What's this? A new contest type you say? Yep, a whole new contest type, just for you guys. This could be considered a beta test, because you can expect things to change between this first run and the next run. Please read carefully in order to make sure you get everything right, and don't be afraid to ask questions about how this will be run.
What Kind of Contest is This?
This is a contest to create a character draft for a specified AU or theme. Essentially, you'll be making an app outline (not necessarily a fully written app, but it could be, if it's short). You don't have to follow the format posted, but the app should be original, and should be a version of one of your existing (accepted) characters. Applications will be judged on creativity, faithfulness to the original character app, and the overall general concept.

For example, if the example was 'werewolf AU', and you made your half-wolf character into a werewolf, that would be faithful, but not terribly creative. If you had a character who had been attacked by an animal in the past as a significant part of their character history, and rewrote it so it was a werewolf attacking them (leading them into their career as a werewolf hunter), that would be both creative and faithful.
How Do I Enter?

To enter, grab the form in the second post, decide your idea, fill it out, and then PM IT TO THOTH. Please do not post it here, but instead send it via the conversations function. All entries will be publically posted after the entry period is over. Anyone can enter as long as they have at least one accepted character (if you're accepted during the contest period, that's fine), but since staff will be doing the judging, staff cannot win.
Any Other Restrictions?

In order to give everyone time to enter, the contest period will take ten days of entries. The winners will be announced (and all entries posted publically) on the 1st of the following month.
Other Rules:

There is a word count limit of two thousand words for the entire application. Remember that it doesn't have to be a full app - it could easily be considered a rough draft. As long as you get the firm idea through, that's enough.

There's only one entry allowed per person.
April Alternate Universe Contest: ZOMBIES
Entries Close 23:59 EST on April 25
We're going with something everyone is familiar with for our first ever AU contest - zombies! In this case, you can do a zombie apocalypse, zombies come to Manta Carlos, or even a no-Manta-Carlos version of the zombie apocalypse. The world is your horribly rotten oyster.

And the entries have been judged!

WINNER

With a good half dozen entrants, the winner of the first AU Contest is... @Claire!

Claire went pretty unique with this one, doing a zombified robot, of all things. A neat spin on zombies, and not one I expected. You can read her app (as well as the apps of the runners up) below.

Character being adapted: Marina Harimatina
Link to original character application: Link
Notes: Not a traditional zombie
Name: Mar
Age: 17
Gender: Ambiguous, they pronouns
Species: Robotic zombie
Profession: Student

Appearance Description:
Due to the transformation, their once long blonde hair as shaded into a mossy color, shaggy in length ranging from just over their ear line to their shoulder. Their eyes have faded to a lava stone tone, looking dead and lifeless. They have a darker undertone, their artificial veins more visible, as the dark liquid pumps through them. Most of their female robotic assets, such as breasts, long hair, and a general female structure, had morphed into a mix between. Looking at them, they either looked like a unkept and undeveloped girl or a little boy before puberty. Their height
shrunk to 5'0, as the features keeping them upright was bend and eventually shattered, causing them to have a right swing to their back. This caused them to have to limp in a circular motion, moving their body weight forward, then left, back right and finally back to the front every step.

Personality Description: Lifeless. Even before turning into a zombie, Mar didn't have any emotions. This factor only helped them, as if wasn't out of their software to not act like it was a big deal that they were now a robot (not that they could). They have little to no personality, as they did beforehand.

Powers/ Species Abilities: As their power before was to be able to speak every language, they are now able to translate any language into the moans of the dead. They can translate the groans over zombies make and put it back to whatever language the other person speaks. They too can talk this bizarre language. Thankfully, Mar can still talk every language, though their words are a bit slower.

Now with their new body and mind, they are able to place their hands on someone's head, on the temples, they are able to gain some knowledge from them. This knowledge keeps Mar alive. This doesn't not damage the persons memory or knowledge, as they pretty much just copy the information. This is only temporary, as Mar has to do this every three days or they will start to lose their powers and mobility and die a day later.

Biography: Mar's life had been adequately normal on Manta Carlos, as their school life was simple and peaceful. One day though, they were approached
by a man that asked if he could examine their hardware. Mar agreed, as they enjoyed the idea of someone commenting on the high tech equipment that made them up. He was fascinated by their body and mechanical. After looking, it seemed that the man had a different plan; he strapped Mar down and told them that they had a serum that would change Mar's oily blood and slowly turn it into real blood through many doses. It failed, as the anti-disease software kicked in and forced their motherboard to fry, causing their features and memories to crack and cease to exist. They forgot everything
except for their first three letters of their name. He apologized and ran away, leaving Mar to get out off the table by themselves. They got out after three days, craving intelligence. As they went back to their dorm, their attention focused on the heads of Mar's fellow students, for whatever reason. It was a hunger, to fill their head once again with knowledge that had made Mar's mind full again. They live a causal life of emotionless expressions and touching people's heads.

RUNNERS UP

Character being adapted: Angelo Genovese
Link to original character application: http://159.65.241.122/index.php?threads/angelo-genovese.8083/
Notes: A fairly standard zombie AU - Manta Carlos doesn’t exist, but powers do.

Name: Angelo Genovese
Age: Twenty-Four
Gender: Male
Species: Half-Reaper
Profession: Professional Zombie Hunter/Scout

Appearance Description: Unfortunately, life at the end of the world does not play well with having long hair. After far too many close calls, Angelo was forced to crop his mane of hair down to a manageable level. It was a loss for absolutely everyone involved, considering he lost about four feet of hair, but he’s at least managed to make it work. Amusingly, no one even bats an eye if he buries the majority of his face under a bandanna, since it’s the preferred method of making sure no one gets zombie blood in their mouth. It does a good job of hiding the worst of his scars.

As a fortunate side effect of being constantly surrounded by the dead, Angelo ended up what could be politely termed as ‘buff as hell’. He looks like he should be lifting the whole weight bench, and he can lift even more then that with a bit of effort. An unfortunate side effect, on the other hand, is that Angelo is perpetually covered in blood splatter. It just comes with the territory.

(Image by JeffersonTick of tumblr, used with permission.)

Personality Description: Life after the end is tough, but Angelo likes to think he hasn’t changed much. He supposes he’s become a bit more serious. He gets to be more honest and upfront then he ever was before. There’s no hiding away, no pretending to be something he’s not. Angelo is nothing if not up front, and even a quick glance at him will establish just what to expect. He’s extremely dedicated to his family and those that make up their little colony, and considers himself their main protective force. It’s a bit arrogant at times, but considering that he literally is the strongest person in the colony, it’s hard to fault him for it.

Powers: Angelo’s ability with weapons used to be good when he only used them occasionally, but when they fell into daily use they became excellent. While he’s certainly adept with a variety of guns and rifles, the noise made by them attracts zombies, so Angelo prefers to use melee weapons. In the immortal words of one author: Melee weapons don’t need reloading. Of course, the biggest downside of melee weapons is that they require a high amount of strength and stamina, but since Angelo has both in spades, it’s a non-issue. Angelo’s preferred weapon, obtained two years after the start of the apocalypse, is a large war hammer, which keeps him out of grabbing range but gives him all the smashing power he needs.

Species Abilities: Angelo’s primary power before the apocalypse was his ability to vanish from the eyes of those around him, disappearing where he stood. The unfortunate reality is that that particular power was rendered completely useless by the apocolypse. It was never very good against animals, and zombies lack any kind of higher thought that would let him use it. Really, the only time he ever gets to use it is when he’s trying to avoid other scavengers in the field.

On the other hand, his previously unused ability to help the dead pass on (used perhaps a dozen times over four years) has come into it’s full power. Angelo can help the dead pass on to whatever afterlife awaits them, and in doing so improves himself. For every soul he helps, he becomes stronger, faster, and more durable. Simply put, the power wasn’t really meant to work in a world with thousands of dead souls. As a result, Angelo has become a nearly unstoppable one man army. He’s fast, strong, and he shows no signs of lagging behind despite carrying a weapon that would exhaust most people. If he helps a few souls pass on while he’s out in town, he’ll even return showing no signs of having even been out at all.

Biography: The end of the world came slowly. There was no one night that ended it at all - just a slow cascade as countries began to descend into total collapse. It lasted long enough for people to panic properly before the virus even reached America, and it also gave people time to prepare.

Of course, no one expected just how bad it was going to be. The don packed the group up and moved them out to his vacation home in the country, planning to ride out the worst of it in safety. When New York fail in a horrid blaze of glory, it became that much more obvious that riding it out wouldn’t work. The world was over, and all they could do was try and pick up the pieces.

Three years on, the ‘family’ had expanded into a village, a cluster of houses having been build up around the manor and its outbuildings. The settlement had included several farms, beginning to grow their own supplies as food supplies began to dwindle. They’d built up walls and barricades, planting stakes to keep the occasional roaming zombie out. As far from the city as they were, zombies were few and far between, the subject more of stories then a constant threat.

Unless you went into town, which Angelo so often did. The settlement was far from self supplying, with plenty of supplies requiring scavenging from the outside. While his first few trips were nothing special, Angelo rapidly became one of the best in the settlement, due in large part to his powers. Even if no one was quite sure how it worked, they simply knew that it did. Angelo became faster, stronger, and more durable the more he went out, and soon he spending only a day or two in the settlement at a time before going out again.

It was useful, but it was also lonely. The trips were almost always solo affairs, meaning Angelo spent a great deal of his time alone in the wasteland.

Sometimes he found people, but most of the time he found nothing but bodies and signs that humans had once thrived.

Character being adapted: Mochi Fukawa
Link to original character application: http://159.65.241.122/index.php?threads/7181
Notes: It's pretty much the same but with hostile zombies. Zombies follow the rules of TWD in which that you become one if you die and don't have the brain destroyed and that getting bitten will also result in you becoming a zombie.

Name: Mochi Fukawa
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Zombified Futakuchi-onna
Profession: Student

Appearance Description: The zombification has had an adverse effect on Mochi's appearance. Her normally light-colored skin has become tinted green. Her brown eyes are glossier than a normal human's. She was bitten on the neck. The neck has been wrapped in lots of bandages that cover the whole neck. Her teeth are intact but have an icky stained yellow look. She carries the scent of death with her. Her hair's a complete mess. It's thick and dark brown. It looks like it hasn't seen a brush in months. It doesn't look like she's even shampooed it due to the blood and dirt stains stuck within the strands. Closer examination reveals flesh bits tangled within the untamed locks. Her body frame is skinnier now, but her shape can still be made out. She has small breasts, an unhealthily thin waist, and large hips with a nice butt attached to them. However, the lack of fat on her waist and limbs can detract from what was once a beautiful, healthy 5'6" girl.

Her clothes have become oriented towards what she can find. In general, she really only wears one outfit. It's a sleeveless turtleneck top, an over-sized quarter-zip jacket with a mockneck, pitch black leggings, and a pair of sneakers on the brink of becoming shambles. Her unruly hair is always contained inside a hat. The hat doesn't necessarily match with the outfit; it always changes because Jouka eventually rips through them. She also doesn't let her preferences interfere with her choice of hat. She needs to just use whatever she could find regardless of color coordination or pattern clashing. This is the attitude she's forced herself to take with all clothes in order to survive. She doesn't wear jewelry or accessories anymore. The poor girl has lost all of them along the way.

Personality Description: Momo has always been such a sweet, kind soul. Her inclination is to help others and make their lives easier. However, thanks to the zombie apocalypse, she has been forced to pick her survival over others' safety, and it has taken a toll on her. She's more of a recluse loner and keeps to herself as she travels from place to place. She suffers from crippling shyness and mistrust. The last thing she wants is to have someone try to kill her again. She's become used to survivor groups rejecting her for being infected. No one wants to waste supplies on someone who will eventually die. Her athleticism has allowed her to learn a few Parkour tricks so that she can navigate the area easier. Despite everyone signing her death warrant, she has not lost hope yet in finding a cure. It's what keeps her going everyday. All she wants is to be healed back to normal and continue life as a regular student. If only it were easy....

Unfortunately Jouka has not survived the infection. For those unaware of what a futakuchi-onna is, the second mouth on the back of her head is named Jouka. He has sharp teeth that he's been using to devour poor humans. He's lost most of his personality and has become a mindless beast. All he thinks about is food. He goes berserk frequently and attempts to eat whatever meat he can find. This has forced Mochi to have to appease him and also bind him under hats so that he won't cause trouble for others. However, the hungrier she gets, the more vicious he becomes. It's a real shame. He used to be a snarky, deep voiced guide for the young woman. Brash but caring, he made for a great companion and protector until the virus eventually consumed him. Every now and then, his old personality peaks out and he resists his primal urges. However, it's usually only for a few seconds or a few minutes at most before he goes berserk again.

Powers: Mochi's main power is hair manipulation. She can manipulate her hair to lift objects and people as she pleases. Each of her strands act as extra appendages and give off the impression of hairy tentacles. Being magical in nature, her hair is granted the strength to lift the average size person. With some struggle, she can lift a seven foot tall human but doesn't have the power to lift cars or golems. Momo and Jouka can both utilize this power.

...Well, at least that used to be the case.

Now that Jouka has succumbed to the virus, she can no longer control her hair. It acts based on Jouka's will and leaves the poor girl without a reliable power to lean on. This is why she has taken the previously mentioned measures to make sure her hair is hidden behind a cap. Without a hat, Jouka could at any time attempt to grab and eat a survivor. Despite not being directly responsible for this, she has felt great guilt over the amount of lives Jouka's ended with this power.

Species Abilities: Hair from a futakuchi-onna is fortified to not be cut or damaged by mere scissors or knives. It takes weapons or items of a magical nature in order to cut the hair. So while a regular knife may do nothing, a knife infused with lightning magic certainly can slice through the hair. It in particular suffers a weakness to fire magic. A fireball could destroy her hair.

Biography: Mochi was born to two Japanese people from different backgrounds. Her mother was from a family of average income with a deep connection to youkai. Her father was the son of a CEO, and the family in general was incredibly rich. Her mother chose the path of a ballerina while her father chose the path of acting and modelling. They met each other at one of her mom's performances and fell in love. However, the mother was sharp enough to notice that after they were engaged that she was with a narcissistic man whom may have found her beautiful, but he valued himself over anyone else. The woman could not bring herself to stop loving him despite this major flaw; additionally, his riches allowed her own family to thrive. So she married him and later birthed Mochi.

Mochi became a childhood sweetheart that won audiences over with her acting performances in various television shows. She did act in some stuff with her father, but he often ignored her in favor of himself. This always made her sad, but she did not get too upset for her mother was much warmer. Her mom spent lots of time with her even with her ballet performances and charity events getting in the way. She had a network of loving people to make up for her neglectful father. She was living the good life and enjoying the wealth and adoration of many people. Even so, her mom taught her to be humble and sweet, so she never became a spoiled brat.

However, this all changed when the paparazzi accidentally killed her mom. The mother rode in a fancy limousine to attend her husband's movie screening. The paparazzi were insistent on getting pictures and words with the busy lady, and one of the cars slammed into the back of the limo. The sudden impact shocked the driver and caused him to spiral out of control within tight traffic. The mother suffered grave injuries from the accident and eventually died from her wounds in the hospital. Her husband did visit her and talked to his wife one last time before she passed away. Her last words were for him to take care of Mochi and make sure the girl was safe and well-fed. It was odd to him how insistent she was about the well-fed part, but he agreed and she later died.

The death devastated both the father and daughter and caused problems from then on. The father became fearful of death and began indulging all of his money into various medicines and beauty products to ensure that he never aged. In his rampant indulgence, he neglected his then-ten year old little girl. As she got older, she began to look more like her deceased mother. This caused him to dive further into insanity as he tried to make Mochi the splitting image of her mom. He put her through strict diets and made her take ballet. He made sure that she was always exercising and even began to fret over the way she sat. This gave Momo loads of stress and also made her hungry for days on end.

That was when the zombie apocalypse happened. Now suddenly they lost connection with a lot of her friends and family as the zombie epidemic spread throughout the pre-dominantly human countries. There was worldwide panic as people did their best to survive in this terrible world. The father and daughter were forced to ration out their supplies as they holed themselves up within their home. Neither of them were fighters. Mochi's dad tried his best to still keep his daughter in perfect shape (Or rather the shape he wanted her to be in) despite her being unable to go out. However, he was not mindful of how much food her body actually needed plus suffered greed due to his narcissism. Mochi would become skinnier as time passed on. She could feel herself dying of starvation, and it was dreadful. Yet due to her love of her father, she refused to steal rations to feed herself. Her kindness became her hubris.

Several near-break-ins by zombies caused her dad to go completely crazy and kill himself. He did this by overdosing on some painkillers they had in stock. Meanwhile Momo was trying to rest but had an awful headache that she had been suffering for several days. It felt like her skull was ready to split in half. The pain was excruciating. The girl forced herself to get up and stumble around the house in search of her father. She needed pain medication in order to alleviate this terrible migraine. She found him in the kitchen, but she noticed that he was slumped in a chair for some reason. The girl didn't realize that he was dead yet. She ran over to him and gently touched his shoulder. She wanted to wake him up so that he could open the supply cabinet for her.

That was when she finally noticed the empty painkiller bottle sitting on the table next to a half-empty bottle of water.

Her father suddenly lunged at her and pinned her to the floor. He had turned into a zombie. The poor daughter was shocked out of her wits as he growled and groaned in her face. She became paralyzed with fear. What could she do? What should she do? He then proceeded to bite her neck and sunk his teeth deep into her flesh. She screamed at the top of her lungs. As this happened, the migraine worsen. Now the pain was unbearable, but what was the point of worrying? She was about to die by her father's hand. Suddenly what looked like tendrils grabbed the attacking corpse and ripped him off of the girl. They then proceeded to toss him across the room. This confused and delighted Mochi at the same time. What could this be?

"Momo! Stand up! GET UP NOW!"

A deep, manly voice called out to her....from the back of her skull? She could feel the vibration and mouth-like motion. As she obeyed the voice without question, she then realized where the tendrils were coming from.

She was saved by her own hair.

The second mouth she would later name Jouka killed her undead father in a fight. What ended the battle was Jouka finding a 2 by 4 and beating the man's head in with it. Mochi had to watch her father die before her eyes, but it was for a good cause: her survival. However, now she had a zombie bite to worry about. She treated the wound and wrapped her neck in bandages. Jouka acted as her guide and protector as he helped her pack her things so that she could go out on an adventure. Their goal was to find the cure to the zombie virus so that Momo would be healed. She learned Parkour and scavenging as she traveled far and wide in search of help. She attempted to group up with others, but things would always fall apart when they found out she was infected. They would either attempt to kill her or simply force her out of the group. This left her on her own, but that was okay. She had Jouka by her side after all.

That was until the virus became so bad that it led to Jouka becoming a vicious, out of control hair zombie. He became a ravenous beast that would eat any kind of meat, be it a squirrel or a human being. The woman was forced to try to find ways of binding him and keeping him tamed so that he would stop killing survivors that held the misfortune of being near her. It broke her heart, but what could she do? Without the second mouth to talk to her, she began to lose hope. She felt weighed down by her mission and could see herself slowly dying. She became desperate for a sign, any sign that there was hope out there for a cure.

Her prayers were answered. While Mochi was scavenging, she found a damaged flyer to a place called Starlight Academy. It was located on Manta Carlos Island, a place that she never heard of. It mentioned something about powers and special individuals. She almost tossed it when she realized that this island could be her answer to survival. After all, the radio never mentioned an island known as Manta Carlos falling to the zombie menace. Additionally she had the silly but perhaps possible notion that powers meant that she could maybe find a cure to the virus. After all, healing powers were a thing, right? Maybe she could use some kind of unorthodox means. Besides that, she already explored North America, and she doubted that Japan would help much. She stowed away on a boat heading to the island and hid in the storage area in fear of the crew kicking her off for being infected.

She survived the boat trip and stepped onto the island in hopes of ending this miserable tale with a happy ending.

Notes: This AU does not take place on the Manta Carlos islands. Zombie apocalypse AU.

Name: Puriel
Current Common Name: Tybalt Capulétte
Age: Looks to be in his mid-twenties
Gender: Male
Species: Redeemed Seraphim
Profession: Angel of Judgement

Appearance Description:
Puriel is, by and large, not a very intimidating looking man. He isn’t exactly tall, standing at a rather average 5’10” (117.8cm), and is built rather lightly without much extra muscle to speak of. His frame is lithe and downright graceful looking int he purest sense of the word; slight shoulders, small waist, long and thin legs. He almost seems to float wherever he stands, and for good reason. His feet rarely, if ever, touch the ground. Puriel's hair is blond, falling into a rather choppy and rarely maintained cut with his bangs always covering his right eye. His eyes are a bright blue, but he has slight partial heterochromia in his right, which is the entire reason why he keeps it covered. He just thinks it looks odd, though he’d show it off if someone asked.

He’d be a little hard pressed to smile, and even then they somehow end up looking sarcastic even if they’re genuine. In fact, his expression is often stoic and severe, looking down upon everyone with a judgmental eye. It only softens a little when he comes across a pure soul, and that is a rarity in on itself. He’s got a bit of scruff growing, though he makes sure to shave so it doesn’t grow too wild. It wouldn’t be any good for his public image if he didn’t, after all. Despite his grumpy looks, the one feature people always seem to ask him about no matter what, and what birthed his nickname, are his eyebrows. They have a very, very distinct curl to them, looping upwards.

Rarely does one see his body. He is clothed in his six pure white wings; they wrap protectively around him as if it were some sort of feathered armor, impenetrable by mortal means. Sometimes you can catch a whisper of delicate, silken cloth fluttering from underneath the feathers, maybe a glint of metal, hinting at the fact that he might not be completely naked. Even his feet are covered by his wings and by all intents and purposes, his body is completely obscured. The wings themselves may look soft, but the feathers are as stiff and sharp as blades. When he's threatened, they move to defend him and he could easily use them as shields or swords.

He gives off a halo of light, a faint glow that surrounds him no matter how dark it may be, and it glows more intensely as he sorts the souls of all the dead.

Personality Description:

Puriel is far from the image many people would conjure when they think of an angel. He doesn't have a chime-like voice, nor is he gentle and merciful.

Instead, there's a reason why he was cast down from heaven many years ago and desperation from the heavens was the only way he found himself redeemed so quickly. He's fiery and pitiless, wrath and apathy having been his sins when he was first kicked out of heaven. He may have softened a little over his years on earth, but not by very much.

Puriel becomes angry easily and is especially standoffish towards souls that are tarnished in any way. His job is to judge, not to lead them on the right path, and so he will cast them down to hell without a second thought. He'd grown deaf to their pleas long ago. Seeing how humans have fallen has made him bitter and resentful. He isn’t inherently mean, but his short temper and a sway towards being a little more knee jerk in his reactions makes him come off as more vicious than he actually is. Gentle is rarely his first reaction to something, and he’d tackle a man with a knife to the ground before he sees the cake, so to speak

On the other hand, those of pure souls will bring out how gentle he could be. He becomes kind and soft around those with white souls and will gladly take their hand and lead them to heaven. He'd seen enough of how humans can do ugly, terrible things and coming across a soul untarnished by any of that is refreshing for him.

As for the current plight of humans, he is apathetic. He will often repeat that his role is not to lead them onto the right path or bring them salvation, but to judge their souls when they die and give them their just reward.

Powers:

Puriel is a redeemed seraphim. He had once fallen because God found him guilty of the sin of wrath, and so cast him down to earth so he may redeem himself. When the zombie virus spread and humans were dying in droves, he was redeemed to sort through the souls.

Wings: Puriel has six wings that are borderline blindingly white, and they look like they're made of the softest material. In reality they work as his sword and shield, hard and razor sharp around the edges. He often encases himself in them, floating just above the ground and obscuring his whole body. No mortal weapon can penetrate the outer feathers and one would be hard pressed to find a blade that's sharper. Underneath the wings and on his back, if a person can even get that close, you can see scars littering his otherwise perfect skin. They're a constant reminder of what he'd done in the past, even though all of his wings are intact now. The underside of his wings facing his body are actually quite soft, pillow-like and very much like angel wings that an average person would imagine.

Judgement: In line with his past position as an angel of judgement, Puriel has the ability to see how ‘good’ or ‘bad’ a person’s soul is. The soul appears to him like a glow between a person’s collarbones; the dimmer the light is, the worse the soul. If he touches this light, he'll see brief glimpses of the crimes (or lack thereof) that they've committed. He can't influence these in any way, instead being an observer and using it as a tool to figure out whether the person deserves to go to heaven or hell.

Biography:

Pre-Apocalypse:

As time stretched on, decades started representing smaller and smaller portions of his life.

Puriel has no biological parents, no childhood and no other purpose. He was just brought into being and given his job: to weigh the souls of those ascending to heaven. Puriel could have been described very well as fiery and pitiless in what he did. His job wasn’t to show compassion, or lead people onto the right path. He was no modern day angel with a halo and a chime-like voice.

And he did very well. As humanity chugged along, the souls continued to flutter up to heaven where they were weighed by him, then allowed into heaven, cast down to hell or made to suffer waiting in limbo.

But perhaps over time he became a little too fiery. He grew exhausted of seeing the same crimes over and over again, the distinct lack of kindness as souls floated up to him in droves during times of war and strife. His judgements became harsher, turning everything black and white. He had little patience for the same sins over and over, though he was extra kind to the souls who proved themselves to be good.

So Puriel was guilty of the sin of wrath. As such, he was cast down from heaven onto the mortal plane, where he was given the chance to redeem himself or be forever stranded. His wings, once his shields, armour and mode of transportation, were badly injured on the way down. He keeps them tucked away just under his skin out of shame.

When he landed, he took on a royal name and mannerisms, blending in with humans. Is ultimate goal remains to redeem himself and ascend back to heaven, though he knows he must be patient.

Post-Apocalypse:

It looked like the dead were overflowing and heaven couldn't stem the flow of souls.

When the virus hit, people who had long been dead reanimated. Then they infected the living, and their souls fled their rotted bodies and left only shells. At first Puriel survived it by being resourceful, avoiding the most heavy-hit areas and keeping to himself. He didn't stay with any colonies, knowing that if the virus infected one of them, they'd all be doomed.

But as weeks dragged into months and the dead piled up, there was a call back to heaven. Dokiel, his former angelic partner, retrieved him from the mortal plane and brought him before God where, in an act of desperation, he was redeemed to 'clean up the mess', in a sense. His wings, once ragged and torn, were brought back to their former glory. He was tasked with remaining on earth, immune to the virus and the filth, to sort souls and guide them to wherever they needed to go.

And when he came back to earth, he did the job that he'd always been meant to do. He began to pluck them one by one, doing his job just as mercilessly as he'd done in the past. There were humans that came to him, begging for this to end, but that wasn't his purpose.

Many who saw him would describe him as a featureless pillar of light glowing on the horizon. There would be no doubt that he was an angel to those who saw him up close. Rarely did he go into the small colonies or villages that built up around the aftermath unless there was a lot of souls he needed to sort through.

Shayentine Rosales, survivor of the alpacalypse
Character being adapted: Eroshay Nikiah
Link to original character application: Here
Notes: Zompaca!Shay, alpacalypse, zompacas

Name: Shayentine Rosales
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Species: Zompaca
Profession: Brain eater/Student/Alpaca

Appearance Description:
Alpaca/Zompaca
Grey fur
Red eyes

Personality Description:
Sassy zompaca girl
Prone to trying to eat people
Refuses to walk among the horde. She is an individual!
Not a big talker/groaner/wtf ever sounds alpacas make

Powers:
Undead Teenage Angst: Now, teenage angst may not seem powerful at first glance, but let me tell you. With this amount of sass, pout, and tantrum, you can get almost anything you want from the adults in your life. A bowl of brains? Heck yeah! A few knives? Take 'em. This ability isn't effective on very stern/willful parents. (Lookin' at you, Vito). It's super effective against those who can't resist the puppy dog eyes. (Klaus...)

Species Abilities:
Infectious Bite: When biting someone and transferring saliva or blood, the person will become infected with the zompaca virus.

Communal Groan: Shay is capable of groaning to alert other nearby zompacas. Unfortunately, there is only one groan and it only makes the zompacas look and move vaguely in the direction of the sound. This isn't really it's own language or anything. The groan can't be heard from far away, it's as loud as any regular groaning.

Weaknesses:
Slow: As a member of the undead horde, Shay is slow to move and react, No more running for her! Nope! And when I say slow, I don't mean slow for a person, I mean straight-up takes forever. She's a shambler.

Undead: Shay is undead, which mean she doesn't age anymore, however, she also decays. Her decaying is slower than that of a regular body, but it is happening. She'll probably have a shorter lifespan than if she were a human. How sad. She also doesn't heal, like, at all. Her body is dead, man. If she wants a cut to close it has to be sewn up.

Biography:
The alpacalypse (you heard that correctly) began as they always do. A group of mad scientist alpacas released a virus into the water as a form of chemical warfare. They were furious that, despite being intelligent, grumbling alpacas, they were not allowed to apply to Starlight Academy.

Manta Carlos simply wouldn't accept alpacas into their program (though llamas were allowed. It's an arbitrary rule.) The alpacas refused to register as llamas.

Unlike the regular, newbish "zombie" virus. This infection turned people into undead alpacas, or zompacas, as they were aptly named. It's not like the alpaca punch made sure that was the name given to them. Not at all.

Only Manta Carlos was targeted initially. However, the alpacas (who called themselves alpaca punch, in case you didn't get that...) decided, eh, why not destroy the rest of the world? It would just be weird not to, right?

And thus began the alpacalypse, in which Shay was one of the "normies" who was infected by the virus. What the alpaca punch didn't account for was that Manta Carlos was mother quackin' Manta Carlos and full of creatures who couldn't be infected.

Inevitably Manta Carlos found a way around this. They were unable to revert the zompacas into their normal forms, but they did train the zompacas not to try and eat everyone's brains all the time (who would have thought squirting them with water would work?).

The zompacas now live a semi-average life on Manta Carlos. But Starlight Academy still refuses to teach them. What a bunch of jerks.

Character being adapted: Su Matin
Link to original character application: Here you go~
Notes: Zombie AU where becoming a zombie is just a natural part of human life, kind of like getting your hair done, in a period where Zombism is a legit social and intellectual movement dedicated to transcending that pesky thing called death in order give people more opportunities to better the world and also secure equal rights for those were unfortunate enough to die before they were ready to and must survive on in an awkward unlife until they decide maybe they should just get cured or die already. Cures do exist. Taking a cure after becoming turned is like taking drugs. Nobody will really call you out for it but they’ll give you weird looks and secretly judge you. Most supernatural creatures are just zombies to start with. It’s their natural state.

Name: Su Matin
Age: 22
Gender: Male, kind of
Species: Zombie butterfly oyster pretending to be a zombie dragon
Profession: Student

Appearance Description:
Five feet and three inches tall
Dulled, ebony-colored hair
Long hair in ponytail
No eyes, just little pearly looking rocks
Beautiful slate-colored skin
Constantly enveloped in the sweet scent of rotting sushi
Feminine but not too much because with that shriveled skin, you can totally see male bone structure
Totally hot
Everybody would sleep with, 11/10

Personality Description:
He’s perfect at everything
Super rich
His IQ is greater than the number of maggots in your body
Sluggishly slow
Clumsy as heck and covered in nonhealing cuts
Pampered and views unlife has boring
Would probably take Cure drugs and hate it
Confident as heck
Loner who just wants to be a lonely zombie
And eat some brains
Deer brains
Maybe

Powers:
He has a magic knife that can do things. He can summon it within twenty feet and the flat of the blade can deflect attacks. Too bad he’s a zombie and reflexes don’t exist. He can also use it to cut magic. And Zombism. He’s such a monster. He also has a sword he can stand on and fly around with. It’s pretty cool whenever he has to go to Zomb Kong from Manta Zombielos. In theory.

Species Abilities:
His real form is actually an empty vaguely human-shaped oyster shell with the interior meat having been dried and salted, smelling both gross and delicious. He has a pearl that he needs to see in his real form as well as allow him to turn into a human zombie. He is super weak against nets and will be dazed by them but any knife will flat out kill him in his real form. Luckily, he is a zombie so this just means instead of being killed, he gets cured. And then can get killed for real. He has dried butterfly wings that he can fly with. They are kind of broken but that’s okay because this is magic and zombies. He can talk to all zombie animals but live ones are weird and gross. He also sometimes produces mildew. Since he’s a zombie, he has the fantastic ability to breathe in space. Since he’s an zombie oyster, he has the ability to smell bad all the time.

Biography: A zombie butterfly and a zombie oyster fell in love but the zombie seahorse god was angered by this and tricked the zombie butterfly into flying into the sun, telling it that the sun would cure its zombieness (the freak, who would want to be cured?). The butterfly died, as it should have. The oyster was super upset and spontaneously combusted out of despair and not eating small, filterable dirt brains. The zombie dog, friend of the zombie butterfly and zombie oyster called the zombie seahorse god out and the god eventually figured out that he was being a dick. He then resurrected the zombie butterfly and zombie oyster and turned them as well as the zombie dog into zombie humans and then promptly exited pursued by a bear.

Matin was born into this family descended from the two zombie lovers, which means that he was basically conceived when his parents squished a bunch of dead stuff together and the dead stuff decided it would cooperate enough to make an undead child. Thus Matin was born and all because he’s a supernatural creature and how else are they supposed to reproduce?

He basically BSed his way through life as his parents were horribly murdered, his older brother turned out to be Ebil, and all the undead elders turned out to secretly be in league with Livingists. But then they killed each other for real, conveniently solving a really messy situation for him. Then he became family head. Oh and he got a dog. But then he got bored and came to Manta Zombielos and idk man.
