It was cold, Marcus though, wrapping his parka tight around him. Ideally, this place, the school courtyard wasn't where he wanted to give out presents, especially during the winter season, but is a tradition, it seemed he had no other choice. Waiting just inside the gates, he looked around for anyone that might match the description he was given for his secret Santa.

In his hands was his present. Thanks to the money his parents were sending for him to stay on the island, he had plenty to pay for a proper gift, being a new hi-tech camera. it seemed a bit much, but honestly, he wasn't sure what else he could get them.

Theo was quite used to cold of the mild sort (He wasn't Canadian, after all), having spent his university days in places where it regularly dipped below zero overnight. After all, Christmas was supposed to be snowy and cold. The courtyard was where the Secret Santa pairs were supposed to meet up. To be honest, he wasn't very sure why he had signed up for it, but it would be nice to surprise somebody with a nice gift, especially knowing that many of the island's residents will not go home for Christmas. Dressed in a scarf and a jumper, he strolled around the courtyard, searching for his partner.

In his hands was a gift-wrapped bundle. He had read the recommended presents list and had decided on an encyclopaedia (There's bound to be enough things in there, right?), several books about Manta Carlos, and a gift card for the video game shop in town just in case what he chose wasn't right. The courtyard wasn't particularly crowded. Soon, Theo spotted his exchange partner, a small, dark-haired bloke standing near the gates.

"Happy holidays!" He called out, walking over.

Hearing a voice, he turned to see a larger guy walking towards him."Happy holidays to you too!" Marcus responded, grinning. This was the guy he was waiting for.

Holding the box with the camera in front of him, he quickly said. "This is for you" There was no sense drawing this part out.

"Thank you very much," Theo noticed that his partner - Marcus, it said his name was - also had a British accent. More educated than his own. He was inclined to say posher. "Lovely weather. Where are you from?"

Theo was a little surprised when Marcus handed him the package directly without any commentary, but he accepted nonetheless. Carefully unwrapping the package, he let out a small gasp when he saw what Marcus had gotten him. It was a camera he's had his eyes on for a while as something to splurge on when he's got more the spend to replace the old one he had now, but he hadn't expected to get something so expensive and nice for a simple gift exchange. His own gift paled a bit by comparison.

"This is..." Theo searched for the right word. "Wow. This- Thank you so, so much. What a wonderful gift.." He forced himself to wipe the stupid grin off his face before he seemed daft. "Uh, here's mine. Hope it's alright."

He held out his box awkwardly in front of him.

"Oh, Cambridge" He answered. "What about you? I haven't really met many others from England." Marcus couldn't agree less about the weather, however, as being inside most of his life, he wasn't really fond of the cold.

"Thanks," Marcus simply said as he accepted the box from the Boy, who obviously enjoyed his gift. He must have done well in choosing it. Unwrapping his own gift and opening the box, Marcus himself was amazed. While it wasn't as expensive as what he gave, it was exactly what he was looking for. There were books about the island, as well as an encyclopedia, the best thing he could have, considering his powers.

And if that wasn't enough, he also got a gift card to the local game store. His parents wouldn't agree with him if he were to buy games, so this would be the perfect way to get the new releases without them realising.

"Seriously, thanks. You don't understand what these mean to me."
