・・ APPEARANCE ・・
To the eyes of a human, Mimi looks very peculiar. Standing at a height of only 3 feet and 4 inches, she looks very much like a little alien cat-bug that somehow managed to walk on its two hind legs. She's very petite, but her mane grows wild and long in contrast, reaching down to her heel in large waves that seems like an ocean of fire. For some reason, she lets part of it fall over the side of face.
All four of her eyes are golden in color, the larger ones giving her this look that's a mix of intense curiosity and cheekiness, while the smaller ones above just look sort of droopy. Narrow antennae protrude above her second set of eyes, often appearing to be combed back and following after her mane, though occasionally, they're found to be in front of her. There's an odd pattern in the middle of her antennae that she never explained to anyone. Her snout looks rather like a cat, minus the whiskers, much like any other of her species.
Her skin doesn't look any more different than the typical Islander Aveillite, with its yellowish brown coloration and patterns occurring around her forehead, chest and thighs that gradually turn darker as it reaches her extremities. When looking at her, she doesn't look like she has shoulders given the fact that Aveillite body structures have shoulders appearing lower that it would with humans. She also has three digits on each limb, and a pair of bumps on the side of her torso which are just old limbs that had grown out of use as she got past her larval stage.
Being among the type of her species that lives closer to water, Mimi looks rather more aquatic, with her tail looking like a tadpole's and in place of wings are kind of like pectoral fins. Mimi also has an additional set of fins on the sides of her hips, and a dorsal fin just at the back of her neck that runs down to her waist, hidden under her mane. Her gills aren't visible when she's on dry land, but it shows up as slits on her neck when she's breathing underwater.
While clothing for her species is actually not commonplace outside of its identifying purposes, Mimi has grown accustomed to wearing clothes on a daily basis. She often wears simple but rather elegant-looking ones — nothing that isn't a loose blouse and a lengthy skirt that reach to her heel — but she also does opt for something more fitting when doing some pirate-related business. She tends to wear muted autumn colors, just so it wouldn't create too much of a contrast to the blazing red of her mane. Oh and, shoes don't exist to her.

・・ PERSONALITY ・・
In Aveillene standards, Mimi is easily considered an aberrant — the issue with this accusation is that she's spent some part of her very impressionable stage of her childhood outside of Aveilla territory that letting herself be assimilated into the hive system sounds pretty whacked. Not only is she an outcast for the crimes raised against her, she actually isn't even capable of rejoining Aveillene society without consequences to her mindset.
Her race highly values the sense of community, uniformity, as well as fellowship with sharing common goals and beliefs but Mimi is a long way from any of that. If anything, Mimi's rather individualistic. She likes expressing herself more than the other Aveillite, flaunting any of her unique traits if she can and openly speaking of her personal beliefs. She values her own opinions as well as her personal interests, not hesitating to even go into lengthy discussion with others regarding it. She could be aggressive about it especially if she dislikes the person.
Polite as she may be to most people, she's generally pretty aggressive in any of her pursuits, be it of knowledge or something more active like pillaging the next star system with the Solar Vale crew. Criminal acts aside, this can make Mimi a very effective worker since she's the type to be eager to get a job done. Although, there are times that she can go overboard. She also has a strong opinion against being grounded, which at times, gets her into more trouble than she should be.
"Simple things in life" is almost to no value to her. One could say she's kind of greedy — she wouldn't even deny it at all. Despite seeming like a very profound individual with all her talks of individuality, she's actually kind of pretty shallow in some respects. Almost as if the fact that she was practically brainwashed for the war in her youth gave her this one-track mind. Which isn't quite the case. For some reason, her species' natural curiosity just evolved with her, making her into whatever she is now.
Her pursuit for knowledge has added much to her mental arsenal since she joined the crew. One of the things she greatly prides herself with is how well-versed she is about weaponry — mainly when it comes to big fire arms. Participating in an interstellar war has given her some insight on advanced weaponry though not enough to apply them without any possible failures. She's a good escape artist too, not only as a natural trait, but also from the training she received under alien troops.
If 'cooking' means the process of making food fit for an Aveillite, she'd say she's excellent at it but if it's for the human context then... she has more things to learn. At least she already has an advantage on pureeing! Otherwise she...really doesn't have any other household skills to boast. At least she can say she's a good swimmer (even if that has nothing to do with the home.)
Mimi's quite a multilingual: along with a knowledge for her native tongues which are the universal Aveillene language and it's Islander variant, she also knows a thing or two in English and is able to hold a long enough conversation to prove it. Although, figures of speech seem to get away from her. She also knows some bits of Oleti, and another alien language she forgot the name of. She couldn't well care about it at this point anyway.
She's very much a huge nerd, and very eager to learn anything she could possibly get her hands on. She's adventurous but a little bit out of control at times. While she does have a particular interest on machines and technology, she wouldn't mind learning a thing or two about this Earthling fashion she keeps seeing around. Almost everything is a curiosity for her and she's very much open to learning beyond what she can possibly hope to understand.

・・ SPECIES ABILITIES ・・
Aveillites are vocal creatures and mainly communicate with chirps, clicks, purrs, and other sounds deemed incomprehensible by human standards. They are capable of emitting a wide range of sounds including human speech and have the ability to actually learn other languages not of their own species with simply the proper exposure. Having been exposed to three alien species, Mimi can technically speak three otherworld languages outside her own.
More to that, Aveillites are also biologically evolved to be able to use echolocation using a special frequency that their species can emit. Not only can it be used for navigation, it can also be used as beacons to locate individuals to even weaponizing them against their own kind. This frequency can range to something as harmless as echolocative clicks to one that can disrupt bodily functions. This destructive frequency is capable of causing internal damage for some Earth animals and insects, but also at the cost of their own hearing, unless properly equipped. At most, it would only cause some mild nausea and hallucinations for humans.
Aveillites can also purr! They emit soft vibrations from their throats. Typically used as a show of affection for most Aveillites, their purrs also have therapeutic qualities similar to Earth cats. All abellite have antennae which pick up vibrations in the air serving usually as hearing, but also as main sensory especially when sight is unavailable.
Sight is possibly one of the weakest senses for an Aveillite, but this doesn't stop them from literally having four eyes. An Aveillites facial features doesn't look too different from the human arrangement, if one ignores the extra set of eyes and snout that looks very much feline. It's hard to understand an Aveillites eyes from the human perspective but there is visually almost no difference between the iris and the sclera — assuming it even works the same way.
In terms of strength and speed to compare to humans, it often varies by type with the plains-dwellers being the physically strongest, and the forest-dwellers and ground-dweller as most agile on the ground but on average, Aveillites are notably quicker compared to humans, mainly due to their size and lightness.
Another special feature of an Aveillite's physiology are their prehensile tails. Though appearing differently for each and every type, all Aveillene tails can basically act as another hand which can wrap around objects for grip. Young Aveillites have no use of their tails until they grown out their baby shells but once that they gain maneuverability of their tails, they will have essentially gained a fifth limb. Their tails will be just as strong as their arms assuming they use them often but at most times, it can't safely carry their weight. Pull-ups with their only tails is not recommendable unless properly trained. If anything though, it can deliver a really mean tail whip.

There are six types of Aveillites that exist which all have evolved from what type of habitat their ancestors have chosen which are named as the Quarry-dwellers, Forest-dwellers, Sky-dwellers, Island-dwellers, the Cavern-dwellers and the additional Ground-dwellers that had emerged during the warring era, long before they entered the space age.
Island-dwellers, affectionately referred to as the "Islanders" are the more aquatic-inclined members of the Aveillene species. Common physical traits found in these variants are their rather small builds and their soft armoring. But the most notable difference they have in comparison to others are their physiology largely favoring aquatic maneuverability by possessing fins and wings that take a fin-like appearance that are much more fit for swimming rather that flying.
They do not possess immense strengths as their quarry-dwelling counterparts or speeds like the forest-dwellers, but they are noted for their fluidity and flexibility which not only makes Islanders excellent dancers but this also makes them excellent escape artists under the wrong prison type. They are evolved to be amphibious, possessing a set of gills as a secondary breathing mechanism and respiratory systems that are collapsible, which allows this type to deep-dive without much issue.
Islanders extended exposure to water have evolved their exoskeletons into something similar to sharks' skin that while not exactly sturdy enough to protect them from strong blows, they're quite fitting for swimming. Their exoskeletons can also heal but the rate will depend on the severity of the damage which can range from a few hours for minor scratches, up to a couple of weeks from more serious breaks.
As the water dwellers of their species, they are also capable of observing anything underwater much better than their counterparts. While all Aveillites' eyes are protected by a type of gel that can protect the Islanders' eyes from substances in the water, only Islanders can adjust to the limited visuals in water. This gel in their eyes can protect Aveillites from having particles in the water enter their eyes, including the salt content from Earth's oceans.

Eating Habits :: Aveillites are much like herbivores: their diet consist of flowers, some varieties of leafy greens, fruits, and finely ground seeds that occur in their planet similar to Earth. Although this is the case, they normally do not eat them as is. Aveillites process their food into gel-like substance to help them for ease of digestion which is why Mimi is very fond of concentrate juices and jams. She likes seaweed stuff though.
They have difficulty digesting anything like meat, even when processed, except for processed fish. Sugar is considered to be a rare delicacy on their planet. They can get intoxicated by capsaicin (which is present in chili) through consumption, and on minty chemicals (like in eucalyptus and menthol) even just by their scent.
Life Span :: An average Aveillite can live up to 50 star cycles, which is estimated to be up to 350 Earth years. An Aveillite's life begins at a larval stage, born alive and raised in a communal hive for one star cycle. After which they will go through a stage of metamorphoses for about a month — a stage which some do not survive from. They will emerge as podlings, having already achieved a humanoid shape, though their bodies will be covered with hard shells. They will then be moved back to their respective parents at as they enter "primary school age" for basic up to general education by their own parents.
By the time they reach their 3rd cycle, they enter a molting stage where they shed out their baby shells and grow a new one that is more appropriate for their Aveillene type. The oldest age an Aveillite can be expected to enter this stage is up to 4 cycles old. This period only lasts up to two months for an individual. They enter training for more specialized professions once they pass this stage and enter adolescence. An Aveillite enters young adulthood at age 6 up to 10 star cycles. They are considered adults from then until 40 and after then is considered old age

・・ BIOGRAPHY ・・
To make the long story short, the Aveillite named Damacalia Astar-Luna'Camillim is considered a war criminal by the Aveilla Cluster.
Not too long ago, Aveilla I went into a state of chaos and fought in an interstellar war for a whole 35 (Earth) years that nearly destroyed the planet. Little Dama was unfortunately on the wrong side of the battle during the whole debacle. Just like most podlings on their planet that were too young to be trained for the war, she was tossed into the evacuation project after she shimmied out of her cocoon. Something malfunctioned in her space pod though and instead of being sent to a safe zone, she ended up in enemy territory. In a manner of saying, some goat aliens kidnapped her but who's to say she could have been in a much better fate if they hadn't taken her?
In any case, Dama turned out to be very useful for them. She was smart for her age and they made use of her wit to keep the tides going for them, training her early and letting her work with the weaponry (among many other things) before eventually planting her as a spy in Aveillite territory. It was all going well for a few years but it seemed as though all favors had always been with the Aveilla race. At the end of the war, she was arrested by the Aveilla people and eventually imprisoned. The aliens who made use of her didn't even try to negotiate about getting her back — they just left her for dead.
Dama managed to escape from her cell, skillfully dodging all the security measures that held her in. Not too long after, she encountered the SolarVale Pirates by chance as she drifted into space in the pod that she totally hijacked on her way out. She technically lied her way into the ship, claiming to be lost, before "accidentally" revealing that she was a fugitive during the same trip. Kofi apparently didn't care enough and decided to keep her on the ship rather than taking her back to prison.
Since then she's been working with Kofi and manning the ship's armory. She changed her name to "Mimi", because apparently the people in the ship couldn't understand her name spoken from her mother language and that was the only thing Kofi understood in her name. This did give her a new identity to go with. She could say it's a win-win. At the moment, she somehow found a job working part time in a flower shop.

・・ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ・・
- While her name can be spelled in an Earth language, it doesn't really translate well from how it is actually spoken.
- Aveillite Notes:
- Aveilla Cluster = Aveilla government / all planets colonized by the Aveilla race; Aveilla I / Aveilla 1 = Mother planet; Aveillite = The Aveilla race; Aveillene = Relating to Aveillite culture, language, etc; (Aveilla) Star Cycle = Literally, a year.
- An Aveilla star cycle is based on the revolution of the planet Aveilla 1 around its star and is estimated to be about 7 Earth years. Their calendar consists of 31 hours per day, 35 days per month, and 56 months per year. They consider 8 seasons occurring within a year with one season spanning for about 7 months. In other words, creating this calendar was pure madness.
