25th of October. Sleepy Hollow had a notice posted of it closing early for the day — a surprise to most its patrons because as far as they all knew, Sleepy Hollow had never closed at all.
But the cafe was not closed-- in fact, faint music can be heard from outside. People who would pay close attention would be aware that the cafe was simply reserved for a private event. A few black envelopes were given around certain people days before. Invitations to a private gathering for selected guests.
The host of the event, the Dullahan-- it might be proper to say she "looked" pleased at as she watched her guests. Most had attended but very few seemed to have decided they would not show. A shame, she thought. Aisling cut through the crowd to one side of the room where a little stage was arranged for a live band--the entire cafe was rearranged only for the event.
The volume of her dress was less compared to most days; her ever present veil was out of sight (everyone can clearly see her that she was without her head) and her Lolita dress was replaced with a sleek black evening gown and a raven feather shawl. Her pendant was tied behind her hand where she held a wine glass (for some reason), glowing as she began to speak.
"Good evening to all! Ladies, gentlemen: my esteemed guests, I thank you all for coming tonight. I would like to welcome you all to the Masquerade of the Dead.
"I'm certain most of you are... curious as to why I gathered you all tonight. Near is All Hallows' Eve and I believe it's only right that we celebrate this season of the Dead. Only for us, of course: Reapers, Death Incarnates, Harbingers, Necromancers and... the Undead. We are those closest to Death itself and this celebration is rightfully for each and every one of us."
Aisling raises her glass, "Tonight is ours!"
@"ReD" @"Tom Marvolo Riddle" @"Poptart" @"Iridian Death" @"Thoth"
DeathCon is a gathering for grim reapers, death incarnates, harbingers, necromancers and pretty much anyone else who has something to do with death... reanimated corpses included. The event is invite-only and yeah there are "security" outside checking whether or not the ones walking in are invitees. Some more details here
