Name: Kristen Mayor
Age: 18
Birthday: December 5th
Gender: Female
Class: College
Grade: Freshman
College Major: Veterinary Medicine
Appearance Description:
Kris stands at 5'4" and has auburn brown hair that falls just past her shoulder blades, and messy bangs that get in her light brown eyes. Her hair is almost always worn up in a ponytail at the back of her head. Since you'll often find her out in the sun whenever she gets the chance, she has a healthy tan that splatters freckles across her fair skin, though she's careful not to get burnt. The bottoms of her feet are often covered in dirt, as she prefers to walk around barefoot.
Fashion is not something Kris has any interest in nor passion for, and her wardrobe is evidence of this. Her closet consists mostly of tank tops, simple shirts, and hoodies with funny faces and sayings stamped across the chest. She's not one for wearing make-up unless she's going out somewhere or meeting someone important, and even if she does she's likely to keep it light and simple. So long as she looks somewhat presentable, she doesn't particularly care about how she looks.
Personality Description:
The first time you meet Kris is like standing in direct sunlight for too long. Kris is a cheerful, upbeat girl who loves nothing more than joking and smiling. She gently teases the people she cares most about, pulling their leg and laughing with them, not at them. She's kindhearted and optimistic, but she has a good head on her shoulders. She's an honest person who hates to lie, and will tell the truth at her own expense if she believes it's for the best. She may not be very confident, and her motherly instincts can often come off as overbearing, bossy, and prying, but her heart's always in the right place.
Powers:
- Plant Generation - Kris has an affinity for plant life, and has the ability to rapidly speed up the growth of seeds and plants. Under her green thumb, seeds can become fully grown and bear fruit in a matter of seconds. Plants naturally grow towards or around her, resulting in patches of grass or moss being left in her wake wherever she walks. This makes her sensitive to the heat and cold; she's susceptible to heat strokes if she's not careful during the summer, and grows lethargic and sleepy when it's cold during the winter.
- Healing - She can heal damaged or sick plants, as well as magically healing injured animals. She must have extensive knowledge of the animal's body in order to properly heal major damage, such as setting bones or closing gaping wounds. It's less of an instant fix and more of a speeding up of the healing process, however. She can also perform minor healing on human beings; the extent of this is small, such as fixing a hang nail, small burns, or scratches.
Biography:
Kris was born and raised in the Florida Keys, hailing from a small town with a population of just over 5,000. She's the oldest of three, with a younger brother and sister who she cares for deeply. Her mom worked from home as a reporter for the local paper, and her dad owned a mechanics shop that specialized in boat repairs. They didn't have a lot, but they were never wanting, either. It was a comfortable life.
She lived her whole life wanting to leave it all behind someday.
The overwhelming feeling that permeated her her entire life growing up made her feel guilty though. What did she have to run away from? There was no reason to drop her life and her family and leave them all behind the minute she got the chance, right? Despite whatever fun she could find for herself, however, she felt like nothing she did could measure up to the adventures she read about in her favorite books. She wanted more from her life than what had been given to her.
And so she got older and older. Around middle school the loud, rambunctious child Kris had been slowly became a quiet, withdrawn preteen. She found solace with animals, helping at the local animal shelter rather than hanging out with her classmates.
It was around that time that Kris began to notice she was changing; if she stood still too long, the grass would eventually swallow up her feet. Vines were slowly creeping their way into her bedroom. And one day, a small dog at the shelter got into a fight, and Kris somehow healed away his wounds like it had never happened.
Before she could panic too much, a letter arrived at her home one day, reassuring her that she wasn't so strange after all. That there were others like her, and they were waiting for her on the other side of the world. It was her ticket out of Florida, but Kris found herself floundering. Eventually, with some encouragement from her parents, she packed her bags and left everything she knew behind for the academy.
It's been a few years now since Kris left Florida to find a new home in the Pacific. She's outgrown her preteen shyness for the most part, and is entering the academy's college seeking to become a veterinarian before striking out to see what else the world has to offer her.
