Being a selkie she has the power of seduction or allure when she dances. This is more like a trance-like state; she cannot make anyone do anything she wishes. Though as a young selkie such as she currently is at the age of two, this ability is much stronger than it is when she is older - as the ability weakens with age. Toddler selkies (2-5) can do meaningless little dances and have an entire room captive and then this ability dies down until they're in their late teens (18-30).
She also has the ability to shift herself. Normally it is by losing their pelts - and though she is a selkie, her pelt is passed down from her family - therefore meaning that the pelt left on her when she was left in the orphanage in the forest, was most likely belonging to one of her parents. The pelt was entrusted to the orphanage master, trusting he would give it to her one day. While her pelt is out of her possession she can be enslaved by the one who does have it and she cannot shift her form.
That being so, she still needs to regularly douse herself in water/go swimming or her skin will start drying out and cracking.

Biography:

her mother and father leave her in the middle of the forest by the academy; they are on the run from their 'owner' as he wanted to sell their child.
the mother leaves a very special pelt with the child - that of her grandmother, saekyl'th.
the child is soon found by another child at the forest orphanage.
she's taken in and lives very happily in the forest with the other fae orphans.
