Dancing in the snow

Edward was dancing, twirling around on the roof. She was alone, finally, after an entire day of running off and having someone pop in a few seconds later. It wasn't that she hated people, but after a while it got annoying.

So she was doing what she always did when she was upset, dancing. Where no one could see her, not that she really cared.

The snow, at first, had been soft and deep, so that every time she took a step she'd had to pull her sneakers out from layers of fluff. But now it was pleasantly packed, the perfect dancing field. She paused a moment, grinning in excitement at her idea and crooking a finger over to the shadows hiding in the corners of the roof, shaping them into shadowy figures that mirrored her every move. Now that was more like it.

Ed dropped to the ground, her miniature shadow army doing the same, and spun around on her hands, keeping it up for a surprising amount of time before jumping back up again.

She looked like a snowflake, she decided, in her white coat, matching jeans.

Ok, fine. A break dancing snowflake.

Ooc: Yes. Break dancing. She's weird. *twitch* Open to anyone.

Noah slipped out the door that opened up on the roof, completely sure that no one else would be out there. It was the middle of night, below freezing, and snowing some sort of evil death-hail. Surely, anyone in their right mind would be in bed.

Of course, what was that saying about him?

He sighed, pulling out the transparent gloves that helped him keep people’s private thoughts exactly that, stopping for a moment to put them on. Although he doubted anyone else would be up there, they kept him more warm then any other gloves, and on a night like this that would be useful.

He finally looked up, glancing quickly over the roof to see if he was alone. He failed to see the girl until it was too late, just narrowly missing hitting her on the head with his foot, and falling into the snow beside her. great.. He sighed, wiping the snow from his glasses and frowning in disbelief at the ridiculous scene before him.

“Excuse me.” He cleared his throat, not bothering to get up and tapping her on the shoulder with his cane. “Hi. Can I get something straightened out? Are you.. Break dancing, on the roof, in the snow, with a friggin’ army of shadows?!” He paused, laughed. “You look like a little marshmallow.” A cute marshmallow, perhaps, and one very skilled in the art of break dancing. But a marshmallow, nonetheless.

Ed was spinning on her head when the boy had interrupted her, and was surprised enough that she fell on her back, letting out a quiet ‘oof’ as she hit the rock hard snow.

"It sounds bad when you put it that way." She sighed, pulling herself up and sitting next to him. "And I’m a snowflake, not a marshmallow." Another pause, just the time it took for her to realize he was sitting on the ground. "Did you hurt your head? My sister says it's not good to hurt your head." Ed sighed, taking off her glove and poking the supposedly afflicted area gingerly. “It looks swollen to me.. Why are you up here?”

Noah sucked in his breath, the flow of the girl's memories that the touch of her hand brought overpowering him for a moment. Oh, he hated his power.. He gently removed her hand from his face, placing it on her lap. "I'm fine. Are you..?"

"To be alone. One doesn't exactly climb all the way up here in the middle of the night to have a party.. Or maybe they do. How should i know?" He glanced up at the stars, instantly getting poked in the eye by a falling snowflake. Ah, the joys of winter.

"Noah Silvlia." He held out his hand for her to shake, forcing a quick smile. "Wanna tell me your name, or do you prefer i just call you marshmallow?"

Edward sighed, turning her dull black eyes on the boy. "I'm not going to leave." She announced, without much conviction. "This is the first place i've been where people.. Aren't, where questions aren't." She hugged her knees to her chest, rocking back and forth and staring up at the snow. "And now you're here.." Ed turned to him, smiling not-so-reassuringly. "But it's ok. We just won't talk questions."

She smiled again, shaping tiny snowballs with her mittened hands for a minature snowman. "Is that a nickname? I never had one of those before. Can i make a name for you? My name is Edward Winters." She stared at his hand for a few minutes before she remembered about shaking hands, finally doing so rather awkwardly from lack of practice. "It’s winter now.." She announced, pointing to the snow gathered on the roof. "Do you like winter?"

Noah frowned over at her, starting to become aware of the girl's slightly charismatic oddness. Although he did agree with her.. Why were the smart ones always insane? "I never asked you to leave. You were here first, weren't you? If anything, it'd be you telling me to go away." He brushed the access snow off his shirt, leaning back up against the small box that housed the stairs.

"I don't know. You'd like a nickname?" He turned, smiling at the sight of the girl playing with the snow. "I'm not surprised you've got Winter in your name.. You look so at peace in it." He leaned over, tucking a loose lock of hair behind her ear that had drifted down. "Come to think of it, you do look a bit like a snowflake - when you're not spinning around on your head." He drifted off, suddenly becoming aware of the shadowy figures still dancing. "So i'mma guess that's your power?"
