Faeyt and her father had been planning this trip since Faeyt had stolen one of the fliers off of her mother's desk in the library. The little girl had pranced around signing, "Syrup!" like that was how you said it. Nobody had ever taught her how to do the sign for Circus.

And now, the day was here!

She had gotten up when her daddy had, and she had helped him pick out a frilly, red and white dress which had jingle bells all along the bottom of it... honestly, most of her dresses had some sort of bell. She was like a dog - she needed to make noise so people could find her.

She was dancing a few feet in front of her father, despite his frantic signing to get her to his side again. She was paying too much attention to the bright colors, the people, the rush of the crowd soon dragged the small girl off.

When she realized she was lost, she thought back to something her teacher at the daycare had told her - "If you ever get lost, find an adult." Faeyt was always getting lost - but getting lost had been how she had found her mommy and daddy, so getting lost and talking to strangers must be good for something, right?

The tents and lights were dizzying - the child often hated taking her epilepsy meds., her father usually crushed them into the pancakes he made her every single morning, but this morning Faeyt had not eaten her pancakes, she had just shoved them around on her plate. She didn't want them this morning - which was strange in itself.

She had eaten her lunch her father had packed for her when she went to daycare, but that was only half her usual dose. She scrunched her nose and swatted at a tent opening as she stumbled into it.

There were a lot of people back here, and many of them hardly noticed the small child wandering between their legs and under equipment. Eventually, the little Banshee was standing in the center of a very empty circus-ring. Her eyes wide, she stares around.

Where was everybody? It was such a big space, the little girl simply stood in one place and stared around. Eventually she plopped down. She remembered: "If you cannot find an adult, stay in one place, and we'll find you." Her teacher had told her that one as well.

One hour before the show!

Tonight's theme: Dragon Fire. The Circus was decorated in Chinese colors, with red lanterns hanging on poles and the tent's flaps decorated with dragon scale patterns. Overhead, the sky was painted a stunning blue with Chinese cloud outlines and a very realistic looking Chinese dragon flew overhead, as if blessing the entire event. The Ringmaster made sure to have the decorations and food as respectful to the Chinese culture as much as possible, making it a homage more than East Asian fetishization, seeing that this was the ten year anniversary of the Ringmaster's arrival to China all those years ago.

The once dark tent flashed up with fantastic color overhead as the Circus crew began setting up for the show. Rows upon rows of caravans, animal cages and dressed performers entered center stage to go into the backroom. The decoration inside the main tent was the grandest of them all, seeing that the inside flaps had a wonderful drawing of a dragon circling the entire circus and the main stage floor was red with white etchings of chrysanthemum flowers. Lanterns suspended in thin air lit the whole place up like stars plucked out of the sky to turn the circus more endearing.

The Ringmaster was wearing a red suit with East Asian inspiration, and he followed after his fellow performers into the center stage. Upon arrival, he immediately noticed there was somebody here that wasn't supposed to be here. He walked over to her, giving her a dashing bow.

"Mademoiselle, it's an honor to find a princess here in my humble abode. May I ask... where are your parents?"
