaths before speaking. During one of those breaths, he glanced at the exit, wondering if he wanted to leave. No, he decided. This information was important. Making an enemy now wouldn't do him any good. He needed to keep control over himself.

"Going by the consensual theory, that would mean someone walked in, saw my doppelganger eating a person in the woods, then took things out of context and left to spread the rumor. It would explain why no one has reported a missing or dead person... Alternatively, my doppelganger was eating a corpse." Talking about eating a person was something Kon barely cared about anymore. He still had feelings about it, but as long as the person he spoke with was fine with it, he was fine with it.

"As for the other rumors, I think you may be misunderstanding. What do you mean by the rumors lacking in consistency? Several of the rumors seem somewhat in character for those involved. The biggest issue is figuring out how everyone is connected."

Kon let out a half-laugh. "Yeah, well, my doppelganger is making things tough on me if he's going around asking people for their flesh and eating people in the woods. Use Bleedr, for fuck's sake. I don't even need to eat people, goddammit." It didn't matter if his doppelganger needed the flesh or not. The methods he was using was, in the end, causing trouble for the real Konpeitō.

"And funny thing about that... Several people have confirmed a couple of rumors as true. From off the top of my head, the one revolving around the plant kid spraying an insect person, the girl verbally assaulting people, and most notably, the vampire-demon girl who attacked people at the Citizens Against Evil protest. That one actually had video evidence."

So Basté was only somewhat in the know about all of this. At least she alerted him to his new rumor. That made all of this worth it, somewhat.

"I don't know. To eat. To a brothel. Both. Something to do until I'm calm and I can go to my boyfriend. I'll continue looking into things later when I don't feel so awful." He didn't care anymore whether he was talking to a teenager or not. It wasn't like he was going into detail.

Though there was one thing he felt he needed to clear up. "Er, I'm friendly with the vampire-demon girl. Her name is Alma. I'm confident this is part of the rumors and that she didn't do it. Even the police decided there wasn't enough evidence despite the recordings and she was released. From what I've heard, she had to be arrested twice. The first time at the protest, the second time at her home because she somehow escaped nullification bracelets. It doesn't make sense."
