As sad as it was, it was almost a relief. Pneumonia. She'd died of natural causes. Unfortunate, but not missing, presumed dead. He nodded, but didn't weigh in on his own stuff at all. If she wanted to know, she'd ask. If she didn't... he wasn't going to drag the mood down.

"Something like that," Angelo said. "Similarities. Common threads. But not exacts. So it's never just 'exactly you but a girl'. It's always a bunch of minor differences, even if the whole thing is generally the same."

Which was a relief. She wasn't him. Just similar. Sibling from another universe was one of the ways that he'd thought about Big Angelo in his head, and it seemed to be pretty much dead on.

"What was your world like? Someone said something about you guys not having cellphones."

"Heh. Yeah. We're about... thirty-three years behind you guys. 1986. Small Town, supernatural shenanigans going on. The Enigmas stopped a goat demon thing's cult from taking over the world. Then they split and Eric, Anna, and me had to pick up the slack."

And then things had gotten worse, somehow. Worse than a cult of goat worshiping psychos. Worse than just losing Monday. And now... Jazz shrugged. "We're here now. And I don't know what we're going to do, but we'll figure it out. We're the Enigmas."

This was all so familiar. Things going wrong. Ending up on Manta Carlos. Having to meet up with his friends via a poster in the community center.

"The school's good at that kind of stuff. At helping people adapt. I was lucky and had Officer Genovese, but it sounds like you already have your friends. Mine didn't show up right away, and the first bit without them was... well, it was difficult."

He didn't like those days. He didn't like the feeling of it. Of being completely alone.

So he surrounded himself with people. He wondered if she did the same.

"If you need anything, just let me know, alright? I'm student council president in addition to all the other stuff, so kind of my job now."

"Yeah, for sure," she said, smiling and brushing her hair back over her ear. It was nice to hear, even if it maybe felt like a kind of standard fare sort of thing. And the reminder that she and the Enigmas didn't have an anchor here in this world.

"Thanks a lot, Angelo. I, uh, think I'm gonna go run around the city and check my fliers. I'm paranoid that they'll be gone and I don't wanna take any chances that my friends slip through the cracks."
