Naoko loved Disney movies, which was a pity, because she'd decided to run the latest Disney movie--the live action beauty and the beast--during election week. Attendance was spotty at the best of times in the age of netflix, but during election week the theater was almost empty. A few couples had arrived, grabbed seats throughout the theater, and settled in, but Naoko--and Naoko alone--was the sole member of the film club proper in attendance.
And if she was being honest with herself, it was pretty boring. There was no one to talk to, no one to compare with. Naoko had grabbed a seat near the entrance to the darkened theater to catch any stragglers, but the movie was already well underway, and she doubted she'd be catching anyone else coming in.
Maybe it was for the better.
