Finding Company

Rémy was restless. She had nothing to do and no one to talk to. She immediately resorted to spending time outside, where she was comfortable and at home, and where she could find company in the plants. She made her way quickly and quietly through the grounds, finding a beautiful young sapling and sitting under it. She ran her hand over the grass lovingly. There was so much more to nature than everyone else saw. She only wished they would realize.

Rémy's eyes shone green as she looked up at the sapling that was giving her shelter. She put her right hand on it and it moved under her touch. The slightly barren branches became rich with leaves and it grew a couple of inches in height. Then she took her hand away abruptly, blushing. She looked around and, although she saw no one, decided to stop showing her talent so blatantly. She was always worried that people would judge her and mock her... But then she remembered where she was. A school for the gifted, where there were other people like her... Well, not exactly like her, but they all had extraordinary gifts as she did.

Taking out her small satchel of seeds, Rémy sifted through them, then spotted the one she wanted. She knew what plant was housed in every seed, so it was easy for her to identify them. She put the seed on the ground, and said, in her soft, almost melodic voice, "Grow." The small seed cracked open and roots came out, putting themselves in the ground. Then the flowers bloomed, taking shape and letting out a sweet fragrance. Rémy picked one of the pretty white roses, being careful of the thorns, and held it in her hands. Yes... she would find company in the plants. But when would she be able to find company in other humans?

Ithen walked across the lawn, making sure that his hair covered most of his face. He wasn't sure why he felt like covering his face, he just did. Looking through the hair he saw a girl sitting under a tree.
Was she just petting the grass? He thought. He walked over to her and leaned against the tree.
'Hi there. I'm just going to make a wild guest and say that your powers have somthing to do with plants?'

Rémy jumped, gripping the rose in her hand tightly. A thorn cut into her skin, but she took no notice to it. Her green eyes flashed as she looked at the person who had just approched her. Unbeknownst to her, her powers had reacted unconsciously. A branch of the tree was slowly descending towards the boy. She cleared her throat and the movement stopped abruptly. She began to blush, as she was prone to do. "My powers? Oh, yes. Plants. Yes." She cleared her throat again, looking quite ashamed of herself. She smiled awkwardly. "I'm sorry. Where are my manners? My name is Rémy."

He raised an eyebrow as she blushed, following her gaze to the branch above him.
Whatever.
'Don't worry about. I'm sure your manners are exactly where they should be. Unlike mine.'
He shook his head sadly, 'I still haven't been ale to find them.'
Making a mock-bow he said, 'Ithen, at your service. Well, not really, but you know what I mean.'

Rémy narrowed her eyes defensively at Ithen's slightly sarcastic mannerisms. "How nice to meet you, Ithen," she said, slightly coldly, as she allowed the branch to descend further and wrap itself around Ithen's shoulders, as a human arm would do. "I'm very sorry your manners are lost. The only thing I do is grow plants. I don't think I'll be able to help you find them." Rémy let go of the rose, whose white petal had a drop of Rémy blood on it. It fell in the grass as Rémy looked at her hand. Luckily, it was already healing. She looked back up at Ithen, not knowing what to say. This was the first time she had been approached by someone at the school, and she wasn't sure how to react.

He raised an eybrow once again, looking at the branch. Wow, what did I do?
He sidestepped, so the branch was no longer around him then said, 'I'm sorry, would you like to be alone? I can go if you want.' Glancing at her bleeding hand he added, 'Would you like some help with that?'

The branch immediately retreated back to the sapling. "No. No, I like the company." She was glad to have anyone talk to her. She wasn't used to it, but she wanted to be. Rémy glanced at her hand. "Help? How?" It wasn't a bad cut or anything, it just stung a bit, like it did every time one of her plants hurt her. She wasn't exactly sure how it could be helped, though. It was awfully nice of him to offer.

He shrugged.
'I dunno. Clean it?' He liften one of his hands, drawing some clean water from the soil.
Then he formed it into a small ball, lowering back onto the grass.
Then he shrugged again and said, 'I guess I can't really help.'

Rémy smiled. "That was impressive." It was the first time Rémy had seen one of the other students' active powers. "And all I can do is grow plants." She was only making a joke, but she was really thinking that her powers were inferior to everyone else's. Hers wasn't at all earth-shattering. She couldn't do much damage with them.
Rémy patted the grass next to her. "Would you like to sit with me?"
