Name: François Lafayette
Age: 17
Birthday: 14 September
Gender: Male
Category: Student
Class: High School- Junior

Appearance Description: François is a Vulpegryph. Essentially, the same as a normal gryphon, except with the body of a fox instead of the feline body of most other gryphons. His fur and eyes a russet color, his paws and talons being black, and his belly being white. His wings are a dark grey, as is his beak. In addition, his wings are a bit oversized, and usually gets around by flying, as walking can be a bit cumbersome. As part of his attire, François wears a black scarf around his neck, even in the summer. He also has a silver earring in his left ear, with Celtic knot designs etched into it. On the top of his head is a beret of dark grey color.

In human form, François has a head of red hair down to his shoulders, which he keeps in a ponytail so that it doesn't get in the middle of his work. His face has a certain fairness about it, not quite pale, but not quite tanned either, which can either be attributed to the fact that he spends more time in his gryphon form or to his acclimation to cold climates. His clothing in this form consists of black cargo jeans, a white button up shirt and a black overcoat. His beret, scarf and earring also carry over into this form, taking their respective places on his person.

Personality Description:
On the outside, François seems jovial and cheerful. His artistic nature shows up in various ways, from the way he dresses to even how he writes. At first glance, one would assume he loved his lot in life. However, his private sketches show a different story. François has a hard time communicating with others, due to the fact he speaks French, not English. Also, he gets homesick from time to time, wishing he could return to Québec, even if it was just for a day. While he appreciates the shelter and protection from prying eyes that Starlight Academy offers, he often questions whether it is for the better.

Powers: As a Vulpegryph, François has the ability to shape-shift between his true, gryphon form and his human form. It takes almost a full minute for the transformation to complete, and the process itself, while not painful in anyway, is quite uncomfortable for him, as it involves rearranging organs and bones and whatnot. Generally speaking, he only uses this power to avoid scaring people in public. Any other time, he is usually seen in his gryphon form.

Biography:

There isn't much François will tell anyone about his past, often saying it's not his favorite topic. His reluctance comes with good reason. He thinks he was born in the backwoods of Québec, Canada and left at an orphanage that didn't really question how or why; in actuality, François was the result of a top secret genetic research project who's original goals were lost long before his creation. The lead scientist, while deeming the little Vulpegryph a failure, felt it would be cruel to simply end his life right there, and left him at the orphanage he resided in until his early teens.

During his early childhood, François realized that he was different in some way, to the point where he simply asked the headmistress where he came from. Her answer was shocking to the boy, needless to say. She explained to him what he was, a Vulpegryph, but she couldn't tell him where he came from. Regardless, she warmed him not to show off his true self, either intentionally or by accident. The next day, however, proved to hold just that. While François was in his room, doodling in his journal, he had decided to try to change into his true Vulpegryph form for the first time... Just in time for another kid to wander by the open door. After some screaming and shouting, the situation was cleared up, with the other child being convinced that what François did was merely a horrible nightmare. A few weeks later, François received a letter from Starlight Academy, inviting him to a place where he could be himself without having to keep himself locked up like a dirty little secret. It was an offer he was reluctant to accept, but one that he took only for the fact he didn't have to hide himself anymore.
