APPEARANCE
feminine/default x masculine x true formWisp likes to use the body the island offers - a human, tangible form. Wisp’s body doesn’t really have much of a shape to it, with a slightly smaller waist than their bust and slightly rounder hips. Their hair has been kept longer, laying down just two inches below their armpits. It’s unclear whether or not their hair is natural - but they often claim it is - in how half of their hair is pastel pink while the other is a pastel blue, fading to lavender in the center which gives the appearance of cotton candy. Their skin tone is on the darker side in contrast to their hair, softer violet eyes staring at the others. When their abilities are activated, the veins in their body turn white-ish blue and ones closer to the surface can be seen. They stand at a maximum natural height of 4’11”, sometimes higher if they decide heels are a good idea that day. They have standard and upper lobe piercings. Wisp likes to play with their makeup out of the most things in their closet - it’s literally their job. They keep simple but eye catching make up, with simple eyeliner and bold lips or the other way around - they have a particular fondness of simple gold eye liner and a more natural color palette (though they define natural as shades of nature, not the modern “nude” style). They try to keep onto the latest trends, but mostly just dresses for convenience and comfort given they’re on their feet for a good portion of the day running between make up booths. Their wardrobe has a plethora of styles, but they seem to enjoy having the variety that more feminine clothing has to offer. They have short brown and black wigs for if they want to avoid their natural hair, and sometimes temporarily dye their hair as not stand out for large events. Without the islands option of a human form, they are only two inches tall. From afar, they look like a candle light - but instead they are a soft blue. They say, when a wisp is angry, they become tinted red and the same is true for Wisp. It is rare for Wisp to allow anyone up close in this form, but upon closer inspection they have the appearance of a “chibi”. A head that is approximately a third of their total height, the rest of them is ghostly and makes it appear as if they were a long dress and sleeves that move down in a cone. PERSONALITY
Wisp is dramatic, over the top, and vivacious - to describe them in the simplest of terms. They thrive on attention, always seeming to run their mouth despite their poor use of the English language. They will talk to anyone about pretty much anything, even if they have no idea what the subject is - they will give conversation to have conversation. They demand to leave an impression in one way or another, they feel the psychological need to be remembered. If someone asks why they go to such extremes, they will deny any connection to their old but firmly set abandonment issues. Because of their loose grasp on the English language, they can come across as rather childish - which is not untrue. They will pout and whine when they don’t get their way, trying to get it in other ways until there is practically no path to get it or until there is no way to get it without worse consequences. They are still learning all of the social norms of the island, and are actively trying to learn everything they can, often mimicking the way others hold themselves or talk in hopes of picking up on something. Manta Carlos still scares them with all of the unspoken rules they are expected to follow. Still, they are not completely uncultured - because of their upbringing and their own high self esteem, they hold themselves with almost an authority. Some of their behavioral patterns seemed old fashioned and peculiar, sometimes seem just plain bizarre when they recommend the course of action they would have taken. But they have slowly started to adapt, more muttering things under their breath but still letting things still slip out sometimes. And while they have learned to at least look like they have everything figured out, they constantly struggle with a feeling of being out of place. HISTORY
Wisp had, originally, been human. On the coastal regions of what is now Denmark, Wisp had been born into a tribe of vikings. While they had been a regular member, they often participated in many of the duties no matter their position in the tribe. They had a particular affinity for the more religious aspects, helping prepare and carry out their traditions and rituals. When not working, they would often be found in the forests just laying in the foliage or the trees to just enjoy nature. But as they wandered, they were one of the few who would encounter others who wandered for land. While Wisp was not immediately hostile, the others could be. A group had followed them back to the tribe, in hopes of converting them to their religion. The tribe protested, ,as their roots and traditions had been so deeply ingrained in their religion that they fought for it. Conversations turned into arguments. Arguments escalated to threats, and then threads lead to violence. The tribe was against a cause much stronger than they had realized. They came in the night, when Wisp had been on their way back from gathering a flower needed for a ritual that had only bloomed during moonlight hours. Their blood stained the ground, tainting the petals of the flowers they had gathered and marking the first act of a small war for the tribe. The advancements of the other parties materials destroyed the village, taking them down and taking anything they saw useful - including some of the villagers. Wisp had been sure they would move to the afterworld, to meet the deity they had believed would help them cross over. But the way Wisp explains it, this did not happen. They claim that their dedication to nature, to their religion had softened the hearts of their gods. That nature had given them a second chance in their life as a Will of the Wisp. While it had been instinct that brought them to the forest, some could argue it was fate. Wisp says that they were one of the few given a chance to help lead others to their fates. So Wisp laid in the forest in which they had lost their life, guiding those who treated them well to their fates and the lost from forests. But for those who treated them and nature poorly, they were left to be lost in the expansive trees and foliage until they appeased the other spirits or until death - though Wisp seemed to favor the latter. A young alchemist had found them, treating them kindly enough for Wisp to lead them out of the forest. But the child came back, again and again over the years. Wisp showed them where to find ingredients and sang them songs, befriending them. The alchemist would laugh and sing with them, playing them music from their phones and radio, even introducing them to more modern things. Wisp had been fascinated with make up, helping the alchemist make their own using things in the forest, and would sometimes be allowed to put it on. The alchemist had disappeared for years, before finally returning with a letter. Wisp had been invited to the island. The alchemist offered to bring them there, to help them through schooling. Wisp accepted, attending some supplementary classes to get them up to date just enough so they could get the classes they sought after. And then they applied for a job at the local modeling company, their unique style and palettes catching the interest of the professionals. SPECIES ABILITIES
As a Will of the Wisp, Wisp is capable of mimicking light. Their body can glow, like that of a candle - they flicker with the wind and shine significantly brighter in darkness. While they can use their abilities in this state, they are significantly weaker since they are focused on keeping a larger form in the state of mimicry unless they are in their true form - which since they arrived on the island, they have not been in. Additionally, Will of the Wisps are capable of confusing one target at a time, making them forget where they were or why they were there. Though often used to help lure people to their death, the user can also use it to create a distraction enough to let them escape. This can only affect one person at a time. Any reminder to snap someone back into their own mind, or anyone who has a strong will can counteract this ability. Wisp can also shift their body so they cannot be seen or touched - generally one at a time as doing both simultaneously takes a tremendous amount of energy. While they are unable to be seen -or invisible- they can be touched. Anyone who has a hyper awareness of their environment can find them, and they can still be touched and make noises of movement while just invisible. While unable to be touched -or intangible- they cannot pick up other objects or persons. They can still be seen in this state - however unless they have some kind of grip they can only go through objects horizontally. They can only pull people through objects with them if they are connected through skin to skin contact. They have a harder time controlling their intangibility and will sometimes just accidentally drop objects or drop through a floor if they are not actively keeping themselves solid. Will of the Wisps are semi-immortal, or rather have an elongated life span. They can be harmed my magical weaponry and magic. Their bodies heal as slowly as a humans, and they feel the same amount of pain - meaning if they are stabbed or shot they feel the same level of pain as any human and can heal the same way but their lives are only taken by magical weapons. Any injury inflicted by magical weapons requires an outer force such as another's magic to heal them. Their final species ability is flight however they cannot go very high. The highest they have been able to go as of yet is ten feet which heavily strains their body since they usually only hover above the ground and the more mass they have, the harder it is to fight the gravity. Even in their true form where they are very small, they are heavily strained if they go to their maximum height of ten feet off the ground. OTHER
Wisp's default language, the language of the Will of the Wisps, is a series of jingles. They have a magical item that translates to English specifically for their job. Outside of work, they just try to speak in their slowly improving English. |
