Noli Zaphir
It was finally time. She had waited too long.
Noli could send a video message to her family without having to speak to them directly. She should speak to them directly, but…he felt too cowardly. Maybe if she did this first, then she could work her way up to more direct conversation.
She turned on the camera, took a deep breath, and started speaking in her native language.
“H-hi dad, papa, Laemiri…”
She looked at herself in the monitor. So obviously nervous, it was embarrassing. But she took a deep breath, and continued.
“I’m sorry…about what I did…I took so much money from you, and then I just disappeared without a word. I know you don’t think my visions of Vedite are real, so I can’t imagine you’d believe some of the stuff that has happened to me on Earth…”
Noli actually chuckled a little despite herself. She thought about Malara, Vatar, Illiya…no, they really would never believe it. And what would be more crazy to them: that she dated a Goddess, or that she nearly broke up with a Goddess? Or that…maybe she still was going to…
But anyway, that wasn’t the point of her message.
“Um…I’m going to stay on Earth for a while. I don’t know when I’ll go to Vedite…or…if I will, anymore. I want to stay on Earth. There are so many people here I have come to care about, and people have been so kind to me…so…”
She rubbed at the back of her neck, looking away from the camera.
“I’m going to stay here, and I am going to pay back all the money I stole. I’m so sorry…b-but I have a job here, so I will start saving up…”
Not to mention, she had all that money she originally intended to spend on getting off of Earth. That came from a…second job, that her family definitely did not need to know about. But she would definitely be sending a good portion of that money to her fathers.
“And I’m going to go to the Academy! I’ll continue my education, because that’s really what you wanted me to do, isn’t it? But, um, it’s a holiday right now, so I’m not in school yet…”
Noli paused, cleared her throat.
“U-umm…I guess that’s it. I’ll try to stay in contact a little better from now on, okay? I love you.”
Noli quickly reached over and turned off the camera. This was enough, for now. There were other things she wanted to talk about, but couldn’t really find the words for.
