A late day at the Pier

Iris ran toward the raging waves to get herself hydrated, her skin looked like a dried raisin from being away from the waters for more than 12 hours. She jumped into the water and quickly transformed into her mermaid form. Her fingers appeared to be webbed and scales began to cover her arms slowly moving to her body. She took a deep breath under water and swam deeper into the cave that she normally sleeps in during her weekends. The fishes that saw the young mermaid coming quickly swam away, they knew how cruel Iris could be hence it would be best for them to stay away from her.

The night was peaceful and the water wasn't as cold as the days before. After a quick nap, the young girl swam up to the shore and laid on the sandy beach, digging her tails into the sand. She wasn't aware of the existence of another student near the dock until a boy came to disturb the peaceful night and another one. Great! Iris splashed the water with her fin toward the group and glared at them coldly. "Must you really disturb the sound of nature calling out for peace with no interruption of any human voice or whatever you are?" they weren't being loud it was just Iris being easily irritated as well as being extremely selfish, wanting everything to go according to her way.

Hazel listened to Theron as she drew, nodding. So she wasn't the only one that saw something at the bonfire. So, that must mean at least one person close to him was dead, but the question was who.

"Your subconscious must have some remnants of your past in it still. You may not be able to remember who this dragon was, but deep in your mind the memory is still there."

She did perk up a bit as someone was scolding them. She looked out of her boat, spying a mermaid on the beach. She didn't like them talking, so obviously....

"Hey get over it."

He listened and nodded, it made sense, so maybe his memories were still locked away somewhere in his mind, maybe he could get them back, "I wondered if something was wrong with me, not being able to remember someone who felt like family to me." It felt good telling his girlfriend this.

His eyes darted over to the beach as he heard the mermaid lecturing them, but he ignored them, the sea wasn't their property, he and Hazel had every right to use it.

He turned back to Hazel, "despite not having memory, I've always felt like I've lost people, I've always felt like, I needed to mourn someone, like someone I know died but I just couldn't remember," and that was something he had never told anyone, not even Trent.

It was like the sad scene in a movie, where the pair say they love each other right before one dies or leaves, never to return. Victor mentally scolded himself for listening, this was obviously a tense moment.

At least it was until the mermaid spoke and splashed water towards them. after that, it didn't seem right to just listen in, especially since he realized he was listening to them say their darkest secrets. So Victor started to move away, this time without his power, as he could feel a headache forming; a sign he was using his power too much.

Being both dark, and needing glasses, Victor misjudged the step he had made and fell off the dock. Thankfully the water was shallow but had made a large noise.

"Yeah, it's understandable. I'm sure that something close to you felt like it was loss, whether it was or not. I guess that what it means when you have amnesia."

She was going to continue on, but then there was a splash. She looked over to the noise, and saw Victor falling in there. Well, she wasn't sure who it was, but either way, someone needed to go in there. However, she couldn't exactly swim...

"Theron, can you get whoever fell in out please?"

He turned as his ears picked up on the splashing, "seems the pier is a popular spot," he had been hoping to have some private time with Hazel, but it seems that wasn't going to happen, "got it." He stole a quick kiss from while making sure not to tip over either of their boats and started rowing toward the sound.

In no time he found the source of the sound, the guy's scent was familiar, Theron snapped his fingers and formed a bit of fire for extra light, "you ok?"

This is embarrassing for him. Victor had just fallen into the lake at night and was now cold and wet. He splashed over to the docks ladder and climbed up back onto the dock, shoes squelching as he did.

"Uh, I'm fine thanks."

Certain he wasn't going to fall in again, he froze time and went home to not bear the shame of the public attention.

Hmm, Victor was the one that fell in? She may not have known him too well, but that was still a bit surprising. Why was he out here in the first place, and how'd he fall in? Questions for a later date. For now, she may follow Victor's thought process. Her alone time was ruined, so she should just pack up and go home.

Quickly gathering her stuff, she gave Theron a quick hug, waving and heading back home. It was a bit rude to do, but eh, oh well.
