Name: Causper Alynn Green
Age: 19
Birthday: February 23, 1997
Gender: female
Species: half Jorōgumo
Category: Academy Staff
Class: N/A
Subject/Work: Scout in Training for Starlight Academy
Appearance Description: Causper appears mostly human, doing all she can to hide the spidery traits of her natural appearance. When left unattended, her dark hair spikes up in entirely unnatural ways, so she usually applies excessive amounts of hair spray to keep it straight. Her irises are typically as pitch black as her pupils, however she wears contacts to make them seem like a dull murky green. Her two incisors have points, resembling small fangs. Aside from those few differences, she appears to be a normal human being.
In her demon form, Causper’s eyes become entirely black. Her fangs extend past her lip, just enough to give her a bit of a lisp to avoid piercing her lip with them. A second pair of arms grows from her side, usually tearing through fabric if she's wearing anything. A black, exoskeleton-like covering shields her forearms and most of her torso and neck. It is strongest around the most vulnerable areas, such as between her waist and her chest.
Personality Description: Causper seems rather apathetic to her surrounding environment, but only because most times she's never really there. The rest of the time, she just doesn't know what to do. Causper’s voice is very soft, and she only speaks after carefully considering her words. She's scared of losing herself to the ‘monstrous’ side of her ancestry, so she tries to hide the visible aspects with hair products and contacts.
Like a spider, it's hard to notice Causper’s presence until she's gotten too close for comfort. You know the spider can't hurt you, but the fact that it set up camp so close by without you noticing tends to be unnerving, but just like the small arachnids, she's more concerned about you than you are of her. The people she sees in her visions tend to have something wrong, and she's become naturally inclined to try and fix it.
When Leo is nearby, she's much less guarded and silent. The naturally curious and bubbly personality she had when she was young seeps through the cracks in her armour of silence.
Powers: Causper has the psychic ability of Remote Viewing. This allows her to see what's happening in other places at the present time. Very rarely is she actually controlling what she sees, preferring for fate to show her what she needs to see. The power is dimmed by water, the images distorting like water based paints in the rain. The larger the expanse of water is, the more it will disrupt the image. Water contained in plastics or metals don't interrupt, however underground rivers and springs will, as well as aboveground bodies of water. Anything from across an ocean is nothing more than a jumble of colours, while seeing something through the rain or over a small river is just blurry at the edges.
Much less of a power and more of a learned trade, Causper can predict the future with generally accurate results. This is done using tarot cards, rune stones, or even a set of knuckle bones, and is meant to provide general advice as opposed to a defined outcome.
Species Abilities: Causper has a paralytic venom in her fangs only active in her demon form. The venom must be inserted directly into the bloodstream to have any effect. It wears off after approximately an hour, and affects different areas depending on where the bite is and how much venom was injected. A bite to the wrist with only small amounts of venom paralyses the arm, while a large amount of venom in the wrist can paralyse the entire body. A bite to the neck will paralyse the spinal cord with small amounts of venom, while large amounts paralyse the entire torso. When injested, the venom reacts similar to melatonin, making the consumer subject to excessive drowsiness.
As well as the venom, Causper has the ability to create silk like threads from her hands and feet. This is not limited to her demon form, and she has full access to it in her human form. The threads can vary between sticky and non-sticky in a range of different sizes. The largest is as thick as her palm is wide, and is mostly used for support. The smallest is barely half a millimeter thick and used for creating a nearly invisible web like the small spiders usually found in houses.
Biography: While her mother was a Jorogumo, Causper herself was raised by a human father. They started out in Australia, a five hour drive from civilization. Their closest neighbor was a ten minute walk away, but Causper still made the trip nearly everyday after her fifth birthday to visit. Calia was well known for practicing voodoo and making good luck charms, but Causper was more interested in seeing the future, just like her neighbor would.
Being homeschooled meant that she could go everyday after her work was finished. Day after day, she did as much as she could early in the morning so she could spend all afternoon learning to make charms and use mediums like cards and stones to tell the future. Calia would try to teach the little girl how to see the future, however it seemed as much as she was picking up the ability to use mediums, Causper was entirely unable to see the future through other means.
After Calia’s murder, Causper and her father moved to france to live with his sister. It was here, the moment she landed on french soil, where she decided what to do with her powers. People needed help. She was going to help them. It was what her dad had done, before he’d gotten sick. It was what Causper would do, until she couldn't anymore.
Of course, the vigilante life wasn't her style. No, instead she would call the police if it was dangerous. The only time she would leave home to help was if it could be solved simply by being there to listen and speak reason. Even her tarot cards were able to help on a few occasions. As soon as she had enough of an education behind her to start learning on her own she began travelling with her aunt. She tested the limits of what she could do, always staying out of danger when possible. It was always the little things that helped the most. A Charlotte’s Web type message to a suicidal teen. An umbrella held over a widow crying in the rain. A cool head to talk to a person with special powers raging in the streets.
It was while traveling that she met Leo. She watched from the other side of the country as his mother corrupted herself with black magic. Within the next few hours, she qas sitting next to him.
Causper started making a list of people she met who were like Leo, magical people who were in a lot of trouble. She kept track of them as best she could. Not that Leo needed much keeping track of. When something happened to him, it hit her like a brick. It was years before she saw him agian. Within a few hours of his father's attempt at killing Leo, only to be killed himself, Causper was once agian at his side, extending a hand towards him. “Come with me.” It wasn't an offer, a demand, or a question. It was just a statement that promised safe haven.
The duo travelled together, her providing support for Leo while he recovered from his parents’ passing, and him keeping her company, relieving her of the stress that she might be losing her humanity. They helped a number of people, all around the globe.
Saturday, July 30th, 2016. The duo was approached by a scout from Starlight Academy. The scout offered safety and schooling on how to use their powers. Causper listened, then simply pointed at the scout, knowing before he spoke what she intended to do with her life. “I want to work for you.”

11:00 am, May 20th, 2004. Causper arrived at Calia’s home, noticing a car crashed into a ditch further down. The door was ajar, and she could hear the woman arguing with someone in the kitchen. It was a man’s voice. He had an accent but Causper couldn't tell where from. The eight year old girl stepped into the kitchen just in time to see the foreigner strangle Calia, shoving her against the sink. As the fight drained out of her, Causper watched the man sink a chef's knife deep between the limp woman's ribs. Next was a paring knife, stabbed up to the grip through her left temple. A steak knife went through the other. A melon baller removed the glassed over eyes with a sickening squelch. A bread knife cut through the flesh of her neck, catching on the bone and refusing to cut deeper. In aggravation, the man took a carving knife and began separating skin from bone. Through this entire exchange, Causper could see the entire situation as if she was on both sides of the room watching herself watch. Half way through removing the intestines, he realized he was being watched. Slowly, he stood. Slower, he turned. Causper looked him straight in the eyes for all of three seconds before he was shot dead. Her father had heard on the radio about an escaped serial killer.
