Appearance Description:
Marie is a petite French girl standing at only 5’2” with a thin and lithe frame. Her lily white skin and fangs give away her vampiric origins—but she is only half-vampire, so she has rather small fangs that could go unnoticed if one isn’t paying too much attention. She has a beauty mark right next to her small and cute cupid’s bow lips. Her eyes are a warm amber, and her hair a stark black. Marie pays close attention to her appearance—her hair is always cut in a sleek bob, her eyebrows are always perfect, and her makeup is always natural but flawless.
Marie prefers to wear black and white, with very little color. She likes tailored jackets and long, stylish dresses. She always wears chic heels—in fact, her feet are so accustomed to heels that she can’t wear flat shoes without discomfort.
Personality Description:
Marie is a small young woman but takes herself very seriously. While many of the girls who work at Club Gambit are playful and bouncy, Marie stands out with her more elegant and mysterious air. She definitely has her fans among the patrons of Club Gambit who prefer a bit of mystery and aloofness from their servers.
Marie does, however, have a jealous streak that can be hard to contain at times. Her fellow server Bunny, who is the most popular female server at Club Gambit, has often been the victim of Marie’s petty insults. Bunny has tried to find common ground with Marie, but when Marie doesn’t like someone she is very persistent in her dislike.
The crazy thing is that while Marie obviously does not like Bunny, they frequently perform burlesque together at the club. For some reason, their strained relationships actually makes for very interesting tension on the stage and their performances are extremely popular.
Powers:
Marie is a Dhampir: half human and half vampire.
She is certainly not as strong as a vampire, and lacks many of the typical vampire traits: she cannot shapeshift, she cannot turn anyone into a vampire by her bite, she cannot brainwash others into being her slaves, and she is not bothered by typical vampire wards such as garlic, crosses, etc.
Blood Lust: Marie still craves blood as a vampire would, but she does not necessarily need it to live. She can eat regular food to get by, but if she abstains from blood long enough, she does start to feel sickly. She can also sense easily if someone blood is ‘good’ or not—for example, she can sense that Yura’s blood is poison and undrinkable just by being near her.
If she does drink someone’s blood, it isn’t enough to harm the person. In fact, a bite from Marie is typically nothing more than a little love bite during, ahem, intimacy.
Sensitivity to sunlight: Marie did unfortunately get this vampire trait—she cannot stand to go outside during the day time. The sun burns her flesh and could easily blind her.
She does have a coffin that she sleeps in at her apartment during the day time in order to shut out the sunlight. Artificial light, however, is not an issue so Marie is perfectly able to have a night life.
Biography: Born in the heart of Paris, Marie’s mother was a single human mother who had been in a relationship with a vampire briefly. Even though the two did not stay together, Marie’s mother found out she was pregnant and decided to keep the child. Thankfully, Marie’s mother was aware that her child was not human and took the proper precautions to handle a Dhampir child.
Marie was very attached to her mother, but at a young age she really had no choice but to be sent to Manta Carlos Islands. Marie’s mother felt strongly that Marie should go to a proper school, as opposed to being homeschooled by her, and since Marie couldn’t go out in the sunlight there was really no other option than to send her to Starlight Academy where they could work with her condition.
So Marie did go to school at Starlight Academy, from preschool until high school. She has yet to pursue a college education—still unsure that she even wants to. She started working at Club Gambit shortly after she graduated.
In time, her mother married a human man and they started a family of their own—but Marie always remained in contact and frequently visited. She feels a little out of place among her mother’s new family, but not so much that she would ever consider avoiding them.
