They had her do a few test runs and it seemed to be working. But then, they wanted to do more drastic changes: bones, joints, tissue, skin. Emer didn’t feel comfortable with that much of her natural body being replaced, so she asked if she could resign from the project. Unfortunately, she was their only willing test subject, so they kept her in their facility against her will for months as they forcibly replaced parts of her legs. Meanwhile, they used their findings to advertise their scientific discoveries and offer their surgeries to the public for a high price. There was one mistake in their plan to keep Emer contained. They may have strengthened her legs, but not the door to her cell. Eventually, she was able to kick in the metal door and make her escape. From there, she fled to Starlight Academy to make sure they wouldn’t trail her. After all, there were other kids like her with weird powers. She’d like to think that her new found powers were a blessing, but she knew they were added against her will.
