She had been brought in just this morning, pale and completely unconscious. Found at the edge of the sewers by a bicyclist. She was bad off, but stable.

The doctors has called Chloe and Malara, who had in turn called Jackal and Alexander Drakenhardt. As her guardians, Mal and Chloe got the gist of what happened. Dalia had been mostly exsanguinated, her only wound being a hole like from a large gauge needle or some giant bug's proboscis.

@Kait @Romi @Pallas @Keen @Max!!
[[OOC: feel free to just have someone come in and mention a character visiting. Or just message me on the side. Or whatever. This is mostly a record of what happened to give others an idea of what's going on]]

It was wrong. Weird and wrong. Because he should have cared. She was Dalia. They'd been friends. She was Malara's daughter.

And he didn't care. Not really. He cared about the news the way he cared about hearing about some hurricane in the narrow reality. It happened, but not to him. Not to someone he cared about.

And that was fucked up.

But he went anyway. He told work there'd been an emergency, and he'd gone to the hospital, and he'd checked in with Malara. He'd been told he couldn't visit, not right then, and then he'd waited.

It was fucked up, and he hated it.

Chloe barely cared, and to her horror, she could feel the last strands of caring fraying away as she sat next to Dalia's hospital bed.

But Chloe was still tied in knots about this, and she began to realize something - she hated how this situation reflected on her. She should have done better. She wanted to do better. Dalia wasn't her daughter, but she was hers, and it reflected poorly on her that she could allow some fucking insect to do all of this. To steal her away right under Chloe's nose.

She was tearing herself up, thinking about all the ways she could have been better, and could have prevented this. If she had found a way to pre-empt this attack. Taken more initiative to find out who had done this to her and why. Maybe she could have even dragged Dalia into hell and not allowed her to leave until this was fixed.

This would have looked so pathetic to the other demon lords. The real ones. They wouldn't let something like this happen. They would have more control. They would have done something that mattered by now. And seeing Chloe like this, seeing Dalia like this, Andramaxas would have felt so vindicated, and Mikhainon would be so disappointed. And fuck them, and fuck their feelings of superiority, and fuck this. Chloe needed to be stronger. She couldn't allow the universe to keep doing things like this to her and hers.

At one point Chloe stormed out of Dalia's hospital room while she was asleep. Teeth gritted. The nurses saw her swing her fist at the wall next to the bathroom door, and disappear before it made contact.

Amber couldn't help but feel like she didn't belong here. Though the blond girl resting in cot was her sister, all she could see was stranger. She knows that she should be caring for the girl's well being yet she just couldn't care. And why should she? She never felt any personal connection to Dalia nor any of her other sisters for that matter. Part of her wondered why she was even here, not like this was the first time Dalia brought herself trouble by going off on her own. That was one thing Dalia was always good at, bringing trouble.

Deep down wish she could cry for semi-unconscious girl that is her blood but she was unable to mourn for her. She could stop breathing right now and she would hardly be moved by her death. The two of them should have been the best of siblings yet for all the times they were together it felt just could never click. Though Amber would have liked for it to have been different, sometimes these were just the way things are. With nothing really to say, she just quietly gets out of her seat and gently opens the door, cautious to accidentally wake Dalia up as she rested. They may been strangers but she could at least courteous as exits.

When Riley heard the news of what happened to Dalia, he honestly didn't care. He should have cared right? He knew he should have cared but he just didn't. Everything that was going on was all wrong. It was wrong and it bothered him a lot.

Riley sighed as he entered the room and there Dalia was. He was supposed to feel bad right? Yeah.....he was supposed to. He just made his way to the side of her bed and just looked over, just trying to find any ounce of caring he had left. He wanted to say something, anything, even if she wasn't going to here him but the words were hard to find. "Don't....don't go. Don't leave."

Those words were mostly to himself than Dalia. He should leave right, he did his visit and there was no reason to stay here any longer than he need to but...
Riley just leaned against the wall. He wasn't going to leave until she at least woke up. That seemed like the right thing to do?

Tomo came when no one else was around, she made sure of that, and she slipped in without making a sound, her cat paws silent against the hospital floor. Tomo made her way to the bed and hopped on it, watching Dalia as she slept.
Tomo had heard of Dalia going to the hospital not long after she had gotten herself hurt, and...she hadn't given a shit. Hearing that was like hearing any other rumour about some stupid kid getting themselves hurt. But Tomo knew Dalia wasn't just some kid, or at least she wasn't supposed to be. Tomo had so many memories with Dalia, but even though Tomo knew she was supposed to feel something, anything, towards this girl that she was staring at right now there was nothing there. And that was beyond frustrating for Tomo. Frustrating, sad and it downright made her angry.

Tomo's claws unconsciously came out, when she stared at Dalia and felt angry and sad about not being able to feel anything towards this girl. Tomo tried to force it, tried to bring forward the feelings those moments in her memory should've created, but it did nothing, and the one laying on the bed was just...a stranger. Tomo was glad cats couldn't cry, because she really felt like doing so now. Out of pure frustration and grief. Because even though Dalia was still alive and there Tomo felt like she had lost someone, who was very important to her. She had lost feelings that had probably made her life better. Dalia had given Tomo advice and words that should've lifted her spirits, and yet there was nothing. And Tomo didn't know if she could ever get those feelings back.

Tomo didn't know how long she sat by Dalia, watching over her, but when the nurse came in next time Tomo slipped out of the room as quickly and silently as she had come in, gritting her teeth so hard that small trail of blood flowed down to her chin.

Malara was quiet through the entire affair, arms crossed and her face scrunched up in contemplation. She was determined to fake this until she strangled her own emotions to come back. She had dozens of memories of sparring with Dalia. Trying out weapons. Laughing and playing and eating. And none of those apparently meant anything to her. She could get a flicker of emotion for a second, but it always faded too quickly to take root.

Riley was on the edge of just doozing off but he was forcing himself to stay awake. Riley immediately perked up once he heard Dalia say his name. She was awake, good he could lea- he frowned and just moved closer to Dalia. "Of course I came to see you and some others been in and out."

"Just because I don't feel anything here" Riley placed a hand on his heart and then pointed to his head "Doesn't mean I don't remember anything here. So, yeah. I came to visit and stayed." It's been a few hours since he got here.

Riley smiled weakly at Dalia and just nodded. He wasn't sure how to respond to that? She did messed up but considering all things he was glad she was just alive...well he knew he should feel glad she was alive. "Don't strain yourself too much."

Riley wanted to ask her what happened but maybe that was better for another time. "I just thought it would suck to for you to wake up and see no one here. I would know afterall...no one should experience that." Riley let out a week laugh

Dalia smiled weakly at Riley, squeezing her eyes shut to fight back the tears that she felt welling up. "Riley? Can I ask you something, since you don't have any strings to me right now?"

Dalia had made a habit of not checking the strings of people she cared about. Not in any way that would tell her how they felt. She didn't want to accidentally learn that someone was in love with her or whatever. It would have made things awkward. Opening her eyes, her smile faltered and she found that she couldn't look him in the eye. It was something that she had worried about needlessly for a while, but more so lately with everything going on.

"Did you hate me because of Phaedra? Even a little?"

So he had no strings. It was as bad as it sounded but hopefully things would get fixed eventually. "Uh, yeah sure ask away."

Riley frozed up a bit. Why was she asking this? Riley didn't recall ever hating her, he did initially avoid Dalia and the rest of her family after Phae left but he never blamed or hated them. "No I didn't....I don't think I did. I mostly just hated myself."

After a few moments Riley just grinned at Dalia. "But I don't anymore. What happened with Phae it sucked but we just got to keep moving on yeah? No reason to stay stuck in the past. My parents...helped me realize that."

"But also why even ask? If anything we bonded more because of Phae leaving, didn't we? Well it seemed like we did?"
