Name: Samantha Whittaker
Age: 19
Birthday:
Gender: Female (Trans)
Category: Student
Class: College
Grade: First Year
College Major: Creative Writing (Working towards a Doctorate of Arts)

Appearance Description: Having transitioned into a beautiful young woman, Samantha is a pale, willowy little thing with short, black, feathery hair. She’s just a little shorter and a bit thinner than the average girl her age, with a petite, sporty build. Her bust and curves are small, but still easily noticeable. Samantha has a soft, friendly looking face with pretty features, and her blue eyes are very bright.

Samantha has made all of her clothes, but her colour coordination isn’t always the best. She’s wearing a pale orange short-sleeved button-up blouse, which she keeps open over a violet tank top. A pair of striped purple and black arm warmers cover her arms up to her elbows, mimicking her mismatched purple and black knee-length socks. The young woman’s skirt is a (some would say) garish orange plaid. The entire ensemble is topped out with a puffy, dark purple newsboy cap, a large over-the-shoulder computer bag, and black combat boots.

Personality Description: Samantha has a very high energy that she applies to just about everything she does. She approaches life with a positive outlook and unbridled enthusiasm, and she tries her best to spread her optimism around. While the girl’s incredibly passionate and energetic, she has a bit of a lazy streak. She’s often content to lounge around and take part in low-key activities, and can often be found snacking and reading. Sam’s a lover of fantasy novels, comic books and manga, and she’s prone to arguing at length about them. She's also particularly fond of other media, like videogames and anime. She particularly likes stories about transformation - mahou shoujo and tokusatsu shows are a very big deal for her.

The young woman is something of a smartass, frequently relying on sarcasm and dry wit to get a point across. She does her best not to offend people with her snark, but she's prone to getting carried away, particularly when she's frustrated or angry. Samantha's difficult to anger, but she has no tolerance or patience for bullies and foolish people. Despite her own go-getter attitude and passionate energy, she's easily angered by poorly thought-out plans and people who don't think about the consequences of their actions. The young woman's mindful to not be a hypocrite, and she does her best to restrain her energetic nature enough to look before leaping. Nonetheless, there are times where Samantha charges in while using her heart instead of her brain, particularly when the situation affects her emotionally.

Sam feels deeply, and is a lot more sensitive than she lets on. She does her best to keep a wide grin on her face even when she's not really feeling it, and there's always a nagging feeling of depression that she keeps trying to force down. Samantha is a little insecure over who she is and how people view her, and she fears loneliness and rejection more than anything else in the world. She's a loser and she knows it, and the more time she spends walking in the shadows of giants, the more it sinks in to her that she's a small fish in a big pond. She looks back at her own accomplishments and sees very little of interest or note, and thus does her best to act nonchalant about her past and emphasize the few aspects about it that she feels are really exciting, all the while trying to coolly play them off as though they're nothing.

It goes without saying, but being an everyday teenager from North America with no sort of combat experience to speak of leaves Sam way out of her field when it comes to the supernatural. Explanations on cryptozoology, magic and how individual superpowers work generally fly over her head or get tripped up through her understanding of them from popular culture, and she tends to not actually understand what's being said to her about them most of the time. She tries her best, but she's just so used to a relatively mundane life that she has trouble wrapping her head around things many others take for granted.

Powers: History Absorption: The only power Samantha currently has, and even then its incredibly latent and Sam has very little actual control over it. Whenever Samantha picks up or uses an object, she can intuit the last three things that the object was used for, and by whom. This knowledge comes to her spontaneously and unprompted, and it comes without any sort of flair or grand vision. It's as though she's always known that the spoon she's holding was used to stir eggs, was washed, and then thrown at the neighbour's dog in that order. That's really all she can do with this power as of now.

Biography: Alan Whittaker had always known that they were different from the other kids. They didn't really fit in with anyone, and they were frequently mocked and teased for liking girly things. Their parents were the patient sort, unsure how to help their son but not wanting to force him to not be himself. The problem was that for Alan, being himself meant doing and saying things that'd get him mocked and beat up on a regular basis.

Alan eventually came to the self-realization that he identified as a girl. They felt more confident and comfortable doing feminine things and wearing feminine clothes, frequently stealing his relatives' dresses and skirts to try on. They came out to their parents relatively quickly, partly due to the fact that they felt like they'd be able to help in one way or another.

Alan and their family lived in a rather small and conservative town where such things were discouraged and shunned, so it was a small miracle that Alan's parents were as supportive as they were. In order to get the medical help Alan needed, the family moved to the big city, hoping that the change of scenery would help Alan create a new identity for themselves while going to therapy.

Alan had rebranded herself as Samantha and had started taking treatments early in her high school career. It was a bit of a rough transition, but as far as things went it was much smoother than most of her life growing up. She was able to make friends, she was able to feel comfortable in her own skin doing what she wanted to do, and she just felt... normal. It was a feeling she had been hoping to have for a long time. The only big problem was that this entire journey had costed money. Samantha and her family had been so focused on the now that they had blown through most of the funds set aside for her education. She had been preparing herself to spend a couple years in the workforce after graduating before entering any kind of college or university.

However, there was another unique trait about her that had not gone unnoticed by the right people. Samantha never really believed in magic and the like, despite her love for stories about it. She certainly didn't think she would have any kind of magic or superpower of her own, that'd just be ridiculous. However, she bore a potential for the supernatural that was actually quite palpable. While the only remarkable thing Samantha ever had was a "hunch" about things, she pops up like a firecracker when someone looks for people with "gifts". Whatever she has, it's pretty damn dormant, but it was relevant enough for her to receive a letter of acceptance from the Starlight Academy.

On one hand, Samantha didn't think of herself as the least bit gifted. On the other hand, free rides for education don't just drop into your lap every day. Putting her skepticism aside and getting her family's blessing one last time, Samantha took the deal. It'd be nice to live somewhere new and push to get that doctorate sooner than she expected it.
