Faeyt and her father had been planning this trip since Faeyt had stolen one of the fliers off of her mother's desk in the library. The little girl had pranced around signing, "Syrup!" like that was how you said it. Nobody had ever taught her how to do the sign for Circus.
And now, the day was here!
She had gotten up when her daddy had, and she had helped him pick out a frilly, red and white dress which had jingle bells all along the bottom of it... honestly, most of her dresses had some sort of bell. She was like a dog - she needed to make noise so people could find her.
She was dancing a few feet in front of her father, despite his frantic signing to get her to his side again. She was paying too much attention to the bright colors, the people, the rush of the crowd soon dragged the small girl off.
When she realized she was lost, she thought back to something her teacher at the daycare had told her - "If you ever get lost, find an adult." Faeyt was always getting lost - but getting lost had been how she had found her mommy and daddy, so getting lost and talking to strangers must be good for something, right?
The tents and lights were dizzying - the child often hated taking her epilepsy meds., her father usually crushed them into the pancakes he made her every single morning, but this morning Faeyt had not eaten her pancakes, she had just shoved them around on her plate. She didn't want them this morning - which was strange in itself.
She had eaten her lunch her father had packed for her when she went to daycare, but that was only half her usual dose. She scrunched her nose and swatted at a tent opening as she stumbled into it.
There were a lot of people back here, and many of them hardly noticed the small child wandering between their legs and under equipment. Eventually, the little Banshee was standing in the center of a very empty circus-ring. Her eyes wide, she stares around.
Where was everybody? It was such a big space, the little girl simply stood in one place and stared around. Eventually she plopped down. She remembered: "If you cannot find an adult, stay in one place, and we'll find you." Her teacher had told her that one as well.
