In one hand, Junchi was swinging the hand of his father Henghai wildly as they walked into the park. In the other, Junchi carried his gift to his Secret Santa partner. They had arrived a bit late since Henghai had work to do, but that didn't matter! Fashionably late was a thing, even if Béa said it was bullshit.

Junchi and his partner, a woman called Fehralyn, had discussed where they would meet and described their appearance over the phone earlier. Initially, Junchi had the idea of just shouting her name, but Henghai could see the look on his face and immediately warned him that Fehralyn may not even be here yet. Either way, they shouldn't disturb others at the park by screaming. So Junchi kept his mouth shut while he eagerly waited to see his partner. In the meantime, he made his dad hold his gift while he played in the snow.

This event was very unusual by Fehralyn's standards, and that was exactly why she wanted to try and do it. Giving gifts to a stranger, it sounded suspicious and inconvenient, but Fehr was curious and it seemed her partner was a child. A child who seemed intelligent but that wasn't unusual on Manta Carlos.
Fehralyn was dressed warmly, and she hd recently bought mittens and a scarf. She was carrying the gift she had taken from her private collection, it was a guide to multidimensional flora that included possible usages and effects. She had two copies, she could give one up. Fehr didn't really have much taste when it came to packaging, so she had just bought a christmas themed red bag with snowflakes and put the book in there.

Fehralyn artived exactly on time, punctuality was important. She saw some children around, but most were with their parents and much too small to be Fehr's partner. So she sat down on a bench after clearing it from snow, putting the gift down next to her. And she waited.
About 5 to 10 minutes went by before a child and a parent walked to Fehr's view, and the child was carrying a gift. She observed the two for a moment, and they stayed in the area and waited. Fehr smiled just slightly when the child played in the snow. She wasn't that good with interacting with children, but Fehr had always thought they were pleasant to talk to. Many were still innocent and hopeful, not aware of the darkness in the world.

Fehr stood up, picking up her present, and headed over to the two. As she got close Fehr cleared her throat and held the gift bag so it showed.
"Good day. I'm Fehralyn Daidel. Are you perhaps the Leizus?"
Fehr presented the question to both the child and his parent, her tone was friendly and she had a small smile on her face.

Henghai was only halfway through introducing himself and Junchi before being knocked aside and having the gift for Fehralyn pulled from his hands. This was Junchi's Secret Santa, and he was not going to let his dad get to make first impressions.

And at the drop of a hat, he was the politest child you could meet. He stood with a straight posture, held the wrapped gift in front of him, and said, "Hello Ms. Daidel! I'm Junchi Leizu and my daddy is Henghai Leizu and here's your gift!"

The present was wrapped in, of course, paper filled with plant designs. Inside was a book on how different supernatural cultures used plants to enhance their art. From food used by mermaids to enchantments used by dragons, each chapter covered a different use for plants of all kinds.

The two had strong life energies around them, especially the child since children tended to have more life energy than adults, and it was especially vivid and colourful.
Fehralyn listened to Henghai's introductions, only for him to be interrupted by Junchi, who shoved his father aside and grabbed the gift he had been holding. Fehr looked down at him with slight surprise and amusement, though she only let the surprise show. She didn't want to hurt Junchi's feelings.

"Hello, Junchi, Mr. Leizu. Nice to meet you."
Fehr answered politely, Junchi seemed like a friendly and polite child with good manners. He was straightforward for sure and Fehr couldn't help but chuckle slightly. She held out her own gift just as Junchi did his.
"And here is yours. I hope you like it."

Fehr received the gift and turned it around in her hands a bit. Judging from shape, size and feel it was a book, which was perfectly fine by Fehr. More than fine, actually. She enjoyed reading very much, as she had put in her info.
"Thank you very much. I like this wrapping paper."
Fehr smiled down at Junchi, wondering if she should open it now. Maybe not.

Junchi had neglected to give Fehralyn a polite response, so Henghai made up for it. "It's nice to meet you too, Ms. Daidel. And yes, Junchi thought the wrapping would be nice based on your interest in gardening."

Junchi was too busy preparing to check out his gift. Then, he stopped before he could truly appreciate it and instead looked up at the lady and asked, "Aren't you gonna open yours? We can open ours at the same time."

"Is that so? That was very thoughtful of you Junchi, I appreciate it."
Fehr answered with a small nod, she actually regretted she had lacked the insight for such a thing. Fehr tended to overlook details, it was a bad habit she needed to work on.

So it was alright to open the gifts on the spot? Well, if Junchi was going to open his then Fehr saw no reason to hold back. She was curious to see what type of book the child(or his parents) had gotten her.
"Very well then, let's open them."
Fehr began opening the gift, taking care she didn't rip the wrapping paper. She wanted to re-use it, the pattern was nice. Inside Fehr found a very interesting book indeed, and her eyes widened slightly, almost sparkling. Fehr didn't have this book in her library, it was a wonderful addition. Fehr smiled down at Junchi.
"This book is wonderful, thank you very much."
Fehr also nodded at Henghai.

Junchi was practically vibrating with excitement. When he saw his book, he made no hesitation to start reading. After getting through the list of chapters, Henghai had to gently nudge him to acknowledge Fehralyn before he started on the first chapter.

"Oh. I knew you'd like it! I read the whole book and it even has pictures and drawings. One chapter has stuff about flowers and dancing and talks about how some fae courts use dancing to make their gardening stronger. It's funny that we both got books on plants from different worlds."

The excitement that was clear on Junchi's expressions and gestures made Fehr pleased with her gift choice, she didn't mind he was ignoring her to get reading the book. When Henghai had to nudge him so he's answer Fehr she chuckled a bit.

"That's very interesting, I can imagine it'll be a fascinating read. I have several copies of that book, I gave you a copy that doesn't have my own personal notes written in it. I imagine you'll find the chapter about the rainforest flora in dimension A-639 interesting. They have many, hm, fun applications."

Now Henghai was interested, and Junchi could feel him hovering above him while he looked for the chapter on Dimension A-639.

"You can't stop there!" Junchi whined. "What kind of fun applications? I kinda wish I got to see your notes, but I'll just make my own!" By this point, he was rambling stuff he wanted to read in the book and bouncing.

"I love it I love it I love it!"

Junchi's happiness and excitement were infectious and Fehralyn smiled at the boy and his father, who also seemed interested in the book. Fehr was glad they'd both be able to enjoy it.
"I believe it'll be more enjoyable if you read about the applications yourself. If I began explaining I'm afraid we'd remain here for hours. It is the teacher in me, I suppose."
Fehr was talkative when it came to the areas that interested her, and nature was one of them.
"I'm very delighted for this book as well, I'll make sure to put it in good use in my lectures."
