Noel had the kind of sureness in his voice that Fehr didn't start talking back. She could recognize life experience when she saw it, and he was an older colleague. In military fashion Fehr questioned but didn't argue, merely nodded and smiled slightly.
"I suppose I'll take your word for it. Thank you."
And Noel for sure was an interesting individual.

Battle. Yes, Fehr took this as one form of battle, Noel wasn't far off the mark at all. Fehr looked down at her folder and then back at Noel, slight smile on her face.
"That is one way to put it. From what warnings I have heard the young generation in this dimension can be...rebellious."
In Fehr's dimension teenagers were either scared, or already toughened by war and grown up, she was excited to see how this dimension treated it's future's hopes.

Noel almost made a jolly ho-ho type sound, the coming month of December always made him more open and jolly friendly, at Ferhalyn's comment about student's being somewhat rebellious in nature on the island.

"Students here are quite open with their own ideas and many aren't afraid to voice those opinions, not sure if you'd call that rebellious or not," Noel told Ferh. "And you shouldn't have any of them using their magic or abilities on you," he added seriously, wanting to reassure her that he had rarely experienced that before.

Fehr looked genuinely surprised for a moment, as Noel explained the nature of teenagers in this dimension, or at least this island. They were open with their ideas, against authority figures? And without the authority figure allowing it? That was...very different from where Fehr was from. But she thought it was a positive change, very positive. Fehr had always thought that the true route to progressiveness was open mind and creativity.
As for the students using their abilities on Fehr, she had many ways to work against that.
"Constructive opinions and debate are what open doors to development, I am not against them. History, after all, the further you go is riddled with holes. Despite the existence of immortals. And creating different theories is an important part of studying history. And regarding power usage, I have my ways of controlling such things."
Fehr smiled a bit, it was a mysterious smile. Let's just say the students were very wrong if they only saw a pregnant woman in Fehr.

Noel nodded in complete agreement and smiled, glad that Fehr was seemingly so open to the exchange of ideas and opinions. It was, to him at least, the sign of a very good, if not great, history teacher.

"I teach Ancient Mythology, which is essentially about the stories that surround us immortals created by mortals and why these stories came into existence," he explained, "So, being open to discussion and debate is a must," he told her with a grin. "I have heard some pretty crazy ideas and theories in my time."

"Oh? And what tricks do you have up your sleeve to keep our little darlings in line?" he asked with a little chuckle, very sure though that she could handle herself.

Fehralyn was very much fascinated by the subject Noel taught, and wanted to launch into a detailed and lengthy conversation about different theories, techniques of study, correlation of sociology and theology in ancient cultures and such. But she didn't have time for that, when Fehr got excited about a topic she could go on for hours. So she held herself back.
"I'd be interested in discussing those theories and ideas of yours another day, if you could humour me."
Fehr said with a slight shrug of her shoulders, she could imagine a debate with Noel could be very educational.

"Let us just say those, hm, 'little darlings' won't even have time to try anything."
Fehr naturally wasn't going to harm anyone, but she could with her abilities be aware of all her students and their individual species and abilities at once, and form a tactic against all of them in her head.

"Of course, I'd be delighted. It's not too often you find someone interested in the intricacies of history and its effect on present-day society," Noel said, "I'd be very interested in hearing your perspective on things," he added, thinking that he'd love to speak with Ferhalyn about his subject as well as inquire about hers too. He loved having an intelligent discussion and exchange of ideas.

"You sound formidable," Noel chuckled approvingly, guessing that she had a trick or two up her sleeve, and possibly wanted to keep it to herself, something which he totally respected.

"And I think you will fit in quite nicely," he added with a smile. "Have you met any of the other teachers yet?" he inquired questioningly.

That Fehr indeed was, formidable. She had not been a soldier for over 100 years for nothing. Although most of the things she had learned couldn't be utilized in normal life, not without...casualties.

"I certainly hope so."
Fehr answered with a small smile.
It made Fehr feel less nervous, to hear Noel say she'd fit in nicely. Fehr was still feeling separate from all of this, from normal life and other people. Sometimes she felt like Leo was the only one in the world with Fehr, and he wasn't even in the world yet. Fehr was good at enduring loneliness but sometimes she didn't want to.
"I have not met my other colleagues, beyond occasional hello and introduction. Although I am familiar with most of their names, grades and subjects."

When Fehralyn told Noel she hadn't really conversed with other teachers, he felt the odd need or sense of duty to want to help her out with that. He guessed it was, probably, due to his need to make others happy, but also he felt sensed something kindly, even grandfatherly towards her. Maybe it was the sense of something melancholic about her, Noel wasn't sure.

"If you'd like I can introduce you to a few other teachers?" Noel offered very kindly.

Fehralyn looked at Noel with slight surprise and hesitation, should she take his offer? Fehr did not like depending on others, it made her uncomfortable and feel weak. But it would also be rude to refuse, after Noel offered to be so kind to her.
Fehr ran into this conflict a lot these days, between being rude or being independent. Perhaps it was the pregnancy, people tended to coddle pregnant females.

"That would be kind of you, thank you. But..."
Fehralyn checked the time from the clock hanging on the wall.
"We must do that, and our conversation, at a later date. At the moment there is barely an hour until my class and I must do some preparations. I want to leave a, hm, powerful first impression."

"Of course," Noel said as he stood up properly and smiled kindly at Ferhayn. He knew when he was being politely dismissed, and he completely understood her need to want to get a jump on her lesson.

"Good luck, Ferhalyn, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to stop by my office," Noel smiled , wishing her well before he quietly turned around and left the classroom.
