Age: Though she is hundreds of years old, she looks to be about 25 physically. Mentally, she’s a bit more mature.

Appearance Description: There are three defining features to Falina. First, there are her ears. While not that obvious at first (she’s gotten good at thiding them either behind a bow or twintails) - one will soon notice that she doesn’t have normal, human ears; she has cat ears that sit on top of her head. Velevety soft, about twice the size of normal cat ears, sensitive, and covered in fine light-brown fur, she can’t phase them out if she wanted - they stay, whether in cat form, cat demon form, or human form. The second thing to notice is that she often wears either skirts or tailor-made black slacks (if she’s working that day.) Why are they tailor-made? I mean, it’s not that she’s rich. She just needs a fit for her tail, which she’s used to hiding. Now that she’s been on Manta Carlos, though, she can freely show her tail. It is of the same softness and fur color of her ears - a light brown. The third thing? She has cat eyes. No, i’m not talking makeup or glasses - I’m talking legitimate cat eyes. Like her ears and tail, she retains her eyes through all forms she takes; she used to wear contacts to hide them, but now can freely show them. They’re a vivid orange color, and seem to be very expressive. Interestingly enough, being a brief citizen of Hell has not hurt her human form much - there’s only a few burn marks across her hands and on her feet.
In her first feline form, she has light brown fur across her body, with black fur marking the tip of her tail, paws (almost like boots) and the tips of her ears. She looks more like a lynx than anything… If not for the fact that she is the size of a housecat. This allows her to fit into tight spaces, such as bookbags and boxes. Her eyes are the same ones that are in her human form, and in this form her senses and powers are heightened, with all the advantages and drawbacks that brings. She can’t talk in her cat form, so she resorts to the best cat-gestures she can. Hates the fact that people think she’s an actual cat and babytalk to her.
In her final form, she is MUCH more hellish-looking. All semblance of light-brown fur has gone, leaving only splotches of black and patches of reddish skin. She grows to about the size of a lynx, and her teeth are terrifyingly large and sharp. Her eyes, ears, and tail are still there, yeah, but they’ve become black (save for the eyes, which retain their vivi d orange color.) She is, in essence, a black cat demon, and hell if she doesn’t know it.
Personality Description: Falina is an interesting character. She’s bright, in both senses of the word - intelligent beyond her perceived years, especially in her favorite sections - spells; and although it may not seem like it at first glance, once you know Falina, she is pretty positive. A party? Yeah, she’s probably there, near the drinks, and laughing. She’s pretty social - which helps her to talk to both students and citizens alike, to understand what they are and what they’re going through, through her lens. She even learned sign-language, for a class a fee years ago that could not hear her. She believed it helped her students get whatever they needed done.
Actually, most of her behavior today is drastically different from her younger self - for one thing, she is finally getting the hang of believing in humans (if not for their intelligence and agency rather than their emotions). If she believes in someone now, it’s all or nothing. Most of the time, she’s 120% in support of the person whom she believes in. For two, she’s gained a much stronger sense of greed, pride, and curiosity. What was the saying, again? Curiosity killed the cat? Ah, but satisfaction brought it back - and Falina, being still a pledge of the Pride sin, understands this. She’s stubborn to a fault - she’ll do anything it takes to boost her pride, and won’t back down from a challenge, in the name of pure pride or satisfaction. All her accomplishments hinge on others’ pride in her, which is the driving factor of her near-insatiable curiosity.
Just…. Don’t leave her alone with anything she can fidget with or experiment with. Due to her curiosity, she’ll play with it until it a) breaks or b) is understandable in Falina’s eyes.

You can take the Falina out of hell, but you can’t take the hell out of Falina. As a demon, naturally, she has a sort of aura of general unhappiness. She herself is bright - but when she gets pisses - EVERYONE nearby’s feeling it. Usually, this aura extends to about three feet around her, and after setting it off, she will experience body aches equal to the power of the aura she’d set off. She can trigger this on-command, but it is very weak when she does so, and only extends to people touching her.
Demonic Sense
Again. It’s a hell thing. Falina can, within a five-foot radius, sense anything of demonic origin, especially if it came from a Pride demon. Objects, people, places, you name it, she can detect it. Unfortunately, anything near (within 50 meters of) a church will affect her ability immensely - same goes for things submerged in holy water, or guarded with crucifixes. Oddly, she also has a weakness to salt…? She doesn’t like it. When all of these things are impeding her sense, it becomes almost useless. Conversely, anything involving prideful demonic energy will register more strongly, so… There’s that.
Binding
When she is bound to a contractor, her powers become stronger when in contact and even around the person - however, since she is under contract, she cannnot harm her contractor, nor can the contractor hurt her. If the contract I broken, it will not be renewed, and Falina is free to do as she pleases once more - including returning to her place of previous residence, Hell, or anywhere in between. It has to be written in some sort of red substance. Blood works - but so do red pens, red food coloring, red icing, red markers…. It’s really up to the contractors. As long as it’s red, it works.
Cat-Shift - Demonic Form
Of course. In Hell, apparently it makes sense to have a giant demon cat monster form. This is the easiest form for her to shift into, as it is her natural form, and in it all her senses and powers are strongest. She can communicate via this form, albeit in garbled, growly speech. She is less lucid, though, and less moral. More blind to what she is doing, for sure, since this is the form where her powers are especially affecting, where the old her is strongest, and where her darkest morals reside. When she shifts back into her housecat form (she can’t shift from her final form to her human form directly), she needs rest immediately, and for as long a time as she uses the form. For example, the first time she shifted from human form back to her natural form, she used her natural form for about 3 days - and so that’s how much time she slept for afterwards. Depending on if she used her abilities, the corresponding part of her body will hurt when she shifts back. After she rests adequately, a day must pass to shift from housecat form to human form.
Powers: Usually, her species abilities are enough for her.
Biography: A thousand years ago, Falina was born to a demon father and a half-demon mother (a bakaneko and a half-human Pride demon) in a remote town in what was to be Japan (near Tokyo). Her parents were overjoyed that the mother had been able to birth her, but for different reasons - her father thought she would be more powerful than even his wife or him, and that she would be if use to his lords - her mother was joyed to discover she had a child, a real (if slightly demonic) child to raise and to love as her own. However, their views conflicted, and the mother lost her only child to Hell and to their father. As a result, Falina spent the first few years of her life living in Hell, in her natural form, and did everything she was supposed to, taking pride from her accomplishments.
As time went on, she began to wonder about her mother, the half-human still presumably living on the surface. She asked her father if she could go up to the surface (on duty to her father if course). He was eerily lenient - but that’s when she found out that time passes faster on the surface than on Earth. She had been down there around 15 years in her time. But she had been down there for 90 years in real time. Her mother was unfindable to her, no matter how much she tried. She even met up with witches in hiding, demons masquerading as humans…. All her contacts she exhausted trying to find her mother. It took hundreds of years to discover she had been dead before Falina had even noticed she was gone.
Needless to say, it bothered her. She literally went to hell and spent the last hundred years (about 300 years) observing as much as she could about humans. Perfecting their movements, Carrying out contracts on the surface world, then returning to Hell to watch humans. To study them. This is where she gets mos of her mannerisms.
A few decades ago, one of her contractors took her for an assignment on Manta Carlos Islands (around late 1980’s). This was an interesting human, like the countless others she’d seen - but this one was extraordinary. As in, he taught her sigils and runes. He was a wizard harry, and showed her both the marvel of teaching and the marvel of there being more people like him. Like her, even. Like them.
She’s lived on Manta Carlos for 6 years now, and works as a substitute teacher.
