Sprinkles was, to put it frankly, at a lost for words. His life was nowhere near normal, but what Ganymede was saying felt unnerving. Was this how people felt when he spoke about his life? Of course, different people had to be raised in different ways. He met plenty of dragons that, if human, would be viewed as having an abusive family. Ganymede must have been in a similar situation. After all, he had magic before he came to this island.

Sprinkles took a few seconds to formulate a response. "My dad wasn't as strict, but... I might be able to understand where he's coming from. The internet is often inappropriate for a child. Plenty of predators and people who enjoy harassing others. Think of that Aedes girl who was being mean to you. That, and if you aren't extremely careful, it's possible you could have let what you are slip and break the Veil. I suppose your master didn't want you to be taken away." That made sense. No one had to be the bad guy. There was just a lot of bad decisions here.

"I'm... not very familiar with vampiric culture... so I don't want to be judgemental about it. I'm just happy you don't have to feel sick anymore. And Alma has a responsibility to be kind to all students as a student council member. I don't think she'd dislike you for being scared of pain. I'd think she'd be more concerned if anything."

Gany took a deep breath. Sprinkles was apologizing for his old master, and it made sense - if the internet could put bad things in his head or put him at risk, of course it made sense that he shouldn't have been looking at it.

But he had another explanation in his mind now. His therapist had suggested it as a possibility. "What if he just wanted to keep me isolated? And... dependent on him?" He waited a beat, letting it sink in that he was suggesting something like that. It was new for him, outside of therapy. "I've been thinking about this stuff a lot more, since I got here. And... I mean, everyone thinks he was abusive to me. I had it better than a lot of NEK0s, though, but..." He trailed off and shifted in his seat.

Sprinkles tensed. Most other NEK0s were in therapy. That he already knew. Ganymede looked to be considering what his therapist said much easier than how Sprinkles felt towards his therapist.

"It's... possible..." they admitted stiffly. "I, uh, I don't know. I don't think he treated you well, but..." For some reason, thinking that Ganymede's master might have been abusive made Sprinkles feel like he was attacking his own father. It caused his stomach to become tied into a knot. "All of this feels complicated. I don't think because you were treated better means you should feel like your problems aren't as important. I felt the same way when I came here... I still feel that way."
