Name: Emelissé Cygnus
Age: 24
Birthday:
Gender: Female
Category: Citizen
Class: N/A
Grade: N/A
College Major: N/A
Appearance Description:
Emelissé’s skin is a pale, pure white, unblemished with the texture of fine silk. Her eyes are a deep emerald green that always shimmer like gems - and can become just as cold and sharp. Like a waterfall, Emelissé’s raven black hair cascades down her back to her hips, never tied back and rarely held up in a bun.
The swan maiden’s slender form is held up with impractically perfect posture, standing tall at a height of 5’4, which is slightly below average for her country of origin, but she looks taller than she is because she walks about on the pads of her feet, her heels rarely touching the floor. Most of her height comes from her legs, however her neck is also rather long but not absurdly so - instead it mimics the grace of a swan’s long neck. Her skeleton, being more that of a bird than a human, is light and airy, and easily broken. Because of this, and her slim muscles, Emelissé weighs just over half as much as a normal woman of her size would.
The only article of clothing Emelissé ever wears is her swan’s skin, which takes the form of a floor length gown, almost like a wedding dress, with a sweetheart neckline and sleeves that trail to a point at her fingertips. Pure white feathers adorn the skirt in layers while the bodice and sleeves are decorated with intricate embroidery in the pattern of swirling flowers and leaves.
Personality Description:
Emelissé is a reserved, but by no means timid or shy creature, preferring to hold her tongue as opposed to wagging it or hiding. Never once has she argued against her sisters, but she reminds them of their mistakes when they start to repeat them. She’s now considered to be the eldest in the group, despite having two others having hatched before her and only one having left, but she’s taken on the role her mother left empty and keeps the flock safe. She tries not to act with poor judgment, however she is also rather old fashioned. She acts like the very personification of what swans represent: Pride, Grace, Elegance and Purity, although her pride could be what leads to her downfall. She really does love her sisters, but she considers the younger ones much too inappropriate to hold the title of swan.
Emelissé gives off an intimidating and cold aura to those who might pose a threat to her flock, and looks down on the entire human race as “filthy savages”. She thinks the same of demons and trickster spirits but is wise enough to never say so aloud.
Powers:
Species traits:
Undying beauty: Even while aging, a swan’s beauty and grace are never lost, unless she is disfigured as a cause of being severely injured.
Human-Swan transformation: With the use of a swan skin, which can look like anything from a genuine swan’s skin to an article of clothing made from a swan’s feathers, swan maidens can change between human and swan. This skin is carefully guarded except when the maiden removes it to bathe in rivers or lakes.
Swan Maiden’s curse: When a Swan Maiden’s swan skin is stolen, she is forced to do what it is the person who stole it desires with her, usually marriage by tradition. A swan maiden typically falls into a deep depression when her skin is stolen, which ends only when the skin is returned to her, or she dies of heartbreak.
Emotion Manipulation: While she sings, Emelissé can sway the emotions of other creatures around her to however she is feeling, able to control them to feel what she wants them to feel if she is truly attempting to do so. She can sense the general atmosphere of a room and change it, as well as the individual moods of the sentient creatures around her. This works best on animals, who don’t know quite enough to fight it, as highly intelligent creatures could use their will force to escape her magic.
When Emelissé dances, she can change the atmosphere of a room but not anyone’s moods, which is easier to accomplish than trying to control all the individuals.
Biography:
Emelissé was born as the thirty second batch of eggs to her mother, with seven eggs including hers in the nest. Emelissé was the fourth to hatch, however none of the sisters really considered themselves older or younger than the others. None of the girls knew their father, just knowing that he was a swan - a true swan, with no magical abilities.
They lived mostly in hiding, only ever showing up near humans as swans, bathing only in places far away from civilisation as could be found. The group of swans flew all across Ireland, keeping their presence hidden. By the time she was fourteen, the ‘eldest’ sister had fallen head over heels for a young lad who worked in a farm where the family stopped often as they traveled from the north to the south. While they were waiting out the night, her sister snuck away from the flock to talk to the boy. She convinced him to come with her to the flock, to run away and join her family as a swan. The boy complied, and was soon flying alongside her in the wedge. From then on, the family of eight became a family of nine.
Just barely a barely a year later, the flock's mother died leaving the seven sisters on their own to continue on. The ‘eldest’ sister left them to live with her new husband, staying on the farm with him and his parents, while the remaining six continued on what they had been doing since the start. There were many occasions where they came close to being discovered, moments where they were almost killed while flying, many times where they came close to giving up, but Emelissé held her sisters to a higher standard and would not allow them to give in and be forced into marriage.
Eight years spent flying around Ireland, until the youngest learned of an island where magic creatures gathered together, free from discrimination and danger. They had a whole civilisation there, where the flock would definitely be safe, she said.
The other girls all started agreeing with hesitation, then with excitement when they discovered just how much it would benefit them to travel there.
As soon as possible.
Emelissé never once agreed with the idea, however she knew it was hard on the girls to be so isolated and said nothing against it, merely implying that if anything were to go wrong, the girls would never be allowed off the ground again.
Additional Information: Emelissé has never once in her life eaten human food and is not entirely sure she can.
