Rory had gotten a hit on her challenges wanted paper in the community center. It was a good thing, really. The better thing was the challenge her and this Gulliver were going to be doing. Makeup artistry. She hadn't discussed the rules and guidelines with him yet, but she'd told him to meet her in one of the art rooms at the school.

She'd gotten some of the theater students down there, too, each needed to prepare for a dress rehearsal. That was more for her regalia, Quiet Observer.

Quiet Observer wanted to help people and this felt like the best way to do that. Rory had already helped Janelle plan for her upcoming stint in the student council and Rory had stopped to clean up the park a little before getting here (that gave her a slight pang in her heart, but she'd not thought about it).

Now that he thought about it, this was his first time entering the academy. Strange the way things worked out. Gulliver had managed to avoid grabbing people's attention by copying the appearance of a college aged student he had seen earlier, albeit a female one. “I want to play with cute girls, not be one damnit” He thought to himself, catching a glimpse of himself in a window and doing a quick pose, watching the reflection intently. Cute, but nothing to write home about. As best as he was doing to hide himself, his new friend didn’t seem quite so keen on it.

Gulliver watched as the mirror headed individual danced around the hallways, practically sparkling as he passed out roses to every female he passed in the halls. “Damnit Bellamy quit messing around. We’re here for a reason” Gulliver said somewhat annoyed, his voice mimicking the dainty voice of the face he was borrowing. Truth be told he was already quite fond of the regalia, he just wished he hadn’t made his work getting this disguise go to waste.

“I can’t help wanting to share my visage to the world. It would be a shame not to display such picturesque features” Bellamy said, Gulliver only barely managing to stop himself from laughing. The regalia sped up, catching up to his partner and putting the last rose in his hair, “A pity that you’re only a wolf in sheep's clothing, you’d probably be much more interesting if you really did look like that.” He teased, earning a hard poke in the side, the regalia letting out a surprised yelp.

“We’re here, hope you’re excited.” Gulliver said, him and Bellamy gasping simultaneously at the sight of who could only be the one Gulliver was to face off against. A real beauty if he had to say so, his fingers going to his chin as if admiring a piece of fine art.

“Greetings! I assume you are Miss Rory. Allow me to introduce myself,” He said, closing the door behind him as his form shifted to his true appearance, taking off his incredibly tall hat and putting it to his chest, both as a pleasantry and due to his height, the hat wouldn’t be able to stay atop his head in a room like this, “Gulliver. The pleasure is all mine, truly” he said, looking at the girl and the other’s who were assembled in the location, test dummies he assumed. He had borrowed the makeup skills of the girl he had used as a disguise, but even with this he just knew 50% of what a Plain Jane could do, but he figured he could work it out as he went.

When Rory first saw Gulliver, her eyes widened and she had to steel herself. Firstly, he was tall. Very, very tall. More importantly, he was... well was he human at all? She couldn't actually tell. His face wasn't. Or was that actually his face? Was it a mask? Who knew! She'd play along, even if it would take a little getting used to.

"Yup, that's me. Rory Phillips. It's nice to meet you, Gulliver," Rory said, getting the distinct impression she should have been curtsying, or something. Anything to match his fanciness. But Rory had never been fancy, or one for pussyfooting.

She turned to their two volunteers, each sitting at a table fitted with a large mirror and various forms of makeup. Quiet Observer resides in a plant decoration off to the side, doing as his name suggested.

"Okay! These two have a big dress rehearsal coming up in a few hours and they requested we help them with their stage makeup. It's nothing too crazy. They'll need their faces whitened and their makeup exaggerated so they won't black out up on stage."

She pointed to Gulliver's student. "They're starring in A Midsummer Night's Dream and he needs to look like Demetrius, while I'll be making her," and now Rory pointed to her student, "up to be Hermia."

And in case he didn't recall the makeup used in these plays, Rory had already put pictures up on each of their mirrors. She motioned to them.

"Sound good?"

Gulliver silently nodded as he followed along with the girls explanation, vaguely understanding her words, although he himself had never learned any of it. It was already clear that he was at a disadvantage right off the bat, even with the bonus skill he had taken. It was too late to back out now.

“Fine by me.” He said cracking his knuckles. He had a good deal of experience with theatre, watching, not acting or assisting, but it seemed simple enough, match the picture as best he could, that was all it took right? Gulliver kneeled down in front of the boy, even then his knee was almost at his shoulder height.

He looked over the tools he had to work with, not quite recognising what each one was, but he hand an idea how to use them at least. Grabbing one, he let his hands do the work not thinking too much about what he was doing. The skills he had taken would do their thing, he lacked the knowledge to guide his hands, but they knew what to do. He sighed, catching a peek of Bellamy staring at himself in the reflection of the mirror he was using. Why did a mirror need to look in a mirror anyways?

Rory grinned at the two of them. She stepped in front of her student and got right down to putting a base of white makeup all over her face. Rory used bright colors.

By the end of it, Rory's contestant was white-faced, red-lipped, and had so much eyeshadow and highlights along her face that she looked like some terrifying clown knock-off.

Rory stepped back and showed the girl her own reflection. She turned her face this way and that before speaking.

"A little more white on the nose I think. I don't want my face to wash out."

And Rory, though she wasn't sure she agreed, did as she was told. Vanessa knew better than Rory did. Vanessa had been in drama and theater much longer than Rory.

Afterward, Rory looked at Gulliver to see how he was doing.

Looking over his work, Gulliver wondered if it would’ve been easier to simply put the boys face in a bag of flour, probably would’ve looked pretty much the same. The lipstick had been fairly easy, however he had a fair bit of trouble with the eyeliner. He couldn’t quite figure out where to put it not how hard to press. There was only so much a waning 50% could do after all.

“Fine for someone doing this for the first time I suppose, maybe you should look into this kind of thing a bit more. Could help you with those little costumes of yours.” Bellamy teased, earning him a look from Gulliver.

"First time? I wouldn't have guessed it, are you into theater or...?" Or was it magic, Rory wondered. This island had so much magic, way more than even Halcyon City.

Rory had stepped closer to Gulliver to inspect his work. It was good. It would hold up under the hard spotlights. It'd make him look, well, normal on stage. Even if it looked hilariously bad when out of theater lights.

“More or less the first time I suppose. Didn’t really ever need it. I have enjoyed many a theatre plays I suppose.” He said, standing up once more, looking down at the girl. It was pretty clear who had one the battle, as much as it pained Gulliver to admit. Then again, in a way he had already won, and while there was never a good enough, or even enough at all for Gulliver, he felt he had lucked out with this mirror headed narcissist.

It was a little odd talking to someone without a face, luckily, Rory was used to that. Back in her world full masks were common, so understanding body language was a must.

She put her hands on her hips and shifted her weight to one leg. "It was fun. Pleasure challenging you, Gulliver. Hopefully, we get to see each other again sometime."

And she held out a hand for him to shake.

“Yes… Fun…” Gulliver mumbled back, taking her hand and shaking it. Truth be told he had never experienced it, he couldn’t experience it. He wanted more than anyone else, but nothing could ever leave him satisfied. Enjoyment was a fleeting experience that left a craving for more. “Regardless, I’d always be up for seeing a face like yours again.” He said, his form once more shifting and condensing into his disguise.

“Come Bellamy. We have mirrors at home.” He said grabbing the regalia by the arm and dragging him out the door.
