A sigh escaped her chest as her partner spoke words of reassurance to her, though it wasn't out of former relinquishment. She was relieved now, relieved that she had a chance to start over with the relationships she had. She couldn't muster up the words yet. there were those three words she found herself hesitant in admitting, but slowly they were soon to collide.
And all of this seemed crazy still. Well beyond her expertise in immortality and possessing a sort of detached feeling towards bloodlust, it seemed that their togetherness was highly up for debate. But she didn't want to. All of these things were pushed aside in favor for the traits she had been asking most for in another. He hadn't told her a lie from what she's witnessed and had been one of the most self-assured people she knew. This was all why she believed him when he broke himself down like that, admitting her things she hadn't heard in ages. How he wanted something genuine, just like her. And staring up at him, as he was looking down at her, she could see the effects of their encounter on his features. He hadn't smiled quite like he was now before.
He did confuse her a bit though when he said that he couldn't show her. Did he then mean he didn't know how? Or was there nothing to show? Before the anxiety of that could kick in he went to reassuring that he did want to be with her, and her lifespan would lead to them being together. It was all so surreal to think that marking today she would not age. She was going to appear 21 forever, and be at this eternally youthful state. It was... Daunting, a bit. But Carl knew what it was like... At least she didn't have to watch any loved ones die as she never looked a day past this one.
But here and now she didn't have to worry about anything. Nothing but caressing him, nodding a bit to his words. It seemed crazy, and yet... She could believe it. At least for tonight, where everything was perfect. Technicalities were disposed of as she opted to drape her arms around his shoulders as he neared. Though it was a comment kept to herself, he was admittedly cute when he acted this way. Just like the young adult that he wanted to portray himself as- open, willing for the impossible, and generally hopeful for what was to come. It captivated her mind while he overtook her body. And as he joined her... Well, she fell deeper into this dreamlike state.
Her arms released as she kiss him, her body easing up. She'd let it happen, that feeling of bliss associated with him claiming her as his. Both physically and emotionally. Loralei reached back up only to stroke the side of his face again. It was that point though that he asked her if she was alright. And she responded.
"Mhmmm..." It was at first, her mind only halfway there as she let everything else overtake her. It took a few seconds later to truly process this question, to which Lori looked back at him with a soft expression clear on her features. "Of course, I... Why?" She leaned up to cup the sides of his head, gently easing it down so she could kiss him from where she lay. She then looked down, a bit uncertain. She chuckled a bit, though a hint of nervousness was in her voice. "I mean... It's kinda hard at least now to envision myself living so far ahead of a normal lifespan. I can't even be certain of tomorrow, let alone till the rest of eternity." It was then her voice lowered until it was barely a decibel above a airy whisper. "And... And what if neither of us see it that long? It's not guaranteed that we'll see the end of whatever's out there together. My life... My life is dictated by that teapot I gave you. If it's smashed... Well, I'm gone forever." It was a terrifying thought. And as she would breathe against what he was doing, her mind already scattered from being on cloud nine, she struggled to keep herself under wraps in terms of worrying herself too much with him. Her hands gripped around the sheets of the bed, her eyes shutting halfway. "I don't know if you can die. Or if you're as vulnerable as I am. I'm just new to this whole immortality thing, but..." If was then she regained herself a bit, putting on a smile as she knew that the only thing she could do was to live in the now. "I... I can't trouble with that now, right? Right now we have each other... Living in the moment. We'll live forever if fate deals us a good hand. But now I just want to hold you, without worrying about tomorrows. Carl, I..." Her voice trailed off, her eyes gazing up at him. Studying his face, the features of the guy she so wanted to call her own. But.. Would she say those words? Looking down she knew she couldn't, not without fear at least. But fear was just something that needed to be faced. A darkness quenched by light, and something that needed to be vanquished head-on. Besides, everything else was so seemingly insane. It was only one phrase...
"I love you."
