He'd agreed to the date. Surprise, surprise. Well, no turning back now.

But just because it was Angelo didn't mean that Tybalt was going to half-ass it. If there was a single thing he'd learned over his years of dating, it was never half-ass a date. It didn't matter who it was with, how important they were, how attracted he was to any of them... Especially a first date. Make it good. It certainly helped that every bone in Tybalt's body happened to be filled with chocolates and honey because he was romantic as hell, he just kept it very separate from his usual work life.

Luck happened to have it that he didn't have a long shift that day; he slipped away sometime midday and came back later in the early evening to pick up Angelo. He had said he was going to bring him somewhere, after all. He'd cleaned himself up while he was away and he definitely looked neater than one would after working at a desk, slaving over paperwork and running around catching criminals.

Tybalt wasn't nervous, despite it being a first date. He'd long grown out of that nervousness, and he knew Angelo well enough that it didn't feel threatening.

Angelo had not had the day off, but he still somehow managed to emerge from the station looking what could be politely called 'swank as hell'. Somehow he'd managed to find a nice button up shirt to go with his grey slacks. His hair was still an untamed mane, but he'd at least made an effort to keep it under control, and it was tied back slightly to keep it a bit more out of his face.

Tybalt had already seen his scars more or less - if he couldn't handle them being a bit more visible, dating wasn't really worth it.

He had also (although god only knew how) managed to come up with a small bundle of white violets. He doubted Tybalt was big on the language of flowers, but if he was, that was just an added bonus.

He emerged from the front of the station, the flowers held against his chest. His left hand, unfortunately, was full - he still had a bag of stuff to take home, and unfortunately it was going to have to tag along with him on his date.

"Picked a place?" He asked by way of greeting, proving that if nothing else, he wasn't a total romantic.

He wasn't expecting very much of Angelo, which was possibly the first mistake he'd make that night. He was expecting maybe his uniform, hair disheveled and wild, looking like he needed a sub dermal caffeine injection and sleep... But no, Angelo had to actually come out looking good today. Nice slacks, nice shirt, hair actually brushed and...

Flowers.

Hm...

"Yeah, I... Well not picked but... You know, you'll see when we get there." Well, at least they both looked the part, though he was hoping Angelo would be a bit more discrete so he wouldn't be firebombed with questions tomorrow.

"Anyways, so if you're read to go, we'll go."

Well, color him curious. He was genuinely eager to see just what Tybalt considered to be a romantic date. The fact that he wasn't saying just made him all the more interested.

"All ready. Have to bring my bag with me, but at least it's small." No giant backpack - just a bag that someone might carry groceries in. "And these, obviously, are for you." He paused, then presented the bundle of flowers to Tybalt, a mischievous little grin on his face. There was no question in his mind that Tybalt hadn't expected the flowers. Tybalt probably wasn't expecting anything from him, and Angelo planned to exceed expectations in every way.

Well, he didn't know what the bag was for, but he figured that he had enough in him to defend himself if Angelo decided he'd need to murder him with whatever was in it. He shrugged it off as nothing and was about to start going when Angelo held out the little bundle of white violets to him.

Tybalt paused, just staring for a moment, not quite getting it until a moment later. Then his cheeks went a little red and his mouth creased into a frown. "Must you, really?" It was true; he was, quite frankly, expecting nothing at all and instead he got some romance in turn. Damn it.

"Thank you." He huffed a little, reaching out to take the bundle before nodding down the street. "Now, are you ready to go?" He better be. He'd spent quite a few hours preparing, there was no need for it to all go to waste.

With that, he headed off in the direction he took every day. It wasn't too far of a walk, but he was fairly sure Angelo had never been before. In fact, if he had, it would be a tad creepy. The rows of city buildings gradually got shorter, morphing into greenery and trees, then into lawns as the steel and glass turned into brick and paneling.

"I must. I'd be a very poor date if I showed up with nothing for you. Were you expecting a football, or maybe me to insist we go to a sports bar?" He grinned at that, fully expecting for Tybalt to make assumptions based on how he acted at work. He wasn't exactly crass, but he didn't strike most people as a romantic.

"Ready as I'll ever be." He said, following behind.

Of course, the fact that they were following the same route Tybalt left by every day was not lost on him. At first he chalked it up to coincidence, but as they began to head into what was very clearly a residential area... well, it was pretty obvious where they were going.

So did Tybalt consider their lunch meetings to be retroactive 'dates' then? Because he didn't seem the kind of guy who brought his dates back to his place on the first date.

"Taking me home to meet your parents already?" He asked with a wink, deciding that was a nice compromise between teasing and genuinely inquiring. He doubted Tybalt actually lived with his parents, after all. In fact, Angelo was fairly certain that Angels didn't even have parents. Unless, you know, you counted God.

Well, Angelo had been right. He had assumed quite a few things; they'd been partners for a couple months now and yet Tybalt had made very little effort to actually get to know Angelo on a personal level. Sure they'd gone to shoot the shit every once in a while over coffee or dinner, but there had been nothing substantial to it. Now was probably the time to amend that.

Tybalt walked in largely silence. He liked to watch his surroundings rather than occupy the space with useless smalltalk, and he'd hoped Angelo would be the same. Of course, as the large buildings of the city gave away to the suburbs, Angelo just had to make a remark about it.

He got a light smack on the arm with the flowers in retort.

"'Course not." He didn't even have parents, damn it. "We're having dinner."

And just as he said it, his own little bloc of apartments came into view. Tybalt lived modestly, because if there was one sin he wasn't guilty of, it would have to be greed.

Ahhh, home sweet home it was then. He'd been right - they were going home. He was still curious, in large part because he had no idea where Tybalt lived, but he knew better than to inquire too obviously.

"Is this a 'we're getting chinese and watching a movie' or have you decided to put my flowers to shame by cooking dinner?" He didn't think Tybalt had mentioned being a master chef, but there was no question in his mind that there was a lot about Tybalt he didn't know.

Like his name, for one. "Before we properly start this date, I should probably get your name. I mean, 'Tybalt Capulette' is nice and all, but it's not terribly angelic, and it just makes you sound like the world's biggest shakespeare nerd." He'd gone and named himself after it, anyway. "I mean, you don't have to - I just kind of thing it'd be nice." He considered himself to be pretty open with his secrets, after all.

Tybalt was still undecided on whether or not he thought Angelo's constant joking and questions were endearing or not. He'd decide after dinner, when he wasn't quite as flustered and when he was in his own element. He couldn't help but chuckle mildly at his comment, telling himself that he might as well not dwell and be all deary.

"And how did you guess? Definitely not the former, anyways." He'd spent a decent chunk of the day cooking, and the smell wafted out at them from the kitchen when he finally got the door to his humble little space unlocked. "I wouldn't say I'm a master chef by any means, but I get by."

A couple thousand years of cooking made him, at the very least, decent.

The second question, however, gave him a moment of pause. So he wasn't quite planning on taking his name at just face value, huh? Tybalt had never been particularly secretive about his true name, but so rarely that it came up that he felt a little odd just discussing it. On top of that, how religious was Angelo, anyways? Would he know, if he told him? Entirely possible, but somewhat unlikely...

"Maybe if you get enough wine in me and ask me again." No, not right now.

Good God, he could smell it. Steak. He'd cooked him steak. This was only their first date, but he was deeply considering proposing to Tybalt then and there.

"I plan on it." He admitted, although he wasn't actually planning to get Tybalt drunk. He wasn't that kind of guy. If you couldn't get a kiss without getting the woman (or in this case man) sloshed, then you were doing a very poor job of it.

He stepped inside, taking a quick glance around. He hadn't really been expecting much of anything. He hadn't even given it thought. He lived in an apartment not unlike the one Tybalt lived in, if a bit bigger. Honestly, if you hadn't told someone it was one of theirs, it could have been either - they were pretty much interchangeable as far as decorating went. Angelo had a bit more personalization, but he supposed that was because he had more pictures around.

"I have to admit, you know how to set up a very nice date."
