Appearance Description: Zati stands tall at a sky-scraping 5’9”. Or, she would, if she wasn’t eternally slumped over holding a sheaf of papers or a coffee cup. Her skin is pale, if only because she doesn’t travel often to the world outside her back-end office. Her long hair, golden and curling, is always frizzy and almost dull in most light. Zati keeps it wrapped up in a messy bun on her head, though pieces wisp out in every direction. She’s plush and soft around the edges from too many cheap Chinese take-out visits, but moves slowly and methodically, as if she always knew exactly where she was going.

Her clothes are fashionable… if fashionable was “twenty years ago.” She wears shawls and fringes and long pants, with bangling earrings and sparkling hairpins. No matter what she’s wearing, there are bangles on her arms and rings on her fingers. The only color she believes in is black. Sometimes, when she’s feeling a little rebellious, she might break out the dark gray. She’s always seen wearing thick glasses, and can’t see anything without them. Even with them, her vision is severely limited, and she cannot legally drive. Her glinting green eyes, magnified by the lenses, peek out in a perpetual, curious squint.

Personality Description: Zati really keeps to herself unless spoken to, but once the first step is taken, she explodes into a whirlwind of excitement. To her, every person is a past, future, and present, with bloodlines spanning back for generations and a spider web of choices ahead. She is always, always smiles and cheerfulness and “Just keep going!” unless it’s a new moon. Once a month on that day, Zati is drained, anxious, and depressed. The new moon reflects a time of darkness and mystery, where the future is obscured, and for a clairvoyant, such a time is painful.

She masks a hidden pain, however, and often takes her office hours trapped within meditation, hiding her unsure feelings. For every divination, she must hide her uncertainty for her own future, the only one that she herself cannot see.

Powers: Divination – With some sort of aid (mentioned below), Zatrina can see different aspects of the future. Each reading takes some of her mental energy, and they are listed in the order of mental stress on her. The more mental stress and power she gives, the more accurate and specific the reading. She cannot do readings on her own future, and she cannot give readings on a spirit not within her reach (i.e. not in the same room) unless given an article from that spirit, such as clothing, or a personal item. The closer this item was held to the spirit, the more accurate the reading. For example, a tea reading about a person not present with a jacket they left in class would be very vague, such as “They will find happiness come the next moonrise,” whereas a blood reading of someone who is before her will be very accurate, such as “Bob is in grave danger from the mob, who will strike three days hence as the sun rises in the clutches of his home.”

Tea – By sharing tea with someone and reading the tea leaves, Zati can give the general impression of the future in a few days, a few weeks, or a few months, as specified by the tea-drinker before the tea is poured. The reading is very vague and doesn’t take much energy from Zati. She usually does this for students who visit her with minor concerns.

Palm – By reading someone’s palm, Zati can discern six outcomes from six lines: the Life, the Head, the Heart, the Fate, the Sun, and the Health. Readings such as these aren’t geared towards the future, but at the life of a whole person and their personality. Zati performs these readings mostly for young students who still have not found themselves.

Crystal – With the aid of a crystal (be it a traditional crystal ball or a small palm-sized clear gem), Zati can, with a guiding phrase from the spirit being read (such as “that test next week”), tell the outcome of one event. She cannot give guidance to reaching that place or state, or anything that happens thereafter.

Tarot – This reading requires some preparation with the cards and the spirit being read, so Zati doesn’t often use her tarot deck. To perform a reading, Zati and the spirit in question must muse over the cards, shuffle them together, and under the cover of the moon and stars, begin the lengthy process of a reading. While this may reveal much about one event, the cards can be volatile and Zati cannot control them. They could spell happiness, or ruin, and Zati must speak the truth as she reads it, whether they read love or loss, life or death. These are very draining to Zati and she cannot do more than one tarot reading a day.

Blood* – This is the most dangerous and exhausting reading for Zati, as it requires her spirit to intimately join with another’s to read its past, present, and future as a whole. In her belief, it is a violation of the privacy a soul has by its very existence, and will only perform this in the direst of situations. The reading is accurate as can be, almost is Zati could gaze herself with perfect clarity into the future. To perform this, Zati must draw blood from the living body of the spirit she is reading and consume it. Zati reacts very negatively to this, and grows sick for days or even weeks in response to reading. During this time she cannot read at all, and lives in a morose state of melancholy.

No matter how she tries, Zati cannot read any aspect of her own future.

*Blood divinations are very volatile and the extent of the reading can be of the future, but also far to the past.

Biography: For all her curiosity of other’s pasts, presents, and futures, Zati refuses to say a word about herself. If someone pries, Zati says she used to live on a tiny farm in Nebraska, a place many people can’t even find on a map, and came to the Academy for undergraduate study after discovering at the end of high school her ability to “see” into the future. The validity of this is in question to all except for Zati’s employer, the headmistress of the academy.

Additional Information: OOC: All readings are done with full consent by the owner of the character being read! All readings are planned in OOC chat and no “surprises” will pop up in readings. This is an RP that is written by me but the outcomes are controlled by YOU!
