Hadrian would walk into the area, his breath foggy from the cold winter air, the snow crunching underneath his shoes. The young angel wore his power null bracelet, the feelings his aura causes are generally viewed as good but he still felt it'd be unfair to expose people to it.

He'd double check the bag, making sure his chosen gifts were there and undamaged. Gift exchanging had seemed fun, something he'd enjoy. One of his gifts seemed a bit odd, he'd felt a little awkward purchasing it, but it seemed like a fun choice. So now he'd wait for his exchange partner to arrive.

It was Jackal's second year participating in the secret santa, and this year? This year he was going to do better. His first year he'd given some fairly underwhelming gifts, not having even bothered to wrap them, but this year? This year he was ready.

He had a nice gift bag, all fancied up with a bow, and he'd headed to the park right on time. He was bundled up in a winter jacket, the fur collar making the whole getup look significantly nicer than his usual clothes.

He really didn't like the cold, and the literal mounds of snow in the park weren't helping either.

"Yo!" Jackal called when he spotted a mop of white hair standing near the meeting point. "You Hadrian?"

Luckily he didn't have to wait long, he'd look at as someone appeared, a large man with an odd tail. "I am," he'd smile a bit, "and that makes you Jackal." Christmas was an odd holiday for him anymore, he was born a supposedly holy being, anymore Christmas just felt lonely.

He'd step over to Jackal, fighting the urge to bow as he'd been hoping to stop using that form of greeting. "It's good to meet you," he'd hold up his bag with a chuckle, "buying gifts for someone you don't know was interesting." Looking at Jackal he had a feeling he'd enjoy the gifts he'd chosen.

Jackal looked the kid over, pondering for a moment. Looked human enough. Hadn't killed anyone. Hard to tell what people were those days, wasn't it?

"Note said no religious stuff," Jackal said. "You're a demon then?"

He sure didn't look it, but that didn't mean anything. Lots of demons looked just like humans.

"Here ya go," Jackal said, holding out his bag. "You might as well open it first."

Inside he'd find two gifts - a box set for a young adult fantasy series, and something a bit more christmasy: The Die Hard trilogy.

"Uh....not exactly," he'd say, instantly uncomfortable at the question, he'd been falling for a while at this point but he didn't talk about it much.

He'd accept the bag with a grateful smile, "thank you," then handing Jackal his. Looking into the bag he'd take out each gift, grinning a tiny bit as he opened them, the last year had been a bit difficult but he was enjoying the holidays.

In his bag Jackal would find two gifts, both neatly wrapped. One was a large book about the various alcoholic drinks from different realms and worlds and how to make them. The other gift was a set of shot glasses that had pictures of attractive individuals of various species wearing lingerie of different styles.

Not exactly... Halfbreed? That was Jackal's guess. Halfbreeds were weird, shaky territory. Some had no weaknesses on either side. Some had a double set. Things were all over the place when it came to halfbreeds depending on what particular sliver of religion you were involved with.

Jackal unpacked his gifts, flipping through the book with a grin. It was a good gift, and one he'd make good use of. At first glance, he thought the shot glasses were just shot glasses, but then he double took, fishing one out of the bag and holding it up to the light to get a better look.

Yep, it was an incubus wearing a banana hammock.

Nice. Those were going straight to Malara.

"I can only imagine the looks you got when you were buying these," Jackal said with a cheeky grin.

His face would flush from embarrassment when he brought up the shot glasses. "I...yeah...it was..interesting buying them," he'd chuckle a little, "little old lady in line with me certainly looked confused and....not pleased."

Clearing his throat he'd compose himself best he good and give Jackal a smile. "Thank you. I like the gifts," he'd start reading the books immediately and probably binge watch the films soon.

Jackal seemed nice despite his intimidating physical qualities. Hadrian was happy he'd gotten paired with him.

Well, the Christmas stuff was done. He had his gifts, and the kid has his, and he seemed... normal. He probably could have left then and there, but instead Jackal was curious enough to just ask. That was something he'd learned on the island: Just asking would get you everywhere.

"So you're, what, half demon, half human? I swear I've met like half a dozen on the island. You'd be fucking shocked how many demons come on vacation up here to knock up women."

He hadn't really been expecting the question, most didn't ask, they usually just shrugged and moved on. He knew beings like the fallen were relatively common on the island, but becoming one wasn't something he was taking while.

"I.....," he'd sigh, "no, not a demon...I'm a fallen...or rather, a falling angel." He'd fiddle with his power bracelet, he wasn't sure if rising after falling was something angels could do, wasn't sure if he was damned.

Ooooh. So he was one of those. Jackal didn't think he'd ever met any, but it wasn't like he'd know either. Lots of people didn't volunteer it. A lot of them just called themselves 'demons'. A fallen angel was effectively the same thing, weren't they?

"Oh, well then. I'd say own it if you want to, and get back in his good graces if you don't." He was vastly oversimplifying things, but A) things worked differently in his branch, and B) he'd never seen it as being that big a deal. For all his wickedness, Jackal was still very much considered to be in the big man's good graces.
