"That's really good to know, makes my job a bit easier if you do decide to be a firefighting recruit," she joked a bit when Bastet informed her that her father had let her know that fire management and prevention was much more than just putting out fires and saving victims.

"You have mentioned your mother," she pointed out, "What does she think about you being here all alone on Manta Carlos," she asked, quite curious about this.

"Oh, mom? She's fine with it. Sure, at first she was reluctant, we didn't know where Manta Carlos was, a few times there was the thoughts it was a scam, but since the island is a place for special folk, she believed it would be better for me. Without dad around, if I mutated or something there would be no way for her to help me, so for my best she decided to believe in Starlight Academy.", crossing her arms and looking down to the table, Basté seemed to be a bit thoughtful.

"And your mother?" Ivana asked gently as she regarded Bastet, noticing her change in mood. "Why didn't she come to the island with you?" she asked. It wasn't that uncommon for parents to follow a child. She knew a few families that had come to the island with their children.

"My mother is involved in a good deal of cases in Japan, she might consider moving in if opportunity is given at a later point, plus she believes I'm grown enough to take care of myself.", Basté gave a content sigh at that, "It will be complex for her job however, to handle cases outside Japan. I still ping her via messaging apps and we talk via phone."

Ivana just sipped at her coffee as Bastet spoke. She honestly could not see her own mother being like Bastet's. But then again, the Ivanka of today was not the Ivanka of four hundred years ago. So who knows what she would have done.

"Has your mom been to Manta Carlos yet? And has she seen where you are living and studying? And do you miss her at all?" she asked, suddenly full of questions now.

That sudden wave of questions could not pass unnoticed. It was almost like a pattern, something she has seen before in school right after her father passed away. People who tried to sympathize with her back then, bombarding with questions on how she felt, if she cried, what would she do, what about her mother and siblings... Not very weird for her.

"Does Ivana misses her mom or something?", but brushing this thought aside for a brief while, she went on to respond: "Nope, none of us has been here, not even my father. I did send some pictures to her via phone, but mom feels a bit indifferent in terms of facilities' appearance and went on to ask about features, so I did explain about their having power classes and the like, which managed to draw out a relieved sigh. If I miss her... A lot. Every single night she would hug me before going to sleep."
