Name: Claire Kennedy
Age: 16
Birthday: September 16
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: 10
Species Abilities: Inapplicable, she's just a human.
Powers:
Psychokinesis and Limited Telepathy
At the moment, Claire's abilities aren't all that powerful. Her psychokinesis covers two distinct abilities - photokinesis and telekinesis. Telekinesis, with how often it appears in various media, speaks for itself. It's the ability to move objects via signals projected outward from the mind. Claire's telekinesis only works as far as objects she herself could lift with her arms - anything heavier gives her extreme headaches. The photokinesis is a little useless unless she gets trapped in a dark place - it's literally just the power to produce light. In Claire's case, this light is at the strength of a typical, strong flashlight and emanates from the palm of her left hand.
Claire's telepathy is where her problems with other people originate. Though limited to vague signals and errant thoughts, Claire is able to pick up on the way other people think and operate, provided they have no means of blocking her probing about.
Biography: Claire's life before the Academy isn't something she brings up very often, if at all. She's from the United States, specifically Texas, where she lived with her mother, father and older brother. Up until she hit the age of 10, her life was relatively normal. Bumps and bruises, fun times spent with friends - the average kid experience, you know. It was a few months after her tenth birthday that her abilities began to surface. Imagine, just for a moment, objects going flying across rooms with no visible cause, or hearing clipped voices and feeling emotions other than your own at the back of your mind. That was the first year of Claire's experience with her power, and it marked the end of her normal life. Her family, while not excessively religious, treated her as a threat when the movement of things and strange flashes of light were eventually connected to her, overreacting to small things she would do and behaving as though she was mere steps away from killing them all.
With age came a steady strengthening of her powers. They grew more stable, the voices coming through grew clearer, and by 14, Claire was used to catching drifting, unpleasant thoughts about herself when at home. It hurt immensely to know her family saw her as a monster, but she also thought herself incredibly lucky that they still allowed her to live in peace. The next year was much of the same, until that December. A letter was carelessly tossed into her room by her desperately retreating mother - an invitation to the Academy. As mentioned before, Claire knew she was extremely lucky that her parents hadn't tossed her out or tried to be rid of her yet, but she knew at the back of her mind that it couldn't last. She had to leave eventually, and this invitation was the best opportunity to do so with minimal backlash. She put together the belongings she cared for most, and by New Years', she was gone without a trace. This entire experience would probably not leave gaping scars on her psyche.
Definitely.
Maybe.
It did though.
