Charlene

Charlene stands at 5’ 4” with a slim figure and long, unruly blonde hair that reaches her lower back. Her eyes are an unnatural red-orange, and she has pronounced eyelashes that seem heavy with mascara despite her never wearing makeup.

She dresses in plain, functional attire. She used to wear whatever her owners supplied her with, but now all she has is one dirty outfit for the time being. She has no real preference when it comes to clothing, or rather has ever been given the opportunity to form an opinion. All she knows is that functional clothing is preferable, because it makes working easier.

Many different Fae has branded her as she has been moved from owner to owner over the years and has a variety of markings on her back. When she is unbound from a Master, the mark remains but becomes faint—and since she now has no owner, all of them are faint.

Although Charlene is technically a few hundred years old, she is mentally and physically only about 17 due to Underhill granting her immortality and the different flow of time in Underhill versus the outside world.​

Charlene has very little ‘personality’ on the surface. She fully believes she exists to serve the Fae, and is completely and utterly obedient to whoever is her Master. If she does not have a Master, than she is obedient to all Fae equally. Her face always remains neutral and she expresses little emotion as to not be an inconvenience.

Being ‘raised’ by Fae has made Charlene very fae-like in her personality in many of ways, despite her clearly being a human. Not surprisingly, she treats Fae as the most superior beings—referring to all Fae as ’sir’ and ‘ma’am’, but she will not speak as formally to non-Fae. Polite, but not formal. As a newcomer to Manta Carlos, she gets nervous speaking to non-Fae and still doesn’t quite know how to interact with anyone.

But despite her submissive behavior, there is a hint of the human girl that could have been to those who pay attention. She laughs at jokes, before quickly catching herself and stopping. She actually enjoys doing some of her ‘useless talents’ that she gained to entertain her Masters, though she does not obviously show this in her expression.

As of now, Charlene literally has no idea how to function without a Master. She has just been wandering Manta Carlos aimlessly, sleeping on park benches and eating berries in the forest.

Charlene’s time spent in Underhill granted her a couple of different powers—all of which were not to her benefit, but to the benefit of her Fae Masters. Fae utilize slaves for different purposes, and Charlene found herself becoming skilled in all these different purposes as she was traded from one Master to another. Eventually, Underhill granted her special abilities that made her more useful for these different purposes, separated by manual labor, entertainment, and pleasure.​

Because Charlene was such a good, proper slave—one of her masters granted her the special ability to shapeshift into a couple of animals. This was mostly for the benefit of the Fae more so than Charlene herself.

Charlene can become a horse for manual labor. A wolf or a bear to fight and protect. A crow to deliver messages. Charlene has to be aware of the existence of any animal she shifts into and since she is poorly educated, she is only really aware of forest creatures and whatever the Fae actively taught her about.​

This ‘power’ is pretty basic: she can show off any sort of useless but entertaining talent that her Master will enjoy, such as: firing an arrow with her feet, contortion tricks, juggling, acrobatics, etc. The power also makes her an excellent dancer.

With the exception of dancing, she can only show off these talents when she is entertaining her Master. Otherwise, she cannot recreate them. Dancing in the only talent she has learned outside of her power.​

The Gift: Immortality: As a useful slave, Underhill granted Charlene the gift of immortality so that she can be of use for centuries to come. She cannot die of old age, and she will never experience illness. She can be killed, but it has to be by a Fae or by an iron weapon if wielded by a non-Fae.

WEAKNESSES​

The Curse: Slave to the Fae: As a Fae-raised human, Charlene is magically inclined to always obey the Fae. If she is bound to one particular Fae as their slave, then she only has to obey the orders of that one Fae. If she is not bound to any Fae, however, then she has no choice but to obey any command by any Fae.

Iron weakness: Charlene has gained a weakness to iron as many Fae have. Just touching it does not cause too much trouble—maybe just a rash at most. But if she is stabbed with an iron weapon, it will cause the wound to be much more difficult to heal. Not an instant death sentence, but a complication.

RESOURCES

Charlene was stolen as a baby and raised by the Fae her entire life. As already hinted at in the rest of her profile, Charlene was stolen away to become a slave to the Fae—used in a variety of ways by a variety of Masters. She was traded between Seelie and Unseelie courts alike and, well, pretty much every Master treated her poorly in their own ways.

Unseelie Masters tended to be straightforward—beating and raping her when they were not satisfied with her work. Seelie were the more difficult ones. They could be kind and happy one minute, than whipping her the next for reasons she could not even fathom. All she knew was that the more obedient she was, the less beatings she received. She was raised to be an obedient slave, and never attempted to rebel. It was the only life she knew.

Her most recent Master, an Unseelie Fae by the name of Ainsley Orith, brought Charlene with him to Manta Carlos shortly after buying her from her previous owner. Things got a little…unusual for him after he tried using her as a pleasure slave for the first time.

Because she became a man.

The truth was, Ainsley has latent homosexual desires for a long time that he refused to acknowledge. He would just brush them off and distract himself with other things. When he had sex with Charlene the first time, however, he really had to face his deepest, hidden desire.

Eventually, he met a man on the island who he could not deny his attraction to. When he decided to pursue this man, Charlene became of no use to him. So he took his new lover back with him to Underhill, and left Charlene behind.

And…that is where Charlene is now. She no longer has a Master to tell her what to do, or to supply her with basic necessities. Havig been a slave in Underhill her entire life, she has no idea how to take care of herself or how the ‘outside world’ works.

Unaware of homeless shelters, Charlene has been sleeping on the streets and on park benches. Her dirty clothing has started to slowly unravel from her. She doesn’t know how to approach others, so she hasn’t tried.

She’s scared, alone, lost…and wishing she just had a Master so that she could function again.​
