Despite his issues, Jonah is working on handling his problems in healthier ways than distracting himself with sex, and he's making strides to acknowledge his past and move forward.

Jonah's magic allows him to conjure a labyrinth. When used, he summons a tall, pure-black door with no inscription or otherwise distinguishing features. Entering it brings someone to a labyrinth that is completely unlit. Its layout varies from a set of recognizable features, to completely unknown configurations. Anything or anyone left in the labyrinth will eventually vanish due to the changing nature of the maze, although the amount of time it takes varies. Jonah alone is the only person who the labyrinth will not "devour" so to say, but even so it can change around him, and therefore he has not explored it himself-- nor does he want to.
Those consumed by the labyrinth are seemingly erased from the memories of all those in the current timeline.
At the moment, he has no control over when the door can be summoned, nor can he control the elements inside it in any way.

His biological parents were drug-hyped radicals who seemed to perpetually live in the 70’s green movement, and thus at a young age he and his brother, after spending 4-5 wonderful years with the couple, were eventually placed in the care of an uncle in Juárez, Mexico while the Greys went world-hopping to spread their radical idealism, and to “live the way humans were meant to live” out in the wilds. They later disappeared in a mountaineering accident.

He was transferred to an adoption agency and stayed there for two years before being adopted by a busy family of four. He wasn’t mistreated, but neither did he ever feel like he was part of the family. He did poorly in school, barely passing, was extremely shy and oftentimes played hooky as he grew older, staying out far past curfew and becoming more outgoing in his mid-teens. Mingling with people became a regular thing, whether it was on the street or in a bar, club, or wherever he could sneak into with a fake ID.
When Jonah was 14, he met another boy named Colin. The two were very close until a mishap involving Jonah's power caused him to vanish into the labyrinth, thus erasing all evidence of Colin from this world save for Jonah's own memories. Jonah strongly believes he may have made up Colin's entire existence as a result.

Their uncle had a few too many hands in the drug cartel business. Drive-by shootings were common, and one day August and Jonah were caught in crossfire while walking home from the grocery store. August did not survive. In the following years, his uncle began to abuse him sexually until Jonah managed to reach out and call CPS.
When Jonah was 14, he met another boy named Colin. The two were very close until a mishap involving Jonah's power caused him to vanish into the labyrinth, thus erasing all evidence of Colin from this world save for Jonah's own memories.
