The Manta Carlos Community Center
The Canon ICC takes place on the first floor of the Manta Carlos Community Center (sometimes called "the M3C"). Finished in late 2017, the Manta Carlos Community Center provides a space for all of the island's citizens to meet new people and enjoy each other's company.
The First Floor
The first floor of the M3C is a hub of recreational activity. There are board games, a foosball table, and televisions. The televisions are available for anyone who wants to put on a movie, or hook up their own game consoles. There are plenty of chairs and tables, as well as plenty of floor space. The majority of lounge chairs are similar to bean bags, allowing them to accommodate citizens of all body types.
At one corner there is a small lending library with several bookshelves, where any islander can take a book when they leave a book of their own. The M3C also provides local newspapers daily, free of charge. One wall holds a public bulletin board, which serves as a great place to advertise or hear about local events and more.
There are some vending machines up against a wall, as well as a small kitchenette. Free water, coffee, and tea are provided, although you have to make them yourselves. Biodegradable disposable cups are also provided. The kitchenette is open to the room, and is intended to help people bring food they've brought into the community center, not for preparing full meals.
All roleplaying in the canon ICC setting is limited to this area.
The Upper Floor
The upper floor of the building has small meeting rooms / classrooms which are usually locked, but can be reserved in advance for various purposes. They are becoming a popular spot for activities like book clubs, sewing classes, and seminars open to non-students.
The bathrooms are also on this floor. The floor is accessible via stairs and elevator. The upper floor can only be roleplayed on the forums, not within the canon ICC.
Outside
Right outside the community center is a community garden. Farther away, one can find the food trucks and food carts of Oceania Park, as well as a few nearby coffee shops. It's not unheard of for people to bring food and drink from these places into the community center. Failing to clean up after oneself is highly frowned upon, however.
The outdoors can only be roleplayed on the forums, not within the canon ICC.
A Note on Security and Laws
The community center is under video surveillance. Furthermore, police officers are frequently near or inside of the community center itself. These factors combined make it very difficult to get away with criminal activity in the area.
In order to ensure the center is safe and friendly to all, several restrictions are made very clear via signs near the entrance. Drugs and alcohol are not allowed on the premises, and while weapons can be carried, they must be secured. Brandishing a weapon within the community center is a criminal offense.
