Hey guys, we split this off from the main announcement in order to make sure everyone sees it, because it's a fairly significant change to our rules. In the last few months we've increasingly seen a large variety of character images coming out, but we've also seen ourselves steering into increasingly grey areas.
SA is a creative site, and we aim to respect other people's creativity as well. So we're adjusting the way we handle art for character images.
The old version of the rule allowed any art, so long as it was not an original character (used without permission). The new version of the rule reads as follows:
We understand this will require changing character images for many people, so we wanted to give you as much warning as possible. This rule will come into effect in February, giving people the rest of the month to adjust. If you need help finding an image source, please don't hesitate to ask. For most people, this will just be a matter of adding the necessary information onto the application.
If you have any questions, or aren't sure about anything, please don't hesitate to ask the staff.

This applies to all character images. Images used in applications should be credited there. Images used in the ICC should be credited in the mini profile.Starlight Academy does not have a face-claim system. We do not track which characters use which faces. We allow the use of art, fanart, concept art, or real life people, with the following conditions:
- Commissioned / Personal Art: Art should be credited. If the artist is yourself, note that.
- All Other Art: Art must be credited. You should mention the character name, the artist name, and include a link back to the artist's page. If you cannot identify the artist, the art cannot be used. If the artist requests you not repost their work, the art cannot be used. Official art can be used, but should still link back to the source where possible.
-Unofficial art (fanart, etc) should not be edited without the artist's permission. Please note when official art has been edited, and by who.
- Editing an image solely to remove the signature is not allowed. When cropping art, please try and leave the signature in where possible.
- Commissioned art and adoptables created for or owned by someone other than yourself should not be used without permission from the owner.
- Real Life: Playbys should be one of the following: Professional Model (with a modelling agency page, patreon, etc), Stock Photo (released for free public use), or Media Star (with either a Wikipedia page, or having starred in a TV show/movie). Please reference the subject and link back to their their IMDB page, patreon, agency page, or to the original source of the image.
